Εγώ όσες φορές είχα server (L2Relapse, L2Relapse 2, L2Retro ) χρησιμοποιούσα αυτό το μοντέλο. Είχα δηλαδή κάποιον που ήταν sponsor/διοργανωτής και εστίαζα καθαρά σε development. Δούλευε μπορώ να πω και έβγαζε λεφτά. Καλή η πρόταση νομίζω, αλλά φοβάμαι πως είναι σε λάθος καιρούς όπου το lineage δεν έχει πλέον και πολύ πέραση.

There is no secret ingredient for a successful server. Also the battle of the awesome server won't be judged at the MP potion restoration rate being 0.2 or 0.4. Although it might count :P Anyway, there are two sad truths when making a server. First, you got many competitors who usually play dirty trying to achieve much with the least possible effort. Those include cases like super hypes before server opening,advertising everywhere, using other peoples shares cause they cant code shit or false feature promises. Regardless of how sucessful your competitors will be at persuading players or creating a server they are many. If each competitor gets 10 players, you already start to see the problem. There's not much you can do about this since L2J is open source, easy to configure and anyone with the ability to give a blowjob can get some bucks in his hands to host a server. Second, you will not be able to satisfy everyone. If four people in this topic can't agree on the MP potions you can percieve the dissagreement between 5k+ player base for the countless of features the game has. When starting a server, be sure what you are trying to make and who you are going to attract to play in it. If you make a lowrate, you wont get the higrate players, dont even try reaching them. Equally a custom highrate server will not attract many ( if any ) lowrate players. So decide what server you would like to make, figure out what kind of people would like to play that type of server and keep this type of people pleased by fixing what they dont like and implementing what they would expect form you. PS: Silvermoon, having a gif super sexy cool darkelf lagging my browser by swinging its sword doesnt make you cool. It makes you an idiot.

Wurm Online is a sandbox mmorpg written in java I found recently. Its attraction value is not the graphics or the hack and slash killing but mainly the ability you have to change the world around you in any way. Not the game for the casual action gamer, more for the creator type of gamer. ( Those that have played farmville will know ). Told ya it would fail (and there never were 300 players online, max first day i saw in site was 106 at rush hour, then it went to 85 next day and then you removed the count from the site. )... Now can you tell me who from l2junited you are as a reward for my prediction ? Cause there's a more serious issue here, which is some people capitalizing L2J for their own needs while they have private packs ... And there's lot of discussion in that matter ... What we can sum it up as , is : Open source terrorism.

Ο τίτλος στο dekarma είναι για να καταλάβουν οι άλλοι τον λόγο όχι για να την πεις στον τιμωρημένο. Επειδή το έχω ψάξει το θέμα με clan που είχα στον L2Retro γεμάτο facists και διαβάζοντας το αντίστοιχο topic , η νομοθεσία για τον κομουνισμό και τον φασισμό διαφέρει από κράτος σε κράτος. PX στην Αμερική απαγορεύονται και τα δύο. Στην Ελλάδα επιτρέπονται. Το έκανα εγώ restore.

Open a smart server and you will make that without the need for too much coding. See szponiasty's pack for example and the way he "markets" it. Completelly wrong. Great pack, great technology, but they way he promotes it, it is irrelevant to players. I myself still dont understand how his vector engine ( whats that again ? ) works. And then you got a 30 mins video of monsters attacking each other and dropping down some items. Then you check the comments and he is angry that he got 10 dislikes and 2 likes :) Thats what i call great code, badly promoted :) Here's how i would promote it : You enter the town that has NPC talking/walking looking as if they are doing their normal work. You move towards some npc horse, double click it, it vanishes and you are riding it. You run with the hourse out of the town. There you see a farm and an NPC girl get attacked by AI orcs. You dis-beep-t, rush in, kill the orcs. The girl evolves into an ally stance towards you and gives you items or probably follows you. You take the items ( turns out is a blessed scroll ) use it on your weapon to go +1 more. And then you -beep-t the horse again looking for the next big adventure. Thats how you promote technology. There are three things people like in games. Exploration of the unknown, an inventory full of items and a big e-pennis of legendary achievment :) 3000 orcs running around killing each other without the player interacting at all, sure wont achieve any of the previously mentioned.

Yes. But there are no private servers that dont accept donations. Even if they dont say it, they do under the table. Pretty sure about it :)

Is your server a church or a philanthropic organization ? If not, you cant accept donations. You have to register your income and pay taxes. That's why almost all private servers are illegal. Not because of the files or NcSoft, but due to tax evasion. To accept donations you must be registered and approved from your country or whatever to do so.

I dont know if you are real or trolling us, but since most of us here are not ok in their brains ( confirmed for myself ) , i would suggest not listening to anyone and go talk to a psycholoy specialist ( aka doctor ). It's not that expensive and sure there's a license in his wall that says HE is the person you need to talk to and not random people in forums.

Retail wont last long. It's just the fashion. Most people will quit retail soon. And that is good for private servers, cause they will come back bored from grinding but ... but more experienced in gameplay and teamplay. They left pvpless, crying , siegeless noobs, they will come back mature and ready to create good community. @fokys The same thing is if "bots" try to register. Once again, private forums wont affect DDoS success. Most Denial of Service attacks target the TCP/UDP level not the web level.
