That's the point...

And that is why stable GoD+ open-source will never happen... lack of good developers, willing to spend free time to do something for free. It isn't something uncommon these days... even crappy unicorn packs are distributed very well so, packs developed by proven teams of course would be more expensive.

Even if, by a miracle, I consider aCis done, I wouldn't dev postIL simply because the gameplay sucks and I don't find it appealing (+ none cares playing on such chronicles, you probably will find more ppl playing on C3/C5/IL than on a godamn unknown Tauti).

Eventually L2Classic, which is a "return to sources". But others, it's a big "nope".

And sdw stated something true, it must stay a joy to develop. That's why I got sometimes "holes" on aCis activity (like the first 20 days of January), because I'm not into a dev mood, and the day where I will force myself to develop means :

- I will soon saturate and stop for a way bigger time ;

- I'm paid enough to work as a full developer on the project, and then will considerate the project as professionnal and not simply an hobby (and tbh, if you knew how much hours I coded, you would probably cry).

The thing is, L2J is so big (and terribly coded for L2JIL) than you got always something to do. So if you are perfectionist, you're ready for a never-ending tale.

Well, there are no GoD+ actually, so the people have no choice...

Since the L2J Unity project has been created, there are no progress with the GoD+ open-source projects. Seems all the people capable of doing it are there.

To be honest the best thing that someone with knowledge and passion for l2 should do i start a l2classic project. Servers are there for testing and people already started moving backwards to that again.

I would honestly love to work on something like that in my spare time but I'm not sure if people want to open l2classic servers.

Why not?

Who is Bolomiro? Booromiro? A, Borinio, BOORINIO!

yes i live under tiny rock

If that's a real question he was project leader on L2JHellas (IL pack project), which had "success" only on MxC, most probably because it was made by a greek. If you ask me what he did,... Answer would be less accurate. He fixed things for one year or so on its pack, then decided to drop entirely the project (which shows you how probably worthy was the work done).

Anyway, that does already 12 days he has been added and nothing came (is he moxos12 ?), just saying. Shyla words don't even introduces new developer, he just make the history of what was L2JFrozen (and I already knew everything, even if not based on team).

Sorry for being that negative, I would also need a good free challenger in order to get some of their fixes, muhehe. Never happened so far.

Also one thing which tickles me : after 1y, there were strictly NO bug reports (170 bugs reports since months). How does it come, while none administrated it to care about ?

Well I have been around making servers since Prelude, and there is no fucking way I'm going back to that so old fart like me can live again their teenage years for approximatively 2 weeks top Edited by Sdw

I guess that will attract some devs to work on it, but if it will be an opensource project will die again soon.

And i say this cause think about IL and H5, there are so many free/paid projects and check how many servers are opened.

For example let's say about GF,Freya, there is only 1 or 2 projects which are currently no more working on them and look how many GF,Freya servers are out there online.

L2Classic did a comeback and made some oldschool players to love it and start playing again but if it will be a public project imagine 3,4 L2Classic servers to be opened every week.. It will die very soon. (My Opinion ofc)

It's not a problem to get numerous pointless servers, at least for a pack developer. Every report is good to take, from the moment it is valid.

For an admin point of view, if your server offers strictly nothing more than others and is based on broken sources, yup you will have hard time. But that's right for any games, even MMOs made by AAA companies. On L2J, the fact you use good sources doesn't mean you will make a successful server, but at least you can say it won't backstab you with a poisonous dagger.

Yeap that's true.

It's not about which project you use, but the work you put on it.

Ofc if you get a well developed project you will need less work on some things and you got a change to build something better but still you need to work a lot.

The bad thing with the most "admins" on l2 scene is that they will always look for a project with 0 bugs, 0 problems, full of balance, etc something that is not exist.

From what i've seen the last years from admins which i helped on some things they get a pack and they will find one problem and they will start blame the project owner, the developer that build the server and he won't even think that he can't get files without problems, bugs, etc.

A bugless pack is just utopia, period :). Moreover on something as huge as L2J, which has changed of leader few times, and has been edited by 20-40+ ppl, with contributions of 100+ ppl, with different writing styles (at least for L2JIL).

And I must add L2 is, by essence, not balanced. Simply see dvp pvp videos. So when ppl begin to do things like 1h buffs 24-28 buffslots always filled, ofc it won't be balanced, as L2 has never been meant to be played like that (2min buff is 2min for a reason maybe, and +16 enchant is hard to obtain because of a reason, but try to explain that...). Formulas simply can't stand high values.

The hardest part for a L2Classic project would be packet sniffing and reports from the actual L2Classic official server.

If people would do that then it would be a no brainer for me to try and make a L2Classic project.

That's the easiest part
