Wasnt this the initial model of servers back in the day? Voluntary donations by the community to cover the costs without any ingame rewards?

Maybe we should create a sub community of server owners that are not greedy assholes and actually care to provide fair long term servers that are focused on community building and unique features.

Update [22/5/2020] Decided after some thinking to switch to an Interlude type of server. The Epilogue server might still happen at some point in the future. I apologize for the inconvenience or disappointment this change might have caused.

@LordPanic You said you left a server because the big clans left, that right there is a community problem. You cant expect servers to stick around if you dont stick with the server and support it when the population is down. Another huge issue i noticed the past 10 years is people leaving once the Olympiad period is over.

I would be ok to pay if they had said so from the beginning but instead they had me waste my time on emailing them and getting nonsensical responses.

Finally someone spoke up about this. Since 2013 i was never able to add a new Server in L2Topzone. While i understand at the beggining this method was used to stop people from listing duplicates or the same server again in order to get a front page spot it doesnt make sense when the server in questions is brand new with different name, game version and rates/features. Also theres been countless times where i tried to add a new server in the same old account but i was forced to edit the old one i had already listed with totally unrelated reviews and server names which btw you are not allowed to edit anymore. You should be able to list a brand new server as brand new and not be forced to use your old ass account which in a lot of cases people wont even remember user/pass combination for it.

Yeah ive had really bad experiences with that listing site. If you dont pay you are treated like garbage pretty much.

Well aside from what the OP suggests we could combine our resources and open a multiversion server. If im not mistaken L2jserver and others were working on a universal login. Just get a bunch of people to develop their servers and put everything under one roof. Im sure if 20 people contribute a few eu/usd we could rent a hude dedicated server and offer cool servers without donations for everyone to enjoy. That i think is the only way to revive this community.

September = End of summer, school is starting and kids are forced to stay indoors. December = Around Christmas and new years because the kids dont have school for a couple weeks. Easter = Same reason as Christmas in Christian countries like Eastern Eu. Late Spring/Early Summer until June, after that people usually go for vacations in July/August. While these dont really apply anymore because L2 is really old its some good insight i believe.

The only difference is some static data tables like npc and droplist are now compined into .xml in the stats folder in the datapack.

Thats good for us, they will be less inclined to go after people that modify the legacy client.

I think the biggest problem is the community and not the servers and their admins. If people didnt rejoin all these copy pasted servers that re-open every other week maybe these admins would try something else.

What the hell are even these "Classic" servers? Theres nothing classic about them, all i see is more "Star Warsy" stuff. Real Classic is everything Interlude and previous. They should have just done that but instead of turning it into whatever it is they are trying to do they should have expanded it with new locations,gear and pve content.
