Cassiopeia - Afraid Of Snakes

'Sup dudes?Ye, you've read pretty well the topic title.This is gonna be a tutorial about an annoying snake which is called Cassiopeia.Why do I call her annoying.Cause she's got some really badass skills and damage dealings aswell.I won't do any list containing her advantages or disadvantes just because if she's played well, apart from the low Health Points, she's got no disadvantage in my opinion.Anyways, no more chit chat.Lets get started.

 

Oh, mark the following words.This is MY tutorial.This is NOT a must follow guide.By creating this topic I'll try providing some tips and infos that will help you through your games and increase your chanses to win.

 

Cassiopeia is an amazing burst damage and spamming champion aswell.First of all ALWAYS go mid.If there's a dumb guy refusing to lane, then have it as his willing and replace him in the lane.At mid, you'll have the chanse to have a GREAT farming and your spamming with your posion abilities will make your enemy go crazy.On the other hand, laning Cassopeia MUST play from the inside of the bushes.Her first ability (Q - Noxious Blast) can be casted from the inside of the bushes but won't reveal your position.So, enemies will get somehow poisoned but they won't have a clue where that poison comes from in order to attack you.

 

Lets get started with the level 18 statistics.

 

 

Not much of a HP only if you build Rylai's Crystal Scepter, but we'll talk later about that.

 

Skills specifications:

 

Passive: Deadly Cadence.

 

(Innate): After casting a spell, any subsequent spellcasts will cost 10% less for 5 seconds. This ability stacks up to 5 times

 

Dunno what to say about her passive.It's the dream of every spammy caster in League Of Legends.Allows you to spam your abilities and not have to worry about mana consumption/regeneration.You'll find out that this specific passive is WAY too usefull at mid-late game.In combination with the bluebuff, your MP will rarely reach bellow 50%.

 

Q: Noxious Blast

 

Cassiopeia blasts an area with a delayed high damaging poison, dealing magic damage over 3 seconds and granting her movement speed for 2 seconds if she hits a champion.

 

Cooldown: 3 seconds

Cost: 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 Mana

Magic Damage: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+0.9 per Ability Power)

Movement Speed: 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 22.5 / 25 %

 

Noxious Blast is an excellent spamming ability.Not such high damage during early game and neither it's an instant spell.It works exaclty like Karthus' Lay Waste.It's not an easy-to-use spell but here's a tip to master it.If you've got not enough experience to guess the enemie's movement points, then just try going straight to them and putting it behind them.Their first reaction after seeing you initiating will be a retreat, so they'll step right on your Noxious Blast.Also, hitting an enemy gives you bonus movement speed for 2 seconds.This will be really usefull after you've built Rylai's Crystal Scepter.I'll explain later why.

 

W: Miasma

 

Cassiopeia releases a growing cloud of poison that lasts for 7 seconds. Any enemy that passes through it is poisoned for 2 seconds, dealing magic damage each second and slowing them. Continual exposure renews this poison.

Cooldown: 9 seconds

Cost: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 Mana

Magic Damage: 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 (+0.15 per Ability Power)

Slow: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 %

 

There are a few great advantages on this ability.The first of all them is its farming advantage.Miasma poisons multiple enemies standing on it.So, if you use it like I do, then your farming will be great.What do I mean?Cast this spell to caster minions which stand still.This will give the upper hand to your minions aswell and you'll always have the upper hand on the lane aswell.Slow is an advantage aswell.It can be used in multiple ways.You can either use it as an option to slow an enemy who's hunting you/your teammates or just use it while you're taking down a turret and you want to slow down the minions.Just drop it on their path.Moreover, after building Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Miasma will give you the ability to slow the entire team into teamfights.

 

E: Twin Fang

 

Cassiopeia deals magic damage to her target. If the target is poisoned then Twin Fang's cooldown is reduced to .5 seconds.

 

Cooldown: 5 seconds

Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 Mana

Magic Damage: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+0.45 per Ability Power)

 

I love this ability.I simply do.Huge damage dealing, instant CD provided that your enemy is poisoned.There's only one way using this ability and that's by combining it with Noxious Blast.You'll have to master the skills order to get instant and successfull kills, though.Try poisoning the enemy with Noxious Blast.Then, instantly use Twin Fang do deal some great damage.You can do this the whole time since your Noxious Blast's CD is 3 seconds but don't forget that in order to spam wtih Twin Fang your enemy must be poisoned.Otherwise the spell's CD won't be reduced.Given the fact that your enemy is poisoned, you'll have the chanse to use Twin Fang up to 3 times on him if you're fast enough but avoid being stunned.Stay away from enemies who can stun you.

 

R: Petrifying Gaze

 

Cassiopeia deals magic damage to all enemies in front of her. Enemies facing her are stunned for 2 seconds while enemies facing away are slowed.

