Nothing will change Admiral bad reputation after he took $ from guys in ddos-shield and disappeared, now out of nothing he comes up with 'new brand' lol. And to add, he is reselling something claiming to be his own solution without ever mentioning it is OVH hahaha... PS: If you paid for this, you just throw your money into the trash can really...

In these forums, people rush quickly to what is 'cheap' without checking anything. Later they come and cry, because they lost their small money :P.

OVH / Voxility reseller, nothing special, better to buy directly from these 2 companies, because, instead of a pretty website and a live chat + ticket panel, they will not do anything else other than OVH or Voxility... I don't like much to say this, but now, everyone think that buying 2 dedicated servers somewhere, makes you actually a company able to mitigate DoS/DDoS attacks, pretty fun probably... But they forgot, before getting into this that : - They don't know about DoS/DDoS attacks. - If the company they buy services from have issues, they can't do anything about it. - If the company can't solve the problem with an attack for them, the customer will also not get the issue resolved. - OVH / Voxility have instable & laggy networks, however, if it is to get services from them, at least get it directly, instead through an intermediator / reseller. Considering their suppliers, I can safely say, everything there is completely overpriced... For U$$ 99.99 a month, you can get many resources from OVH for example, so paying this just to have a proxy, through a OVH server, without anything else, is really expensive, just check their prices for their servers... A little more about the company : Domain Name: OVER-LIMITS.COM Creation Date: 2013-09-25 15:25:00Z And they still claim to have over 200 game servers, with a 1 month old company, that nobody know about, and that is starting the advertisement just now ? Looks to be surely a scam. Not to mention, you all know who is this company, 'ddos-shield.net', and you know what happened before hehehe... This is why, before buying something, you must seek for user feedback, check if the company does have its own ip address space, infrastructure and if they are really a company, not just a website claiming to be a company...

Zemaitis, your opinion is your opinion, my opinion is my opinion. I don't really care, if you think OVH is the god of the datacenters, this is not the reality here, you are unexperienced with it. I have been using OVH in the last 4 years, so I can assure you I am 100% correct in what I've write about it.

One thing is sure, cheap will never be good. The cheapest you find, the most used the hardware is, and the highest is the chance for a failure happens causing you downtime. Example, OVH sells a very high end server in terms of 'settings' for a cheap price, compared to other datacenters, such as Leaseweb or Softlayer for example. You will say the last 2 are way more expensive compared to OVH, but the difference is : 1) They provide you new hardware (12~18 months used max, this apply to HDD), while OVH provides you (36-48 month used servers, this also includes the HDD [it means it is near to its death, and can fail any time). 2) They provide you quicker response times, usually within 20 minutes, up to 1~2 hours to have your problem solved, while OVH takes around 2~3 hours to reply and sometimes almost a day or two, to fully solve the issue. 3) They have premium bandwidth, it means their traffic has first priority on the backbones of the internet, OVH has a budget connectivity, it means their traffic is always in 2nd place (Hence why unmetered offers and so on). 4) They have a very stable network, while as you can see here : (http://status.ovh.co.uk), OVH does have many problems within their network daily. So well, numbers are numbers, and in this example we have used OVH as 'cheap' option, but cheap is not good and will not be good. Before people ask, I've checked my servers in OVH and I can confirm these numbers. If you don't believe it, check IPMI and SMART of your disks ;).

There are no white-hats when you speak about breaking the terms of the service you have agreed, how stupid, jesus christ lol. Be happy mr cheap guy ;).

Do you realize that 'testing' the way you want is illegal ? What do you have in your head, seriously ? :) Be happy with your cheap-budget service and once you have issues and your customers are in risk because of them, give them a good reason instead of 'It was fault of the provider', because this is all you can do, Mr OVH Reseller.

I am not speculating about anything. Learn to research stuff. Also you must learn to deal with people too, because you don't and this comes first before dealing with any type of business. If you think the universe is just limited to MXC Boards, you are pretty wrong :).

