Autoupdater

I would like to ask you if  a site of my server is needed in order to use autoupdater. I mean that is it a different way to download the system files without downloading all the system ?

when you use an updater changes are being made when there are changes but the updater so that only the jumps and updates as new data is not bone cliff greetings.