 

Cooldown: 120 seconds

Cost: 120 / 160 / 200 Mana

Magic Damage: 150 / 275 / 400 (+0.6 per Ability Power)

Slow: 40 / 50 / 60 %

Stun: 2 Seconds

 

One of the hardest but at the same deadly ultimates ingame.But mostly the hardest.It requires you to get extremely close to your enemy in order to cast it and puts you in great danger.But in even bigger danger if you want to stun multiple targets.Most decent and complete fighters in League Of Legends know how this skill works so they will avoid staring at you while you're about to spell your ultimate.They'll just turn around, get slown instead of stunned and then kill you.There's 2 ways to successfully use Petrifying Gaze.

 

Into 1v1 situations: Don't reveal your intention to the enemy that you're about to use your ulti.Just spam around your skills until you make him to come to you.Then, don't use your ultimate immediately.Wait until he has used 1 or 2 of his abilities.You'll give him the idea that your ulti is under CD and you can't spell it.Then, he will keep attacking you without turning his back around.That's the time.Use it and give some pain!!

 

In Team Fights: Well, casting successfully Petrifying Gaze is a bit tough into teamfights but there are 2 ways aswell.The first one is pretty simple.You flash in they position they're staring at and use it immediatelly.Note down, though, that this way (if not succeeded) can be also named as "SUICIDE!!!".

But there's another way you can use it.And that's when your team retreats from a fight.While the enemy team is hunting you down, turn around immediatelly and cast your ulti.It will work somehow like Amumu's ultimate and will give your team the opportunity to turn around the fight.

 

Masteries Selection:

 

 

Those are the masteries I'm using. 9-0-21.You'll be wondering why am I using the 3rd list of masteries which are mainly regeneration masters, while my passive gives me MP advantage.Well, I WANT MORE!In combination with my runes, which give me ability strenght, MP regeneration masteries will keep me a lot longer into my lane.A LOT LONGER.Also, cooldowning abilities is a MUST on Cassiopeia since her ultimate takes a lot of time to regenerate.

 

Summoner Spells:

 

: Ignite goes hand in hand with Cassiopeia's DoT spells. After poisoning your target and spamming E, throw Ingite on them to insure the kill. It gives her a little boost to her DoT capabilities.

 

: When you find your self trapped, find a wall to flash through as a quick and effective escape strategy. You can also use Flash to set up your ult. Flash infront of fleeing enemies and ult them to cut off their escape as I mentioned before into the 1v1 fight.

 

Those are the 2 MUST spells for Cassiopeia.And those are the ones I'm using.But here's a couple of suggestions from Furber (MobaFire member) for some more spells.

 

: Ghost can be used as an alternative to Flash. The speed upgrade will help Cassiopeia retreat quickly from a dangerous situation. You can also chase people well with it. I personally prefer Flash, but if Ghost is your favorite, feel free to use it instead.

 

: Exhaust can be used to slow an enemy that is chasing you or that you are chasing. It also blinds the target, so this is a good ability to use if an autoattacker targets you.

 

: Deadly Cadence should take care of your mana problems. However, if you find the need for extra mana while laning, use Clarity to keep up your mana.

 

Runes Selection:

 

 

Greater Quintessence of Clarity.Gives me MP regeneration.Don't ask me why.I told you before, I WANT MORE!!!!

 

Greater Quintessence of Potecy.Buy 2 of those.Ability at early gaming with Cassiopia is a great advantage.

 

Greater Seal of Potecy.Ability!!!I want ability.Who doesn't!!Buy 9 of those and you'll be fine!

 

Greater Mark of Insight. Magic penetration is needed aswell for me.Might seem useless to some people, but gives me the advantage on enemies with high magic ressistance levels. Buy 9 of them aswell.

 

Greater Glyph of Potency. In my honest opinion, it's a MUST rune tier for me.In most of the games, middle has AP carriers.So, why not buy some m.ressist and go against those carriers?Buy 9 of them aswell.

 

Items Building:

 

I start off by using a Doran's Ring. Its Ability Power, MP Regeneration and HP are pretty usefull in combination with my runes.Although some people might, wrongly, preffer to buy an Amplifying Tome to go wild with their damage.But guess what.Your HP won't be higher than 500 and you'll die in a matter of seconds.

Stay at your lane until you've reached 1100 gold.If you're in a good health and MP condition, don't go back.Just keep farming.Be carefull though.Their jungler might have farmed aswell and bought some items before you do.So, ALWAYS stay behind the half of mid lane if there's an enemy champion missing from the map.Cassiopeia can hardly escape ganks.

When you'll be back to base, buy some boots.Specifically: Sorcerer's Shoes.These shoes will replace the need for more Ability Power and do some outstanding damage in early game.

