  1. The most common problem for missing skills (at least for me) is that you might have given a wrong number of values on skill Tables. Its the most common because its easy to miss. Other than that simply check the xml for possible errors on the spcific skill. The problem i had the other day was in fact because of wrong table values and i fixed it, however an older one still pops up from time to time. It is pointless to discuss it for now until i find the time to check it a bit further. I think it is some skills used from new level 80 mobs in freya though.
  2. I just logged in and reached up to level 14 which is as much as i can see my self getting... After playing for 15 minutes i have a few objective and subjective remarks that i believe you might want to consider. Objective: 1)The server is a bit buggy. I died from orcs at level 14 because i could not move and it was the second time i got stuck apparently as a punishment for using power shot? Dunno. 2)Mobs as i see have new skills which is fine if only they didnt all have the same and if there was a way to know what skills they have. Otherwise it doesnt exactly make gameplay more strategic or demanding it just makes it ...custom. 3)I found that mobs tended to stay idle even after attacking them for about 1-2 seconds. I suppose this is due to lag or them trying to figure out what skill to use. Subjective: 1)The levels from 1-40 just like in original Lineage seem to have no point at all. You could simply have players start at level 40 where they can choose their class and get their skills. Don't get me wrong, i would never do that on my server but if you are to have these levels exist you must change all skills and quests up to that level so that it is actually a bit interesting. 2)Do something about the movement speed. Default speed of lineage is like moving backwards in time. 3)Obviously since i only played so little i didn't actually see any of your important custom features in action. My only problem however is that they are not features that i would feel interested about in order to keep me going through the endless boring grind that is L2 at least at the first 50 levels or so. If you are going to make a custom server, do it all the way.
  3. For some reason when i start or reload the server i get multiple "Missing Skill info for skill id "bla bla" and level "bla"". This doesnt always happen and it doesnt seem to affect anything obvious. The server starts normally. I checked the skills stated in the error and there is nothing wrong with them in terms of structure or their tables. But it bugs me out that this is happening and im sure it must be causing some problems even though they are not obvious. Any idea what this is? The chronicle is freya. I have no idea how old the revision is though.
  4. If they wont be in game what do they present? Will they be there by choice of the player...like an extra patch? (No i had not read the text below pictures i am sorry)
  5. 1st of all my fellow homo sapiens, having brain has nothing to do with knowing about client modding. Secondly i am actually aware of the fact that you can do what you stated, as it is indeed a very simple process even for noob cheaters. Third and most important, my disappointment over the existence of "star wars glows" did not only revolve around the visually vomit-worth results that we have seen in almost any stupid pr.server; it mainly focused on the fact that i can't trust a server that would even bother to meddle with such trivial and low quality affairs. I am not in any way condemning this server to be worthless but i'm just stating that i really hate such changes since they visually suck. It feels like the blacklight on a car. It is reserved for low life humanoids. Next time keep your anger away from my comments. Grow the fuck up.
  6. Up until i saw the star wars glows i was actually a bit interested in this project. Now you lost me.
  7. 1 very important thing. Make sure to not use the english language wrong. There "are" 3 types of Dungeon's (Commenting on the npc text). Its not bad if you make spelling and grammar mistakes in the forum but those are unacceptable in a game. (Which makes it extra funny that even retail L2 has them....a lot of them)
  8. God damn Avast firewall blocking login.... Thanks tryskel you're the man. Problem Solved.
  9. Thanks triskel it was indeed as simple as that. Now there is something i can't understand though...i've done everything right. Both login and game server communicate OK, but my client is stuck at login screen saying its trying to connect and oing nothing. As i understand thats a problem with login server but i cant understand what i 've done wrong..any help with that?
  10. For some reason eclipse fails when i try to compile server. I get this error: C:\Users\Kiki\workspace\L2J_Server\build.xml:209: Ant 1.8.2 is required. But your version is Apache Ant version 1.7.1 compiled on June 27 2008 and if you are using Eclipse probably is outdated. Any idea what this is? Never had this before, but it's been a long time since i tried to set up a server so it could be anything... Im preety sure im doing something wrong to begin with and that this is not the actual problem. Actually i could use some help in general as to what URL i should use at the SVNRepository for a High Five server.
  11. It is important if this happens only against players cause this will create several problems. In fact the most important one is that there is usually less than 1% chance that a mob will actually win a battle against a player. Taking that into consideration there is a very high chance that all your work will end up having no point so this is something you should address. Also if a mob kill another mob how exactly does it get stronger? is there a point to that? will it be more rewarding or just flat out harder for no reason? if all mobs are different will there be room for strategy or will it end up in players relying on pure strength to defeat mobs etc etc. Im not trying to spoil it for you, im trying to adress isues that might pose a problem to the design.
