This method works, except you may be one of those unlucky people that have a specific DRM component (hal32.dll) pre-installed on their OS. Once you: 1. Disable automatic windows update (and only use install stuff by manually picking what you need) 2. Delete the file (delete all of them by doing a full search on your primary hdd) 3. Restart your computer 4. Open up the OP's specified link 5. Re-submit an encrypted RAR file You will be able to recover all it's contents without knowing the password.

As explained in the news article, it is not known if L3 is even considered for development. Naturally, those pictures do not come from nonexistent L3, because there is no information about L3 whatsoever.

Project L2Jpes Interlude Project
Zeeyo replied to Pauler's topic in Server Development Discussion [L2J]
I am glad all your dumb-beep- replies got removed. A breeze of fresh air could be felt in the forums when your ego was cut to size. BUT OF COURSE, WE SHOULD GO back to topic: There are plenty of better event engines, why did you use this one? Most stuff in TvTEvent at least is notably below optimal: bad pick of data structures, illogical control flow, etc etc..? -
If every server is crap, what then?
Zeeyo replied to l2temper's topic in General Discussion [English]
It is the classical chicken-and-egg problem: Each player only plays on a server if there are other players playing on that server. To get a single player, you must have a large number of players already playing on your server. Truthfully, some players do hang around the servers they choose to play on. But you can only play a deserted MMO for so long... As I said – it is best to have some loyal players from various parts of the world hanging around your server (even if doing nothing except responding to new player chat messages) at the start. Otherwise it does not matter what type of server you have – normal gameplay, high rate, NubakasGR (unlimited buff slots; each buff gets its own, so OL, WC and Proph buffs do not replace each other) or fully customized; even if you coded your server to have pure solo gameplay to help maintain those first players. L2 is an old game. The fact that you need a SSD to play it (as is constantly reminded by the NA community) really gets in the way. Not to mention with GG L2 is really, really shitty. Without GG *surprise* you can actually play it with a HDD and even 5++box without any issues. No SSD = No wars though. -

The '.online' syndrome. If at any point of time the server population falls below 50, then players will leave and never return. So while on launch you have at least 100+, after first nightfall you might have 0. And with 0, you cannot attract any new players. All you can do is make up a new name, buy a new domain and try to attract more people on launch; or make launch time at ~21:00-22:00 UTC: the perfect time for EU West & NA East/West. That allows you to artificially prolong the 'launch playerbase' stage of your server. Of course, after a few nightfalls you might have to deal with issues like only having ~20-30 players during the day and 0 at night. But if you manage to survive and never fall into teens (19-) or below (9-), you can congratulate yourself on having established a server. Anyway, if those 'good devs' would have been smart like me and made themselves known, they could simply announce the 99th reincarnation of their server and be swarmed by hordes of players like every time. -

Just look at DotA with their hard counter system... Plenty of crybabies creating topics such as "Amg tuk Skywrath Mage ind git rekked bai Antimage!!!11@@@ AM OP PLZ BAN ALL antimage players AND NERF AM!!!2221" BTW: Your avatar is offensive. Will have to report this. -

I actually remember the days when IL/HB/GF servers with publicly (on MxC) known exploits were roughly 4-5 times more popular than latest chronicle (GF or GE at that time, I guess) that did not have any widely known exploits. At that time I understood that some exploits are absolutely necessary to get a server going. Once you are forever alone known, you can just remove those exploits, then later close the server and announce that you are going to open a 'latest chronicle 100% done' server in a year and then live off donations even without providing a server for people to play on. The fun thing is, you can then repeat the same shit after that year passes by simply taking a l2jserver HEAD, adding some exploits, compiling, running a server using your forever known name, get hundreds of players constantly on for a several months and do the same shit again. That's how I make a living. P.S. No, you cannot make your server forever known nowadays, not enough people actually care about L2 to spread word. You must pay people to play on your server just to make sure not every single new player leaves. -
Hello folks, apparently there is some sort of reorganization going on behind the scenes in l2jserver/dp's team. :o It seems that they might be changing hosting providers to free hosting and that the inactive older team members are actually thinking to leave the project completely (thread). Any thoughts?

Well, you haven't ever played on official servers. HF right before transition to GoD was broken. Even Oly was fucking broken. And you definitely haven't played since F2P.

L2 Who? HoW sounds gay. So F*ck off! P.S. You could use LA2 FU as a name. It almost rhymes :P [eL two F*ck yoU]

I was reading l2jserver's forums the other day and found this. L2jserver doesn't want to make god support, but I managed to login to l2jserver's HF beta with GD client (and play) after changing/adding some packets! Ofc you have to do some rework to enable skill learn anywhere, but is ok!

Glad to hear that someone finally did this. Kudos to you guys :)! And sad to hear that it's already abandoned* :-\. * - from my experience, even temporary abandonment is a bad sign. Usually a competing fork does a full implementation, then takes (even if retaining credits) everything you were working on in the meantime.

