Just for your begin level.. I think you should concetrate in Flow, Blending, and how to make a backround with brush tool, or with fractals and any kind of image. How to put images how to resize them and etc. Start with these..

Honestly mate I should tell you some things here: 1) The render is placed wrong & not fit with the whole backround 2) Try to blend the render its too red 3) Pretty Nice backround but that's not your target.. I think so.. 4) Next time, try to make something with the same colors... I mean if you have red render you must design a red backround with red effects and etc... Choose one color not 18 irelevant colors. That's all... Update your work and you will be improved.
