The same happens to me. You even get mail informing about login fail attempts and for security reasons account is locked. But, I'm starting to doubt that someone constantly try to log our accounts. Could be some wild problem.

I remember not being able to access MXC in some countries due to their ISPs, unless I was using a VPN.

It is a bit off-topic, but it could be there the problem.