I wonder when a customer have a problem and you answer in the same level, telling all what your customer says, is purely bullshit.

Everything is sold out due to OVH own fault, they forgot to check that all the old customers would like to migrate to 'better' servers, for a price cheap than the old servers (Very stupid fault tbh), after they got a turnover of 30.000 servers, they had to stop selling all servers, because they've got a big financial loss. Now they are thinking on a strategy to solve that, only god knows what will it be. Your experience with OVH is just up to the merchandising they've put on what you've acquired. Everything works great (You have price and Hardware), but ONCE you have your first issue, you will figure out, that you will loss much more than you saved in the time, keep happy ;).

OVH and QUALITY are two words that doesn't combine together, same goes for CHEAP and GOOD. Everybody can get a machine in OVH and do what you are doing, in fact, dozens of resellers are doing it now thinking they are 'companies'. Now you have to deal with these types of comments, unless you move yourself to somewhere decent that makes you 'different' than 99.9% of the resellers around. The view people will have from your services, only depends in your chooses.

Your question for 'not overpriced', is just the failure point on what you are looking for : "DDoS Protected Server". I am sorry, but at a cheap price, all you will find is a cheap server without any support except the hardware and a very basic dos/ddos protection (yes the merchandising behind it is great, but when you need it, you know...). Cheap != Good (Especially, when it is about internet & computing), miracles doesn't exist, however, there are tons of sellers and offers waiting to catch you :).

Yeah, not denying your review, it is fine, However, you aren't sure on which attack technique you are being hit or on the real power of the attack, so cheap solutions can proof to be well on this scenario, the problem is when it really gets worse, and this is why you need to use it for quite some time, to notice and really check this.

Be specific about Layer 7 protection, because voxility system doesn't understand game packets in a deep level to perform Layer 7 packet inspection, all it can do is perform a very basic validation in web-requests (So you should mention it as : Layer 7 [basic HTTP]. For Layers 3 and 4, yes they do have mitigation circuits for udp/icmp and tcp. If it reach the level of (120 Gbps), there might be a higher false positive rate, due to the amount of small (TCP)SYN Packets/s making the filters to decrease the efficience, honestly at 5~10 Gbps there will be already around 20~30% false positives. Just informations that you should know, about your supplier. (They make a pretty advertisement, but this is the reality).

Considering you were 5 days stuck with something simple as a software ip limit in L2J, I am really in doubt whether you can really judge the effectiveness of this service... Not disagreeing with your point, but not just because someone 'is cool', everything works as it should works, use the service for at least 6 months then make a review about it, because generally, it is just 'too early' to like something you just started to use 5 days ago, I can tell this is almost normal...

Well, if you don't have budget available, you can try to start with ovh and see what happens... if you want to take the risk it is a way to go, if it doesn't works, then you didn't lost much anyways, because getting a dedicated somewhere else, with a cheap ddos protection, would be the same as doing this anyways... So, thats what you can do. In the other hand, if you want to invest money and improve your quality & reliability and reduce your risks, check the companies with a good reputation and choose any of them :).

@nekys yeah, the purpose of OVH adding ddos protection (real one), is that they had too many customers leaving, due to downtimes caused by customers receiving ddos attacks. Even I was one of them initially, because I had 10 video streaming servers there, that would constantly have issues due to other customers in the same racks or near it, receiving high traffic, causing the switches to crash or become unresponsive. After they've added this to their network, at least this issue was resolved, at the price of degrading the quality of the service, but not making it get completely offline (for the customer receiving the attacks). So at the same time, they reduced the number of complaints on their network, they managed to somewhat keep some of these customers running with a mid-sized impact, it is better than nothing, considering the size of their business and that they have about 5 independant networks to keep up with. We can't expect much, because since of the price they are practicing, even their teams or staff, may suffer from lacking hand work being available, so the most they automate it, the less they have to rely on support, the best it is. In fact, it may work good enough to some people, while for others it will be a nightmare, anyways DoS/DDoS is a serious problem so always you can expect having problems with it, since it is not a normal situation.
