  1. Ofcourse it's fine, very few changes (if any) from freya to h5 on map.
  2. This applies to noone in L2. L2 players are 30+ year old with zero desire to learn anything new. They only appreciate things such as auto farm which makes the game even easier for them. I can already see people ignoring every part of lore you include and spamming about boss drops being shit/op.
  3. Ah yes, the good old time travel trick, wp. Seems like a decent project with hours put into it. Love your interface (specially the right click functions). Wish you luck.
  4. Tbh I have no idea. At the time I left the server all existing used retail/custom features worked as intended, even big changes like high five olympiad in Interlude. I have no clue what they did after I left but I remember getting some pms for fixes, which I didn't respond.
  5. Eola files were leaked after I left the development of the server (I think admin started selling them and someone leaked them). Also the leaked version was a mess, too many customs disabled/not working and there were bugs too introduced in newer seasons. There's still people trying to sell them. Good to meet you tho
  6. So much hate for someone who's merely giving an opportunity for money. It's easy to throw rocks from a cave. If you want your opinion to be valid and solid, speak with facts and not assumptions. P.S. L2Eola season 2 had 700 real online + 50 shops back in 2017 and it was a PvP server, I don't see why 1000 online wouldn't be achievable by a mid-rate server. The secret is to present your server correctly to different communities all over the world. In Eola we even had 1 Chinese clan playing (yep, I worked with translator to make Chinese htmls, I can provide them if you don't believe me).
  7. It is acceptable to provide your work simply as a library for others, as long as you have the proper plugin system and documentation so people can work on their own things. Unless you're going for something complex as a faction system where you 100% need access to source.
  8. He's probably selling old aCis source so I think Tryskell won't mind.
  9. I think it's because players are looking for exploits in every single part of the game, so perhaps in some server fished stuff could be sold for 10kk each so they test everything.
  10. Defamation is a statement that injures a third party's reputation. The tort of defamation includes both libel (written statements) and slander (spoken statements). This is basically the reason Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard
  11. Consider opening for BETA, it really helps to spot out major bugs before you move to official opening, because the amount of bugs that typically occur during the opening can be overwhelming. Good luck.
  12. 'Real players' is not a system, I'm talking about actual players. There's no way I can think of that you can emulate 500 real connections without access to client source to make the modifications necessary. You could in theory make a 'mock' tcp client to connect with l2 server and make it spam packets to the server to emulate many connections with real data sent-received, but seriously who would bother to do something like that for L2 lol.
  13. Nothing really. Server ram usage will increase slightly and perhaps a few more milliseconds server loading time (if they're loaded on server startup and saved on server shutdown). On client-side it would be a bit heavier as there's no concept of 'offline shop' in the client, it would assume those offline shops are idle players, so animations would still play and their meshes would still be rendered, resulting in less fps or worse performance (if they're in the same place). As long as you didn't mess with networking code and your pack has been used by online servers before, I doubt you'll get networking issues (except for the few people that try to run on VM, or windows XP xD).
  14. It's not possible to emulate the behavior of 500 players easily to test if any errors in GS occur. That would require testing every aspect of the gameplay because believe me, players dig into everything. I had some people trying to fish in L2Eola, a pvp server where there's absolutely no reason to go fishing (slots were 300 or more iirc). Guess what fishing was broken and I got flooded in GS console with errors. These things can only be detected real-time, unless you're some kind of genius and think of everything beforehand.
  15. Testing with fake players is a lot more complicated than you think. There's several systems/behavior that need to be created for the bots to be actually useful. It all depends on what you wanna test. If you want to test for example PvP, you need to setup parties of bots, with correct behavior of each class (bishops healing, ressing, mass resses, cleanse, positioning, tanks aggro, archers to assist and perhaps run vs daggers, target priority, assisting etc etc). If you want to test quests, it might get even more complicated, as you need to create logic for each quest to be automated by a bot, then save the results for each part of the quest in a readable manner to gather results (like how long it took, what the rewards are in the long term etc). If you want to test whether or not your server will hold 500 players, bots are not the way to go, since you'll only be sending information of 500 bots to one player (observer, the admin, yourself). Real 500 players would be far heavier, as you would need to send information of 499 to each player (if they're in the same area ofcourse). - Best you can do is do an open beta, fix some bugs that will occur, and be prepared for 200 more bugs on opening. There's no real way to avoid this, unless you've re-opened the server 5 or 6 times and you've fixed (almost) everything that occured. GL.
  16. You don't have to, but I chose to say it for L2Damage because it's a server that has been open for years and now that players are leaving he's spamming wipes to get as much money as he can before there's 10 people online after wipe (same story with L2Java). It's a different subject, but please do not argue that things are not better than they used to be because it doesn't make sense. Rome wasn't built in a day, many more generations need to pass and old fuckers need to die for the world to keep evolving towards freedom and prosperity. There's still people believing that sacrificing animals to fake gods will make their corps grow, but you can't state that 'People sacrifice animals everywhere, it's still a problem'.
  17. That's a different story mate, ofcourse he can do as he pleases, however we can express our opinion on such shit money grab admins freely too. It's freedom of speech. Not as common as it was(once there was different bathrooms for blacks), plus slavery is illegal and rare.
  18. It doesn't mean it's right if everyone is doing it. And players are bored of this behavior nowadays that's why nobody plays pvp servers anymore, they're full of bots because admins are bored to make something interesting. Racism was common back in 1800s, everyone had a couple of slaves, does it mean it was right? Nope.
  19. L2Java syndrom, wipe every month to squeeze as much money as he can from the few players left. Perhaps you should focus on re-making your project with new features and rates, or open a 2nd L2Damage, then players would re-join.
  20. I remember when I saw GoD trailer with a duelist jumping around rocks, pissed me off so bad I quit L2 for 1-2 years at that time. I never played high five or anything above interlude because I used to play PvP servers when Interlude came out and I regret it, but it really looks nice (except for kamaels flying around and daggers getting free backstabs).
  21. I love interlude gameplay but the client always felt laggy and old. You couldn't even walk in Giran with so many afk shops. Classic client is very nice imo, there's so, many things that help the players. Even simple things that matter: You press Esc, your active html closes or your target gets canceled if you don't have a html active, no collision between players, alt + click on buffs to remove, more info in parties & possibility to re-organize the pt without leaving/joining and many more. Also the fps seems better overall.
  22. Thanks. The hard part is already done (some movement issues, unknown packets, inventory, skill enchanting, mask packets), now all that's left is just changing opcodes and packet structure a bit to enable all features that are not working (olympiad, command channels etc).
  23. Thanks guys. Well, the completed project could be sold for at least 150-200 euros. And I don't mind the person I will be sharing it with to sell it, as long as it's complete and they're not trying to fool people (and make a fool of me/them).
