Szakalaka Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Adding to it the Blizzard's takedown of this legacy server, why the fuck people think they can just rip off their work? They created it, they invested the money and time to create entire client side + all art assets ( and server is maybe 10% of the whole ). You dont have fuckin right to steal someone's work. You just dont. And im not speakin defending any company, but i would be pissed on the same level if someone did it to me. It does not matter if its a legacy version, if its 10 years old. If you feel so strong, create your own game, do what LoL did to DotA - profit. Quote

Even if Ncsoft dropped support on old chronicles doesnt mean we have the rights to do whatever we like with it, we use Ncsoft's game client to connect, its a violation of their terms and they have the right to issue any complaint, even if that one was not from Ncsoft... What makes me laugh is some people calling Ncsoft a shity company and such, but hey, you are playing a shity company's game, even an very old version of it's game, you even donate for this game on private servers, and after some time you cry because of wipe or close... (when I say you I don't mean the post author which I quoted of course) Quote

Except LoL creators were part of Dota Allstars team, and DotA was never a Game itself, it was a map/mod of WC3(as you can see DOTA2 changed a lot of names, items, heroes, due to copyrighted material). None of the current available "developers" are able, knowledge-wise, to form a team and create a whole new game. Neither they can afford paying a game making studio to create it. Quote