 

After those 2 buildings there's a lot of items you could build.Although, a MUST HAVE item for Cassiopeia is Rylai's Crystal Scepter.So, what's that fass all about for that Item?Rylai's apart from giving you a great amount of health points, it also has an amazing passive ability.Slows the enemy target by 35% for 2 seconds.This passive, in combo with Noxious Blast which gives you movement speed, will grant you a sure kill since your enemy won't be able to run away from you.All he'll have to do is face you.When he does that, just ultimate him, freeze him and you're done, +1 kill!

 

Next comes Archangel's Staff.Apart from the ability it provides, it has 2 pretty usefull passives aswell.

Passive: You gain ability power equal to 3% of your maximum mana. +400 mana, +25 mana regeneration.

Unique Passive: On cast, you gain +4 maximum mana (maximum +1000 maximum mana). 3 second cooldown.

What else could you possibly need into Cassiopeia?!?!

 

Follows up Rod Of Ages. Health, Ability and Mana.A great item for cassiopeia.Not much to comment on!

 

After you've built those 4 items, you can either sell your Doran's Ring and clear out an item slot, or just keep it and build one item at a time.Here are some suggestions about your last 2 items.

 

Rabadon's Deathcap: +140 ability power. Unique Passive: +30% ability power . An amazing AP item, but I would reccomend that ONLY in late game if you want to dominate over your enemies.

Void Staff: +70 ability power. Unique Passive: +40% magic penetration. A MUST HAVE Item in my opinion of the enemy team is building some heavy magic ressist stats.Magic penetration will be the solution of the problem!

  Zhonya's Hourglass: +100 ability power, +50 armor. Unique Active: For 2 seconds, you are invulnerable and untargetable but cannot take any actions. 90 second cooldown. One of the greatest passives in-game for squishy players like Cassiopeia.If you don't want to get blown away in the first seconds of a team fight, use this item.Its passive will put you in a state of invulnerability and your enemies will simply get paniced while the rest of your team will cleaning them out.

 

Genneral Tips:

 

- Never...EVER don't initiate into teamfights.There's a tank to do so.If not, just try walking into the fight with the rest of the team, causing some panic with your Noxious Blast and Miasma.As soon as the fight has started, try getting into position for your ulti.

- Stay always behind the team.Cassiopeia, although she's considered a bit of a useless champ at the moment by the LoL community, she's one of a hell great AP carrier.So, when the enemy team discovers how powerfull you can prove to be, they'll do EVERYTHING to focus on you.So, you have to avoid that.

- Use Elixirs Of Brilliance.Always do that.Even from minute 10.I always use one so I can have the upper hand on fights.Although it could be considered an expensive item for early game, it grants a lot of usefull ability.

- Try not being still against enemies at mid (early game).Don't give the chanse to champions like Brand, Veigar, Anivia, Morgana etc to catch you.You should catch them ;)

 

So folks, that was it.Try following everything into this tutorial and you'll achieve some great scores and games with Cassiopeia.

not worthy buing rod of ages if not build catalyst of protector early

 

at mid- high elos (1500+) cassiopeia is banned many times ^^ , she is consider as a useless champ in lower elos ^^

Nop.Q and W especially provide you more laning duration = more farming.

The maximum someone should get Twin Fang at is lvl 3 until minute 15.Not more.

i wouldnt buy Zhonya's Hourglass.Maybe i d get a deathfire grasp(for heavy hp) or morello or Abyssal scepter.

 

imo ZH is for ap aoe champs like Kennen,Fiddlesticks,Karthus who really need to lose target on them.your ulti can work like a charm in order to break the focus on you.

I've been playing her for a while now, making her my main potencial mage. Playing as mid i start with Q, than on next level W, than E, after that i max out Q, than E, and finally W, i use W to slow targets and to reveal bushes and to creep ofcourse. If you make a Rod of Ages as rush item that will guarantee you an easy win, i prefer building her Rylai's Scepter after it, than i'll start building Void staff and last bot not least Rabadon's Deathcap, Sorcerer's shoes is your first or second item to build, and i end up with Frozen Heart, pretty much that's how i play her, and it's pretty successful i'd say.

Those are the runes I currently have and NO, piss off, I'm too poor to buy new runes, I can't afford them xDDD

 

Speed seems a bit useless to me.She's got not much of HP.Doran's give me (apart from AP/HP/MP regen) the chanse to keep my lane for a longer time and farm as much as I can.But that's just me ^^

 

You build Deathcap way too late...

 

Nah, I build Deathcap somewhere at the end aswell.Cassio does tons of damage with her E spell so AP isn't needed imo as much magic penetration/MP regen and ofc SLOW!
