seasoned Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Hello guys. I searched for parkour in Guides & Tutorials section and nothing. So today I'll teach you how to do pakour and what parkour is. (I love parkour...aka PK) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction: Parkour (aka PK) is a movement philosophy. S/o who practices parkour is known as Traceur, or traceuse if she is woman :P The art of parkour is about getting from place to place in the most efficient way possible. In theory, parkour is about learning to quickly navigate obstacles in an emergency situation. Training in parkour allows people to assess obstacles on an individual basis and decide on the best way for getting around them, based on the obstacle, the physical abilities of the practitioner, and the situation. There is an emphasis on smooth, limber movements, and training sometimes includes education in the martial arts. The mainly "creator" of parkour is David Belle. He was tought the "méthode naturelle" by his father (a method of natural movement for members of the military - the main theme of parkour) and then he created the thing we call Parkour. Parkour took its name from the word french word "parcours" = route. The main "goal" is to go from point A to point B as quickly as possible while you are using your body to pass the obstacles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Training : Before starting parkour: Watch pro trainers in action to get you in the spirit ;) (Suggestion: Daniel Ilabaca) clothing: a decent pair of trainers, only :D And here we go: First of all you must increase your resistance. So it would be better if you start by running 30 min - 1h per day for 1 week. After running (you can also do it in the week of running) you must practise and perfect you jumping and landing movements. Also you must practise on roll (how to land) movement. When you perfect your roll, you have to practise the "precision jumps" After that, you have to learn some "vaults". There are several vaults, more of them are used to overcome an obstacle, but there are some vaults just to add fun, or just to make it look more impressive. [suggestion: start practising by monkey, kong, dash, speed vaults] Here are some Vaults: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi8DemLNLbY&feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZT1WFmeo5k&feature=related There are so many vaults that I will stuck the mxc if I post them :P You can search in youtube for more vaults. Also, there are many specific vaults, for specific obstacles. I suggest you not to try them untill you are enough experienced. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flips: Flips are based on free-running. Free running is smth like parkour, but with more accrobat moves. Free-running creator is Sebastian Fucan (you maybe know him from the casino royale). To start practising flips, means that you have perfected yours landing, rolling, vaults skills. I will not post any vid just to protect the wanna be traceurs ;) But If you are that skilled, search for those flips: gainer, cheat gainer. Those flips are two of most spectacular flips in the world :D (At least for me) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warning: Parkour is a dangerous "sport" Even the most experienced tracuers are getting injured. You have to know your abilites! You can't reach 10 from 0. You need years of hard training to become a proffesional. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [suggestion]Movies to see: District 13 (1 + 2) : leading actor is David Belle (the parkour creator). Yamakasi (1 + 2) : A parkour team with excellent skills ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PS: It would be better if you start training in a gym! and then outside. I hope that you liked my guide :D Credits: Seasoned source: wisegeek.com/parkour.gr/parkour-online.com/wikipedia Cya and thnx for reading :) Quote
