mantasxx Posted September 11 Posted September 11 "How many L2Gold copies are there nowadays? Why is it that no one can gather a team of at least 10 people to create a proper L2Gold server instead of all these half–finished clones?"

TheDarknessFear Posted September 11 Posted September 11 It depends on which ones you're referring. Many of the projects that are out there aren't half-completed or w/e. Depends on who created such projects, how invested and their know-how of each aspect of the game, development (client, game). There are plenty of good projects out there that has positive feedback and community respect. On the other hand, there are also "projects" with 0 know-how that found 2013 shared files, and they declare their server as "Gold". Which one are you referring to?

There are plenty of good projects out there that has positive feedback and community respect. On the other hand, there are also "projects" with 0 know-how that found 2013 shared files, and they declare their server as "Gold". Which one are you referring to? Let’s start from the beginning. The original L2Gold.cc server shut down in 2013. Since that time, the real and authentic L2 Gold Rush has not existed, and the reasons for its closure remain unknown. From what I know, after that moment many copies started to appear – people who had no real idea how to recreate the original server simply began releasing imitations under different names such as gold.in, gold.net, gold.org, gold.us, and so on. Am I wrong?
TheDarknessFear Posted September 11 Posted September 11 As far as I know, L2Gold stated (unofficially) that closed for legal reasons. Although, my estimation is that it had reached such low popularity (believe me I know, I played till the last day), so they closed it because of that. As for "other" copies or w/e. I believe that everyone has the right to do what they think is best. I have to say, I find your claims a bit exaggerating. Many servers have done a good job at recreating such a server. There are actually leaked files of C4 L2Gold (L2OFF) so many owners started working from there (L2Gold.cc (old Avellan), L2Gold.in, L2Gold.co etc.) There are other owners that took the idea 1 step further, adapting L2Gold in higher Chronicles and started working on a brand-new style with old features along. @Trance @Brado @To4kA (those are some of the owners that I can think of right now). I think you should re-think your opinions and don't judge them all together. Many of the servers you've mentioned has actually done a decent job and tried to take the brand, one step further. The argument here is that everyone should do what they want. Community will judge if it's good or bad.
Brado Posted September 14 Posted September 14 What does ‘half-finished’ even mean? Most projects based on L2Off use essentially the same files made for gold-style servers, and they’re fully functional. As for the L2J branches, calling them ‘half-finished’ couldn’t be further from the truth, they’re not only complete in the sense of gold-style projects but are actually extended with even more features. 1

SkyLord Posted September 16 Posted September 16 From what i know, nothing is really like L2gold.cc. The other servers are just copies people try to make. L2gold.cc is with a lot of class balance changes/ scripts/AI.obj, which makes it different.

Over the years it developed a bad branding, tho. 1

Nightw0lf Posted September 17 Posted September 17 in terms of "Java" even this comment can be copied and presented as l2gold related pack in terms of "l2off" real l2gold copies very few, actual live servers can be counted in 1 hand Q:Why is it that no one can gather a team of at least 10 people because you need 10 experienced people, each has their own life, commitments and finally different views of how that server should actually work because all of them would expect something ($$$$) in return for their suposed involvement and such projects dont even go out of development. ps let me know who you would trust to do this i dare you name 3 only people not 10. finally i keep the copyrights for this post from becoming an l2gold server 1

Trance Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) While I respect every other admin who launches a server, including L2Gold, I can proudly say that we’ve built a community where each season brings significant changes and numerous updates. We had anywhere from a few hundred players to nearly one thousand unique players (season 2). The server has already been rebuilt three times on different client protocols, each time introducing something fresh to the table. L2Gold Essence against most other servers; you’ll notice the difference immediately: no lag, no odd movement bugs, the best geodata (which we’ve continually improved), high FPS during mass PvP, and overall smooth gameplay. Just a single in-game click makes the contrast clear compared to servers that still feel stuck in 2007 in terms of innovation. There were times when things went very wrong due to major code reworks, refactors, and the lack of proper testing, but everything was eventually resolved. Not only that, but we’ve also attracted CPs and clans that had never played L2Gold before. That’s one of the main reasons why we reached a higher player count than any gold-style server when compared to the original one back in the days. 100~ videos playlist: Edited September 18 by Trance 1
