so some corrections: When NC starts prosecution against a server in Hungary, the court can apply international-law (these are after e-mails and "fck u nc i wont close my server" procedure :P), and when international-law is the used procedure sample, NC have any right to apply and validate USA law for Austin/Texas in Hungary. And when do so, ur server hosting will be illegal and you will pay or get jailed (in harder situation). Because my sister isnt international lawyer (its another profession branch in the judgement) she wasnt able to say more about this, but these are the facts in short, how (the fckdup) hungaian law and courts should work when NC decide to close a hungarian server. @amelie: No ur wrong in the basics. It IS illegal to host an emu-server or create any emulation etc... Any emulation, patch, rework, modify wich isnt the NCsoft's product is illegal. And an answer for ur question: There isnt any server at this time in the private servers section that harm NCsoft so badly that NCsoft want to do against anything. The procedure of a servers closing isnt cheap, it costs a hell lot of money and time and a lot of server closes itself in short time. I can count on my ONE HAND how many old servers are online from the beginning, but they are also countless in the eye of NC...

I personally have read almost the whole story online when it was going on, after 4 day i didnt. The fact that the piratebay guys had been condemned and need to pay some million bucks, how you can say that isnt got applyed in a non usa country the usa law? :) Law isnt that you read in lawyer books and see on the tv :) Every judge have an opinion, how he/she must apply the words of the law (Law-Interpretation). Law books are used ony for guidelines and say what can be the punishment. When some country haven't saw a crime like the actually before, the judge can search and use another country's law for example when the crime was similar. This is what the law simply call: precedent-law. So when in my country (Hungary) will be a guy arrested cuz he hosted an L2 server, first the court and the prosecutor's office will or should contact with the software's owner wich is NCsoft. From this point the court will/should apply the precedent-law, cuz here in Hungary wasn't any similar crime before that the court can be used for example and also the court can call upon some IT experts to ask :) But i will ask my older sister (she's a judge :)) that i know it right or i just wrote a bullcrap :D

But in the LUA NC says, creating an emulator is also broke the violation of terms. How come this to a country-law when it has been wrote in black and white? Only way to protect an offical server or any private server from walker may need to change the whole login procedure with some on-the-fly generated bypass code to enter the game, like a lot of games do so and they can do a lot of things to protect official servers from bots, but they have a lot of money from walker users too, so they wont do it, only sometimes they make some bans to chill the legal players and thats all. Protection from sniffers are impossible and thats why private servers can follow official updates so easly. @The guy who sayd that there are only 4-5 WoW servers: lol mate are you on weed or some stuff like that? :D :D :D there are a lot of WoW servers, just watch some voting rank site... But wow is a different story, Blizzard is bigger company than NCsoft, they can do that they dont deal with the private servers, cuz they have enogh money from the official players and developement are so different that scripts wont be so funny and enjoyable on the private servers like on the official... Generally all the 2 big company knows that private servers are problems for their income, but when they fall into exorcism to kill all the private servers, they will spend more money to close the "illegal" private servers, than they earn from official players. This way only the biggest servers are in some trouble when they can handle a lot of player and the developement are really good enough to keep up with the official updates as closest they just can (new quests, items and all the new places, scripts, etc...). But atm. only a few server is good enough to do so, but they have only Hellbound chronicle (with the worst client ever made) and some Gracia pt2. without a countable Gracia features. At WoW private servers section are also some big servers that can count in the eye of Blizzard, but that servers have a lot of custom features. Both company closed some great developed servers (L2 and WoW too) that was really, really close what official can give to the players. So when you have a great developed server and a lot of players, keep some major bugs alive and you will be in safe :) PS: This topic should be at better place in the General L2 Section of this forum :P

You need a keygenerator and spam it for some new key, that install with it and you can join a lot of server this way. Also there are a lot of cracked servers. But when you want to join some better quality servers, than you will need to buy it... install xfire and you will find more easly servers to play... http://www.xfire.com/
