All I can see is some texts with an outter glow/stroke, a render on a black bg and fire.

From my pov, a "skilled" gfxer doesn't create bad signatures due to lack of time, if he has lack of time he makes it simple, but making it ugly seems weird. I guess all ppl is different but... strange story :P

Tottaly agree :D Anyway, if he says he's skilled, maybe he really is. We can just wait and see his work. As I said, keep up.. (My previous comment was nothing more than a feedback though.)