  12. So if i understand correctly mobs get stronger if they win a fight? Against a player or another mob?
  13. I must say im impressed by the work you seem to have done. I would be interested to see how you managed in action. I am however dissapointed that even after so many changes and difficult programming feats, you did not change anything about the skills and quests of the game (correct me if im wrong) For Lineage2 to function as an actual game there has to be a complete reworking of the skills, mob skills, quests, global events, item stats, balance, raids. Without any of those things i would not care to play for more than 10 minutes. It seems seriously weird how other people can.
  14. Yeap i found it... it seems if you look carefully its easy to find. Vampir was right although i just saw that...thought you had refered me to questname-e.dat as well ... :S But, indeed correct, it isn't in the questname-e.dat but in the npcgrp.dat! Since i found it, i think it would be good to share how it works. This is for Freya Chronicle. In the npcgrp.dat you will find all the npcs, their Ids, sounds, meshes etc etc. After the sounds you will find the "quest_be" column where the quest markers are dealt. I will present an example but not the entire npc line cause it's huge: We will look at Sir Collin Windawood who you MUST know if you've played L2 even a little bit. Sir Collin takes part in 3 different quests: Step into the Future, Find Sir Windawood, Trial of Duty Here is the part of this npc's data we care about: ChrSound.MNpc_Fighter_Dmg_3<--this is where sound data ends--> 0 3 6 155 212 <-----after a while of blank line-----> 3 3 4294967295 17 Ok lets break it down: The first 0 i have no idea what it is but it doesnt concern us. The number 3 afterwards is to say how many quests this npc is involved in. The next three numbers are the quest Ids found in the questname-e.dat if you search the quest by name. After a while of blank space which is left there in case the npc is involved in a gazillion different quests, you will find the next part we are interested in. The number 3 here is once again how many quests this npc is involved in and the info about them. The next three numbers are the STAGES of the respective quests at which the quest marker will appear. Keep in mind that for some reason you have to enter the previous stage rather than the actuall one! Again: 3 6 155 212 <-----after a while of blank space-----> 3 3 4294967295 17 So in this case sir windawood: takes part in 3 quests The first quest's Id is "6" The second quest's Id is "155" and the third's Id is "212" now the quest marker will appear over his head: for the first quest: at the 2nd stage (3-1=2) for the second quest: at the 1st stage (yes the number 4294967295 is effectively the 0 || 1-1=4294967295) for the third quest: at the 16th stage (17-1=16) ok im done...fiouf! Hope this makes some sense and it may help someone.... Oh i forgot to mention everything else is done in the questname-e.dat. For example if the quest marker is blue or red etc etc..
  15. I have worked with questname-e.dat extensively since i have changed several things on more than 50 quests and still going. Unfortunately i haven't worked on them recently though, so i don't remember exactly how they work. What i have changed is quest descriptions, names, tooltips, radar displays, item requirements so on so on. The only thing that eludes me is the damn quest markers for some reason.... I will check it again right now to see if maybe i stupidly missed something obvious. If there is any more info pls do share and thanx for the quick feedback :)
  16. Shit! Should move this to DevHelp...i posted blindly where i thought it was...
  17. Awesome! The only thing i would suggest i guess is to add a way to pick colors with pictures of colors and not by 00FF and so on.. It would help a lot of people since they are not familiar with those codes.
  18. Hello again. As the title suggests i would like to ask if anyone knows where in the server (or client?) can i meddle with quest markers? What i mean exactly is this: If an npc has an available quest to give, then a marker appears over their head. Red for one time and blue for repeatable quests etc etc. I have searched a bit to find where the option to add a marker like that is, but i couldn't find it. Since i spend a lot of time working on skill ideas and class balance (and a gazillion other things for that matter) and since there has been a great deal of work from college recently i would really appreciate it if someone could share their knowledge on that matter... I don't know if that is a client (most probably) or server side question, so please feel free to move this post wherever it belongs. Thanx in advance for your time.
  19. As the title suggests i would really like to check any Highly customized server out there. Chronicle doesnt matter. When i say customized i mean serious job. Changing a bunch of items and adding some terrible star wars new ones is not serious customization. As far from retail as possible. Would rather avoid high rate pvp servers, they almost always suck big time.
  20. A-FREAKING-MAZING ones again from Avenger Team. However the running cycle is so bad i wouldn't use it in my server. (almost every l2 mount has a bad animation though)
  21. Guys you really should start re uploading photos. Half of the post i see have broken photo links.
