L2OFF: More stable. L2J: Stable, but not as L2OFF.

 

Advantages of L2OFF:

 

-Stability

-You know that since you paid for OFF files, you won't regret it.

 

Disadvantages of L2OFF:

 

-You need to pay for OFF files

-If you were developing L2J servers you will have hard time developing L2OFF servers, because of the different language.

 

Advantages of L2J:

 

-Free

-Open source, you can do w/e u want with it

-Free help by the L2J team + maxcheaters + everyone in other forums/websites.

-Supported language: Java

 

Disadvantages of L2J:

 

-Not as stable as L2OFF files

-You need to fix +/- a lot of things.

 

So, if you're asking us whats the difference between them, so you can select one of them I would highly recommend you L2J, free updates, free help, open source. And it's not illegal like L2OFF files.(Since its emulator)

If you run clean l2jserver without massive mods, its as stable as any l2off server. The problem with l2j is that its still missing some mechanics & features.

 

Also.

 

Stable means: no console errors (clean code), no crashes, optimal performance under stress etc.

 

Stable doesnt mean: that everything is 100% complete skill,npc,formulas,quests/instances/mobs/raids wise.

And what about newer leaks like Gracia Final ? Is still based on C4 ? I don't thinks so. What about COEP project ? Its Open Source, people can do any forks with it, and do whatever they want, Open Source, means that, not that others will do the job for you and you will download the source, compile it, and brag about being a big programmer.

Dont even compare L2J with OFF. (Almost every kid has his own l2jserver nowadays)

As you may or may not know l2off is based on leaks, what this means is for example every chronicle beetwen C4 and hellbound is based on the C4 leak, now what that means is that you have a c4 retail pack thats fine and dandy if you have a c4 server, but when you have a newer chronicle than you have a C4 pack with an extender which is basically client compatibility as far as basics goes.

 

Simply put an interlude off means c4 off with interlude compatibility, while on l2j it means interlude pack with interlude features with interlude stuff in it.

The difference is quite simple one is open source platform based on a JIT VM language - while the other way is the retail professionally compiled direct application leaks.

 

Point being - it's a shitload harder to change a compiled application for a specific target (windows\x86) than a VM language with a intermediate language compiling to the target platform on runtime.

 

And this is also the reason L2Off is practicly dead - because you won't get anywhere except open scripting without investing buttload of time to effectively cracking the daemons\exe's to change stuff.

 

 

The further away you get from a base leak(c1,c4,gf) - the more work you intensively require to invest in learning\cracking to "make a system\feature".

off packs actually use l2j source to update sadly :D ofc just like in l2j you have superpremium sources in off too but the fact remains the same.

Jesus it's a pointless discussion.

 

Each programming language has it's strengths and weaknesses.

 

But a Managed language will never EVER be faster than to the metal hardware language in a pure performance standpoint.
