[WebSite]CMS project, tell me your opinion.
sandpants replied to WebbingIt's topic in General Discussion [English]
Just one more thing that will make making cope->paste servers easier. From the perspective of L2 - is this really a smart thing to do? From any other perspective - is this needed? -
So a hoster or a dev?

[Review] Blacklight: Retribution (FPS)
sandpants replied to sandpants's topic in Other Multiplayer Games
Not perfect world Zombie studious. Perfect world is just a publisher. It's nothing like the other game PW has. Less bullsht than in games like CoD/BF3 with running around 32vs32 map around 8x8km and not seeing anyone for 70% of the time. IT IS a GOOD GAME. Arguing with that by saying "PW" and "Cool toy" is just being ignorant and stubborn. -
It's already dead aesthetically. Majority doesn't like new updates - less variety. Less variety = same old stuff. People either do not like new stuff or they don't like dead servers. It's a double edged sword. People still try to theory craft economy, level, progression, raid boss system, "unique" gameplay. The best part people want retail gameplay <- just makes me rofl. As far source code and availability - it's got potential. But it's like arguing with a wall. Introduce something new - no one accepts it, join the hate wagon. Don't do anything and keep retail - dies in 2 weeks cos it's fkin NASCAR.

How to edit GoD's l2.ini / increase cache size ?
sandpants replied to Blackmore_'s topic in [Request] Client Dev Help
He asked for memory cache size. L2FileEdit can edit that. -
So much hate. Then general section is filled with "Should I quit L2?".

How to edit GoD's l2.ini / increase cache size ?
sandpants replied to Blackmore_'s topic in [Request] Client Dev Help
L2FileEdit or something like. If it supports GoD. It has a great UI and you don't need to look up any files. You just show it the system path and it patches it accordingly. You can change message colour, NPC name colour and the cache size in it. -
If Onslought doesn't crit having STR is useless. The damage you lose will be negligible.

I'd like it to be more often. Perhaps with lower rewards. 1 hour every night, would be great. But then the incentive to keep wards is lessened. I was on servers where it was on weekends. Barely had the chance to play it. Thats why I want it to be more often. But like I said, it has to scale. There is also the risk of it getting repetitive. Also depends on how complete it is / what level of coordination is required. Fort ballistas have to be destroyed? Just one from the region? Several?

NCsoft also made D/S 2 mins. NCsoft didn't put MP pots and taught players to manage MP. But then NCsoft didnt fix -1s reuse macro bug until GoD. You aren't making anything unique by remembering what NCsoft did. You are just copying them. NCsoft moved on. To other games. Even l2 is a different game. They saw the necessity. Why don't you (people that propose your dream servers) see it? You boast of NCsoft, but keep talking about C4 and interlude. You are irrational and that's why you will fail - you have no vision, just dreams and hopes. You get complimentary credit for trying though!

What's the most UNIQUE server, which ever exist?
sandpants replied to Dulens.'s topic in General Discussion [English]
Didn't personally play Echo. But I heard loads of stuff about it. Apparently one of the most respected faction servers. Pandora is down, but for the time it was up, it had many unique features that are just too many to list. Gameplay specific - they had a faction version which offered persistence outside of events. Neighboring lands would be fought over and a push-pull fight but it was still relatively open world. After that they tried DoTA/FPS style gameplay where they had an engine to make instanced rooms with particular gametype (TvT/CTF/KOTH) for ~18 players. So you could make clan fights, fights with friends, etc. You could arrange fights with players of your own level, if you saw how FPS room/servers work like you could probably see the benefits. Infinitel2 is 24/7 PvP. Not much to say. It WAS good. Now it's mostly carebear. Ignoring that it's unarguable that the quantity and duration of PvP on that server could rival the sumation of several lowrates in their whole life time. It's faction as well but its layed out well. It's a long story so you are welcome to see for yourself. I warn you, it really has become carebear. SkirmishPvP also plays like FPS but no faction. The benefit is no commitment. You don't have to go to sleep feeling guilty that the guys who play more than you will be far ahead. You don't have to cry over lost raidbosses. You log in, make a char and it takes 3 mins to set up - most stuff are instant. Instant attribute, instant skill enchants, etc. Lacks persistence and actual motive to PvP and it may show even further as the server progresses and players will be divided by timezones. The uniqueness of these is that they move away from the MMO grind progression and bring you towards the actual MMO combat. You don't have to spend 6 weeks getting levels, then 2 weeks getting PvP gear, then by 9th week realize that its pretty dead and pointless as many server nowadays turn out. -

Eckokinetics/pandora/infinite l2 were great factions servers, not like the sht you see now. Skirmish has a good concept but it's not done yet. -
New server project recruiting staff.
sandpants replied to skazi666's topic in General Discussion [English]
BUT ITS GONNA BE A NICE LOWRATE VOTE SHOP AND ALL AND YOU GET TO DO QUESTS AND ALL THE FACTOR CLANS WILL COME THERE AND QUIT AFTER 3 WEEKS I wonder if there is still a reason to bother with this game. -
If you want to practice on L2 you gonna have to think way outside the box. The current demand however is on the level of changing config files. There are Tera emulators if you google. You can be part of a build group or whatever Russians call them. L2j version of TeraEmu got disbanded way back. But it had a great group. Pretty sad.

