So every day we see servers open and close.

In your opinion why is that?

What makes you leave or stay at a server and what would you like in a server?

They not close always because of players i see 150 on one server and close next days that means that owner open the server only for donations.

+they buy dedicated servers and waiting get rich of the server , one pc with 3-4 cost 20e/month dont buy 150 euro dedicated servers you can handle easy 600 people with that specs.

To not see you making one.

Lack of realised goals.

Whatever they are.

If I had a set of goals I wanted to achieve through the medium of a server and I couldn't achieve them, I'd close it too.

Karasu the master of the Edit button :), The only reason why servers fail because they are mostly ran on a shitty VPS with no protection, or a pack that is completely useless with no new features and no stability.

like reunion  :happyforever:  :happyforever:  :happyforever: or frozen but thats just the beginning of failure.

Nevermore is the basic example of failure with his l2 empire, he had 180 online and he failed in 1 day. Thats how good reunion pack is.

My servers always last 1-2 months at least! "thats because community gets bored of just pvping randomly like fags" so...

That's an issue of mid/high rate servers mostly since they do not require as much dedication as a low rate does. Basically, one problem is that people can have access to end-game way too easily, resulting in them getting bored extremely fast and finally quitting looking for something fresh. This could be fixed by constant and rational content release (at the extent it's possible in a private server obviously.) This includes events, gameplay/balance tweaks and whatever might be desired by the community. On balance, keep the players interested by not turning the game into a "routine".

Also, direct comfortation against top-geared guys is not as fun for a new player, which discourages them from continuing to play. That's a common phenomenon in high/mid rates. When the server gets a bit old, pve is a PAIN for newcomers, since they get bullied by older players. I'm not sure what a good solution for this would be. Creating peace zones for pve ruins the entire concept of a PVP server. Maybe making PKing punishing could patrially solve this, since it also encourages clans to make wars. What's more annoying than a clan that does not accept or drops wars? :d

It's very simple. There are basically two kinds of servers, if we exclude those homemades not worth mentioning:

1. - Servers with a lot of hard work put in them but not enough advertising. They have a potential to be long, stable +1k servers since devs take care of them, make constant events, don't make OP donations etc; BUT they thought the players will somehow come on their own which didn't happen since they had no idea that such server exists.

2. - Servers with a lot of advertising, but non existent work on them - aka copy pasta generic middle rates á la L2Tales - 20-50x rates, alt+b buffer, gmshop up to S, done. A lot of people come because that's the most popular settings now, but soon they realize devs are just sitting on their butts, collecting the money and doing nothing - even the events are fully automatic. When they reach some final point there's nothing to do, because admin's bank account is filled and they don't care anymore.

L2 community is not as huge as it used to be, but I think there's still potential to create a largest server ever if you somehow manage to accomplish both these points. However it's obvious it would have to be unique project with continously updated lategame content, perfect newcomers packs after months etc and for love of heavens, extreme advertising.

Forceable war for an adena fee.

The aggressing clan must then hunt down the forced war targets to kill them in hopes of getting enough drops/rewards/whatever in order to financially break even with the war cost or maybe even profit.

Or just force war for luls. Lose some adena, bu no safety for carebears.

Good adena sink as well...

Servers fail to capture my interest.I mean one server that I would play the shit out of would be Interlude l2 pride(even now). The wannabe l2 pride servers are pretty bad and fail to capture the 'magic' of the original.

    • I just found it funny that you reversed the reverse engineer champions. They won't like this for sure.    Anyway, the project vision is very good it is aligned with what the players need and want something that both e-global and l2reborn has failed to provide. These are stable projects, they are not good "games". And players play "games" they don't play "projects".  When no good "games" exist, they flock towards good "projects". Lineage 2 private scene has produced decent projects the last years, but no decent "game". I hope you are the first ones to do so.   Generally there are two axis that Lineage 2 needs to evolve on. Modern gaming concepts and the need to respect the aging player's time. So far, most projects treat these aspects as taboo, they seem so afraid to deviate from what they call "true" Lineage 2. But the reality is that times change, you can't stay static forever, you have to evolve. NCSoft failed, they are not paving the way no more. It is us now, the collective community that have to pave our own pathways. WoW has went the same way, private projects took initiative because the company (while not failed) could not steer the game towards what players want and need in 2026.    For that reason I believe your project is going towards the right direction. The four keystones listed in the vision is what I believe is the community really needs but clearly doesn't understand it wants, because noone so far has give them a glimspe of what is beyond their retail-like garden.    I personally don't respect projects like reborn and e-global. As "games", they are simply trash, regardless of their high professionalism as endeavors. They lack innovation, they lack creativity, they are simply good software products,
    • Giving up has never been part of my mindset. I respect projects like Reborn and E-Global they've earned their reputation. But every successful project started with people saying it would fail. If everyone gave up because there was competition, nothing new would ever exist. Skepticism is completely fair, and I'm not asking anyone to blindly believe in promises. Judge us by what we release, not by assumptions. That's exactly why we're taking our time instead of rushing something unfinished. At the end of the day, time will tell. I'd rather try to build something different and fail than never try at all.
    • Good luck beating projects like reborn eglobal and other crap l can bet you will give up after 1 year or first grand opening after online drops😁  l am very sceptical if honestly, at least run test server first or make something to show 🙂
    • Dunno, I have a friend who's really good at reverse engineering, so I don't really see a reason for anyone to be mad about it. At the end of the day, if someone has the skills and knowledge to do something, that's just part of the scene.
    • O boy are the russians gonna get mad now that you connected to their client 😛
