Hi guys, My computer was infected with a nasty virus last night. It forced me to do a full reboot of the system using a fresh copy of windows and this set back my work a great deal. The open beta will still proceed as scheduled I managed to pull an all-nighter and bring my comp back to where it was. Luckily I bakced up everything earlier that week :) Okay! So open beta is tomorrow. We're looking to make a nice bang, nothing too fancy but be sure to tell your friends and brings a group, however many you can ;) Because beta is a super fun time! Okay boys! The best server in the universe is now in beta mode. Our doors open at 20:00 GMT+1 and the beta timer is on our homepage if you're not familiar with how the GMT system operates. I've led many CPS in the past and I know how some of you guys are not aware of Daylight Savings Time. Yea this is what I mean it's difficult to balance. I was thinking the OLY2 sounds better. But you bring up some good points, the first, is that new players will have no chance. The second is that certain classes will dominate way too hard and prevent your progress. Emerald style is probably the best option where everyone starts off with equal footing and u can choose the class u like and gear u like without limitation. I was thinking more like 24 hours Olympiad only Olympiad with no restrictions or match limits. I'd need to think of a viable donation system to make this work, however. Can you explain the emerald server in a bit more detail. Be as specific as possible. For example, currency from oly, what can u buy with this currency? And PVP currency is separate? PVPS allow you to buy talis, accessories, cloaks, etc? Do these cloaks and shit have good stats to give your char a boost? Details please. Cheers, Granny

L2 is an old game. There's really nothing fresh to do or new players to bring. You either make a full custom server which dies in a month because of imbalance or boredom, or you stick to the retail style and keep the game how it was (mostly). I don't think your advice is sound. Perhaps advice more suited is to get your shit together before you launch. Have an advertising campaign that is strong and worthy of the work you put in. Because players are lazy and spoiled, so it's a lot like trying to convince a kid to choose your toy and then figure out how to keep him playing with it for more than a day :D Cheers, Granny

I love Olympiad, it's why I play L2 usually. I'm considering a side-project OLY server for the EU community. But I'd need to get a good impression of whether such a server would survive or how to structure the donation system. I've never played a strictly OLY server before. It wouldn't be a major project. Something to work on in between our larger projects. Cheers, Granny