Strange change of mind? You have made a strategic change of direction, or we are simply misunderstanding each other this whole time. I know C1-C3 very, very, well. I have spent so much time playing during these chronicles (yeah... I still had time back then). However, even though I had used C1+ emulators (l2jserver), I haven't done anything much with them until C4-C5. Look at what we both know: a) spawn system hasn't changed*** b) spawns have changed so many times... some areas were cleared, for example in C2 Giran -> Heine path, Silenos & those skele archers/raiders (marauder & raider if memory serves right). Recently many 3x-4x areas were converted to 76+ areas. However, both of these fall into 'spawns' category, so it is correct to say spawns have changed since C1. And then again: a) Aggro system hasn't changed b) L2JFree had a skill (buff/heal/other support) aggro system, but some values (mostly new skills) were missing, and some were outdated, as they were based either on Prelude->C1 transition's or C4 leaked files. So kinda implemented, but not 4real ;) Also, l2j had these values in DP as well, but I don't know if they were handled or not (as you say). P. S. Ok, perhaps I may be wrong about Horus, but Horus wrote that news item that is in the first post. *** - The devil's in the details. C1's spawn system was unable to handle floating (flying as they are called now) monsters, so it has definitely changed.

Just a second. I've told you it's best to close this topic. However, I still believe it's fair to reply to Tryskell's post as it is related to l2j and l2jfree (more or less directly). See my previous post, I told you I ignored the replies. No need to re-state the obvious. I believe Horus was the author of this thread. That lame whining - I'd recognize that anywhere. No offense to him, you and/or others. I believe we all agree that patch notes were: 1. Incomplete (undoubtedly) 2. Outdated(? used to be). Even L2JServer had proof of that for each chronicle, where patch notes were simply wrong. Ah yes, the spawn system. Yeah, even though mob spawns were changed, changed and changed and changed again, the system did not change. It spawns X out of Y mobs per zone(region or how that's named) and rotates these spawns as mobs get killed. As far as I remember, there have been proposals to implement it, but no one did even an alpha implementation. And buff/heal/etc aggro, yep, it never worked completely, usually because of the new and new and new skills in new chronicles. But some skill aggro values did change since C1. Nicely played? I was just stating something that's quite obvious. That's also one of the reasons many people talk how it would be nice to [re]start playing l2 but never actually do.
-
Sounds like you never played C1, otherwise you would understand there's nothing left from C1 since years ago. Except maybe for hideouts. Yep, hideouts almost haven't changed. Oh, and ferries, except for the fact they ain't used nowadays. Game mechanics (PvE, PvP, quests, sieges, every single skill, even movement) has fucking changed since C1 and you complain about missing C1 features? Nicely played, sir. I can redirect your complaint straight to aCis & L2Jserver & L2JTW & other packs and it will be valid.

What a hate fest we have here. Being an ignorant bastard that I am, here are my suggestions based on the fact that I ignored >50% replies to this thread: Close this topic (too many off-topic/hate/penis-comparing replies) Ban everyone who posted off-topic Ban L2JFree impersonators Ban L2JServer/DP impersonators And to avoid being banned for ignorance, here's my on-topic reply: To many people (those who whine are mere arrogant bastards indeed) l2jserver is a typical large/old project. Anything you suggest (and give a patch) is ignored (in the sense of not commited, revised for commit, whatever else) and then one of two things happen: a) two weeks later, a WHOLE commit "from private svn" is done, and thanks to "the inner circle" your suggestion is implemented, perhaps with a few misses. Once that happens 3 times in a row, you quit this crap and start leeching, because "the inner circle" "forgets" to tell users & possible contributors that something is in progress before a complete commit is already done. b) your proposed patch, regardless of how simple it was and how undeniably it fixed/corrected/improved something is ignored and dies (among other threads). Now, this would be the perfect opportunity to fork it if not: 1. So much work to redo it 2. Views on how things should be done will be inherited anyway 3. Doing a simple refactoring wont give you any credit 4. So many failed forks that only forked for penis-comparisons P. S. It is strange how sensitive l2jserver supporters are and how arrogant l2jfree supporters are. Strange that after checking l2jserver/dp's forums, these guys don't look too sensitive - they look SENSIBLE. Also, in l2jfree's not-so-active forum, you can't find a thread where l2jserver is claimed to be the worst of the worst, nor any hyperactive bashing of any forks. P. P. S. Ban the impersonators ffs...

@xuinia: Posting spam is not tolerated in these forums. On topic: I have heard that, at least in earlier xampp versions, the MySQL is configured either in aggressive mode, which may cause CPU spikes whenever MySQL service is not idle, or in regressive mode, which provides really, really low performance, which is generally unacceptable in l2j. Care to elaborate? @an0s: If MySQL did not work, xampp will not work as well. Only if you knowingly messed up MySQL installation, only then xampp will work.

Depending on stupidity is a very very bad programming practice. Okay, so you use public key to encrypt client -> server and server -> client packets. Yet if you want (and yes, you have no choice) to decrypt received packets, the client/launcher still has to have the private key. That means anyone can stumble upon it and start injecting packets and doing other bs on your server. Also, if you are thinking that assembly programmers are rare nowadays: think again. -

1. I assume CIS stands for Comodo Internet Security, so if it's not, ignore my post. Wrong, have you at least looked into config? Of course it can't... Are you expecting every internet security suite to be able to block "MyOwnCustom0dayClientEmulatingFloodApplication"? And yes, that makes me aggree with your post that this thread is a failed attempt. -
You are basing that on one screenshot?.. Most people would say you are just post-hunting. Anyway, we will see when he adds the download link. Hopefully it will be able to kill the gameserver fast, since login killing is ineffective nowadays: they just restart instantly and your work gives no results.
-
The link is broken. Already. Nevermind, I used a direct downloader and it took care. P.S. Is this for Interlude? It has no effect whatsoever on l2jfree login nor gameserver, both when applied on the same or a remote server.

Obviously you need to delete all compiled classes and recompile the core (NOT mmocore, the server core).
