• Its not coded from scratch
• No patent applied
• He bought this from you,if someone informs the court about that,your gonna have a problem (was talking the guy who was selling the files)

According to this http://www.gnu.org/licenses/ . You are not allowed to sell it,and its absolutely free if its useful,u can share it,modify it and much more.

So, his statement is kinda invalid, cuz he break the copyrights as well, selling not his work. :P
