Well, when there are not so many Lineage II players left, it's obvious that people will become more aggressive in advertising, even if it includes stealing players e.g. by offering top clans gear/castle ownership/whatever so that they would leave your server and go to another. Life is tough, but you have to either DEAL WITH IT or just QUIT. After all, what did you think when you started a private server? That you are going to leech all the AAA assets (client side) and make some easy money? Just because NC HQ does not care what happens outside Korea+Taiwan, doesn't mean someone else will not take measures to shut you down. In short, if you REALLY believe that you listed PROBLEMS, you should QUIT RIGHT NOW. Otherwise, DEAL WITH IT, captain obvious.
  5. If I'm not mistaken, leaked HF files might exist, but they were never leaked to the general public (same as GoD, GD, Tauti, Lindvior, Epeisodion, Ertheia), so your only option is extended GF.
  6. You don't write code in L2OFF. L2OFF only offers you NPC interaction handlers (compiled to AI.obj). The closest thing to writing code is writing an extender, which for the most part will be changing executable memory to writeable, overwriting instruction(s) with a jmp far (and adding nops to align) to extender code (or just a call far ptr), which does "the same that was overwritten and more" or "something different", and does a jmp far back to resume execution. Of course, you make the memory executable again. Nothing even close to what you'd call development, but people have been successfully doing it for decades now. After all, if your printer manufacturer openly refuses to either implement required features or share the source, you have no choice than to patch it by injecting those features so you (and the whole team) could use the printer properly.
  7. There are only Prelude Beta, C1 (various), C4 and GF L2OFF files. Hellbound is either a C4 extension or a GF downgrade (your choice). Also, Hellbound has been released ages ago, so the gameplay is pretty much obsolete; plus the client is afflicted with Themida that makes it hardly portable (not playable on WINE, Win 10, etc.)

  10. None of the events are persistent, because there is absolutely 0 sense for them to be. A GM can simply create "//teleport x y" macro(s) for himself and then use "//eventmatch gm" to open the dialog and select to create a new event area on current location. That's why whenever you 'end' an event match, it disappears. Same happens on server restart. Plus, GM can use premade Race (event)/Command ini files. Race (event) ini defines the basic ruleset. Cmd files are kind of like macros. You may use one ini to spam announcements via this dialog, then another to use certain builder commands on participants (all at once), etc. Both ini files simply need to be somewhere on the GM's (the one that will run the game client) computer. As usual, if you don't want to type in the full (a.k.a. absolute) path, paths are expected to be relative to l2.exe (system folder).
  11. EventMatch Ever since mid C3. The dialog OP is concerned about is opened with "//eventmatch gm". The UI is simply delegating to builder bypasses, nothing special about it (no client packets).
  12. Effect of type 'p_magical_defence' has three parameters: 1. Types of armor required (all = heavy, light, robe) 2. Modifier value 3. Modifier type (per = skillMDefendPer, diff = skillMDefendDiff). In this case, 'per' will multiply the base MDefend value by 1 + (modifier value / 100), while 'diff' would add the modifier value after all calculations have been performed. You must always know the parameters an effect type expects, otherwise L2Server will simply fail to load skilldata once it encounters the first invalid entry, which in your case should be tatto_hp (at least on a clean GF server).
  13. Preventing hack tools is just a rather minor side effect of what GG really does. The whole point of GameGuard for L2, ever since it was added mid C2, was never to block cheating software. It's true that for other games, like MUO, MS, etc. etc., GG will actively try to detect/block/report any cheating software and make playing the game impossible as long as it is running. The primary use of GG for L2 is its "keyboard security module" as well as anti-malware tricks. Basically, it tries to prevent account theft of any possible kind. E.g. any [global] keylogger would see 'a's instead of username/password, as well as incorrect mouse movement stats, while GG also tries to prevent injection into DX or the game itself, so that no malware could bypass input obfuscation by getting it directly instead). There are other ways the L2 client has in its design to counter 3rd party software usage, primarily HackShield integration and ExOrcMove/ExSearchOrc.
  14. A large community + a true working antibot = an empty server. You will be surprised how many people are discouraged from starting/continuing to play on a bot-free server. And once they start leaving, real players notice that the server is losing players fast, so they simply follow the trend. Rats are the first to leave a sinking boat. And there is no better metaphor to describe both botters and a server with a working anti-bot. This has been tested and not only by me personally. As I may have already pointed out, the whole deal is about making the server appear to have a strict anti-bot policy and that it would be really hard for a first time botter to get started with botting on the server, while at the same time making sure that anyone with at least a few months of botting experience would have literally zero trouble on starting to bot. It also helps to keep regular announcements about what punishment awaits botters, as well as publish some info about punishments taken against them. If they are real or partly fabricated, it doesn't really matter.
  15. Well, I guess the thing that keeps me is the fact that I am playing on an official server for my region. No matter how poorly maintained, no matter with how small a skeleton crew, no matter the incomplete/buggy releases, the monster lags inflicted randomly to individual characters (e.g. if you 6-box, one char will suddenly start having 10s+ delay to all actions, but all others (including newly boxed) will see no lag at all) and incompetent administrators (we wish we could make another 2 weeks of free teleports, but we don't know how!), there's this certain thing that you can play here and whenever you come back, you will have all your (now worthless) gear, forcibly removed skill enchants or skills altogether, will be seeing mostly the same players and can have new fun just like the old times. Also, did I mention invisible (one-way) walls in towns that nobody cares fixing since Freya, at least? And I still keep playing.

Chronos, various different people linking 99+B adena in world chat; a lot of newbies with +8 (or higher) R99 sets, AH cleared of all overpriced items (enchanted Dark/Bloody, blessed enchant scrolls, mystic SC), the same guys buying NCoin for nearly 1m adena each, you get the picture. These people were spotted at MRT actively engaged with the lotto ticket manager, while it was not disabled (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?p=3508765).

  19. Except that custom-made online announcements does not make players appear out of thin air. NC has a lot of players in Giran and Heine, and they do look like they are actually playing (not p stores or whatever).
  20. NC understood that very well, they even reached 6k+ online / server at GoD launch thanks to all the 'log in 25 alts, get 25x the adena reward' events. But of course, if the gameplay (international gameplay, I mean) is shit, you can't keep these people forever. So since mid-Ertheia, there is a legit way of earning XP/SP + some loot while being AFK (and I mean overnight AFK style). Good for online count, good for players.

  22. Technically, it should use GPU (instead of CPU) for various gfx related tasks. But then again, on a default installation, software rendering is not supported, so all it can do is shift the load from "more towards CPU" to "more/all towards GPU". Obviously, if you have an OK GPU, you would want this enabled.
  23. Uhm, no. Most players know enough English to understand everything written here (and/or notice the title bar). I was only attacking the single point about how this code is advertised. There's nothing wrong with how it works, as it does what is expected. I swear, if this was back at C4/C5 times, when I was a server owner, it would take approx. 5 minutes from first TP/kick/jail/ban, some asswipe who can't even explain in English wtf he wants trying to tell me he was TPed/kicked/jailed/banned for no reason. And honestly, I really hate people who can't speak English trying to spam my Skype. I believe other international server owners do too.
  24. How do you understand that some images are buttons and some are just images? You don't know english, remember! All what is written is just some mumbo jumbo. In reality, if it was not clear to me or you, we could just read and know exactly what to do. But now, it's just some annoying ad/vote request with stupid images (no buttons/links/input fields).