[Vote stuff here]High rate PvP balance?
sandpants replied to sandpants's topic in General Discussion [English]
Balance within obvious limits. If people cry that they cannot win tanks when playing an archer or dagger, that's pretty much /ignore material right there. But when a tank face rolls everyone using a blunt and hitting for 4k dmg and having movable UDs when a dwarf deals 300 (sure dwarves, but blunts as well) and glads TSS crit for 1.6k - there is something wrong. -

sandpants replied to sandpants's topic in General Discussion [English]
It's arguable and it's a whole new perspective. The difference between 5 and 7 hits could be substantial considering that targets move, skills can fail, you get CCed, etc. A fight can be dynamic and usually is. But it matters less the more mistakes are forgiven. That's why slow PvP is not really... exciting. You just mash buttons to ensure highest DPS on a target. Not really smart. So debuffs would still matter. -

sandpants replied to sandpants's topic in General Discussion [English]
Not 2 hits. Rare occasions like dagger crit stabs with CC or titans on frenzy. I was thinking more like 4-5 hits if all crits on about 10k HP. So 8-10 hits with no crits. On average 20% magical attacks and about 25% physical skills are crits. So... 7-9? Debuffs may not be worth the time but they would still change the tide in a prolonged fight. -
[Vote stuff here]High rate PvP balance?
sandpants replied to sandpants's topic in General Discussion [English]
Fast sucks in 1v1 or general small scale. But in organized party vs party it's a lot better IMO. And the whole teleport thing should be ignored. Best to find ways around that than compromise balance. -
Curiosity abound. Fast paced - Loads of damage from all classes. Stuff dies in a couple of hits, anywhere between 10 to 2 or even 1 hits. Healers heal for about as much as average damage. One slight mistake and healer fails. Slow paced - 300 damage mages. So many buffs that it takes minutes to kill stuff. Tanks are invincible. All healers live till mana ends. Everything else heals half of the damage through CP pots. PvP is won by random luck and debuffs. Heals are enough to mitigate damage from 5 DDs. Retail fully buffed - I dunno, typical 24/12 buffslots? Most buffs in NPC buffer except a few? Tanks deal 4k dmg. Daggers stab for 800. Mix between the first 2. Basically physical skills suck. All magical attacks suck. The retardation of this depends how high max enchant is. +16 -> infinity = terrible. Anything less than +16 - slightly less terrible. Normal physical attacks hit 3-4 times harder than TSS. ^ Broad average balance and PvP combat throughout current servers. Which do you prefer? Other options in your post please.

The only difference is irrational beliefs. Like better balance, complete server better bla bla on OFF. First source was leaked on C4 I think? L2j folks had plenty of time to analyze and copy structure when needed. I've been on Off servers - didn't notice much difference. Balance claim is sht. Same thing happens when you put full buff on NPC just because some children want 9000 stats. You can't trick math. Stability - maybe, but it's not something anyone should worry about. Such technical details only matter on a scale unaccesible to typical users. Everything else looks similar. OFF is harder to develop beyond what it is. Java is more flexible, but has it's own rudimentary crap from way long ago which is hard to fix because a lot of other things were built on them. Their calcstat is one of those things.

[Survey]: Castle Circlet: Increases Status
sandpants replied to BonJovi®'s topic in General Discussion [English]
My point was that 5% patk/matk is very weak. Speed and evasion are strong stats. 5% to them is a lot combat wise. Anyone who understands this won't bother with castles because of these stats. Last point was sarcasm. Idea isn't bad. It's just no executed well. Fortuna's idea is better. -
Call me blind if you want or wish, but this is just random. 5% general stats vs 15 speed? You can put effort into "thinking up unique serber" if you want and we will clap you foo - but when you make random custom stats for the sakes of having random custom stats and claim it is something - go fk urself. If you still didnt get it - 5% stats = small 15 speed - huge 60x and 3 rebirths = nascar server = first to level up wins = rapes lowbies = lowbies cry of inbalance = no competition for high levels, they leave = server dies cos 30 BRs badmouth about server closing and/or being dead. Economy with custom currency = biggest sht ever. To create a worthy economy you have to have understanding of logistics. You have to be damn wonderkid or an actual engineer/economist to understand models/objects. So yeah monkey - you are a scrub.

[Survey]: Castle Circlet: Increases Status
sandpants replied to BonJovi®'s topic in General Discussion [English]
5% over random damage is useless. the Patk/Matk from a logistics point of view are far inferior to everything else. Evasion and speed are the superior and atk spd/cst spd are preference (faster animation, but counted in miliseconds, may not appease to players.) Frankly, 10% or no balls. On a serious note - 10% or don't bother. Cos people that will bother with those circlets and castle sieges because of those circlets are as likely to be bothered with other servers 2 weeks after.
