Gameserver load without errors but handlers are not loading

Question

Posted

Hello Maxcheaters.

My server L2j Hi5 was working fine until I updated java. After that when I started the gameserver, it loads just fine without any errors but I don't see the part where the handlers are loaded and when I log into the game with my GM char or a regular char I can not target any Npc or Mob, none of the commands work, including the gm commands, in another words no handler works.

So I guess the Masterhandler.java is not loading, why if it give me no errors?

How can I fix this problem?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Probably you have to downgrade java version, but just in case i  will ask. What version was before update and  what version is now?

I think it was 1.6 and now is 1.7

I updated to a newer version and got lots of problems, so I downgrade it to 1.7 since I could not go back to 1.6. and now this is the only thing that doesn't work, the whole server work but I can't target, use voice commands, gm commands and probably other things that are loaded with the Masterhandler.java.

I can guarantee that it's what @Vilmis said. Some projects simply are NOT compatible with all java versions so you have to stick what what they are compatible and are written to work with.

Man, it doesn't work like that. You must downgrade to old version. All servers is adapted to one version and version changing can make a lot of problems (depending code). If you have server source files you must start upgrading from there and when you will be finished then you can upgrade server machine . ;)

It's extremely rare Java drops content from one version to another (it generally deprecates it, but that doesn't block you to use it). Stuff is normally compatible if you evolve Java, and ofc you can have issues if you use older Java since methods and content wasn't existing on previous Java version.

Not sure if your pack relies on the external compiler L2J was using for a long time (libraries called ecj, python-engine and java-engine), but you should dump it in any case - first because it delays your server startup of 45sec-3min in worst case scenario, second because you got no control over the library content so your current problem can occur and you wouldn't get a fuck about it on error logs, third because it's barely useful (personal pov).

Normally, the name of libraries give you an hint about which Java version you should run (cf. aCis was using java-engine-1.7 in 2011).
