Interlude - Mimesis and Necrophilia

I have been considering reviving L2 pPerseus, the gem of 2008-2014, the apex of interlude custom pvp servers outside of original pride and most importantly a defining project for the custom community (since I still see MANY servers still using some of my features and shares to this day). However this begs the question, why is iordanov furiously working away on his interface trying to bring classic to interlude? Why is sgerdev bringing goddess+classic to c4 and interlude? why do most servers pick the classic UI over the interlude one, or add classic features to their interlude servers? Maybe classic is doing something right, or perhaps better than interlude (in every way)? I understand there are differences in gameplay and both have its ups and down, but on classic the pros far outweigh the cons compared to interlude. There is also a great classic assembly out there similar to what early acis was. Nobody is giving it attention (l2jmobius).

 

the question is..........

Why are people still masterbating to Interlude? All interlude players seems to be obsessed with necrophilia or perhaps working towards being a mortician. Interlude admins/devs are in a sense raping themselves by working on something which is already available and better. Why are people not instead trying to make classic to interlude? L2 dex got the idea. So did averia and e global.

 

This also brings me to my radical conclusion.

 Interlude, like fecal matter, is beneath us. Obsessing over your feces and talking/playing/prodding/poking your stool is not only extremely unhealthy and abnormal but it serves as a complete halt to progress. Normal men bury it in a hole and keep on going. Or flush it down your toilet. Furthermore this can be related to the dead. It is not healthy or normal to keep a corpse in your bathtub and put makeup on it and dress it up just so you can take a selfie on instagram tagging the faux morticians page. This is what Interlude devs are essentially doing.

Working on interlude is a sign of depression. Forever living in the past.

 

Advantages of classic base

all new accessories, widgets, gadgets or whatever you want to call it ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE

improved ui, very organized, all functions needed

improved graphics, shaders, effects, options, keybindings etc

extremely versatile and flexible client 

prevents stealing customs, due to complicated system files and requires a good knowledge to work with

prevents interface botters/custom interfaces

limits adrenaline users to max 3 bots per key

improved balance and reworked classes such as warlord and summoners and necromancer

custom abnormal effects can be easily programmed, possibilites are endless

more item slots (brooch, talis, bracelets, belts which are all optional)

limitless html size, which opens up the option for more intricate designs

superior olympiad system

olympiad/pvp relys on brain rather than pure item advantage

scarcity of servers - only 2 choices (lionna or europa)

only 1-2 developers (l2scripts, emu, mobius)

 

disadvantages

limited map, many zones missing (need to add back manually)

new client, maybe people dont want to download 9 gb again

server files are questionable, geodata

too many new items? talismans, agathion bracelets, gems/broochs, belts

hard to update manually

harder to customize without knowledge, cant copy paste or download ready made shares

 

in fact once i think about this, why would anybody choose to run on a interlude client base anymore outside of better server files?

everything interlude is superior in gameplay wise can easily be added back in to classic client

 

some smart russians are already doing this, like eglobal and averia. why is there no pvp servers either?

This excuse still exists? Omg 9-10 gb download, gg I won't even bother join your server. 

For real? In Greece we reached 200mbps. Solid states become even cheaper and with bigger space. Get serious ppl. Stop complaining.

What SSD has to do with download? Even tho you have cheap ssd you barely know how it works. Go ahead write 10 GB on your SSD and check its lifespawn.

Talking from an interlude player perspective:

 

I'd say it's mostly the "fear of the unkown". Also some of the advantages you've listed in using client base would probably turn interlude players away as it is no longer an interlude (new olympiad for example).

 

Interlude files + customs from higher chronicles -> people know what they get plus some nice customs

 

classic files + certain interlude features -> people would be unwilling to try it imo (questionable files + too many new things that it's no longer an interlude)

 

PS: About oly/pvp in interlude, there could be LOTS of improvements, especially in java interlude, yet im shocked to see that barely anybody has bothered with them.

Download speeds was the 1st argument and the 2nd one was cheaper space (hdd or sdd).

No matter how cheap SSD is u can't use it as an HD. So 10 GB on ssd IS OUT of question unless you never heard how they work or you don't care for the 200-250e u gave and u want it to die without any warning

This is another example, why is everybody trying so hard to bring classic to their archaic clients rather than work on classic and bring old features back? It's completely bizarre to me as to why anybody would choose to keep working on Gracia or interlude rather than introducing Gracia or interlude content to classic

Because it's harder to be done. Especially while working on l2off GOD+ files which have great interface but a lot of differences in dll files which makes old interlude gameplay be very hard to accomplish.

Ok. I don't know for others and can't answer for that but what I can tell you about me.

 

When you have worked on a project weather that is interlude or whatever. Personally, I have spent thousands of hours thinking, creating, changing, developing, fixing it's potential stuff. 

 

And yes that work although it could be re-written or re-coded to a higher server sources let's say, well that has both it's good sides and down sides. BUT (and this is a fact):

 

Asking the community is the key answer to the puzzle in such dilemmas. And you know what the community answers  ? "We want to play what we know to play what we have good knowledge and what we remember as lineage 2."

 

So in such situations, this makes admins who want to implement updates and give fresh things to do etc. to take actions like these and take such decisions.

 

This is the full answer to your question and the reason you see all that.
