There is no such thing as a best mage. You can easily state that Ol is the best mage debuffer, sph is the best mage to use for farming and raiding, sps/sorc is the best mage for small scaled pvp, ee is the best at healing and buffing while necro is ... ehhhh... well he's is uselless atm. But still, it all comes to personal preference and party/clan setups. e.g. SPH is the best nuker to raid with, but you'l never use him to raid AQ. No comment about SK or SB. They are NOT mages, they just have some nukes.

Mages are weak because of the armor elemental defences. Surrender needs to be +30 to land when most of the mages wont be able to find a bog or two. Classes that own are the class that can burst while the tank some damage too. TL;DR Tyrants, glads, daggers
