Hello everyone! This is my first post here in maxcheaters and before i begin i would like to thank everyone joined here for all their help in matters of l2 modification.

 

The purpose of this topic is to share my ideas on a rather revolutionary server i 've been working on and see how people react to them.

Although this is my first post and though ive never had any official education in programming ,for the past 2 years ive been working with l2j and client moding and reached

a considerable level of skill in l2 "re"-programming.

 

So ..lets begin:

 

SERVER PURPOSE:

 

The purpose of this server is to keep all the fun elements of lineage2 as well as take advantage of it's beautiful graphics, while however completely altering the gameplay experience

from its crappy and misserable condition to something..fun!

Imagine a Lineage2 server without endless/mindless farming, no more spam casting, no more buff hunting, no more need for dual boxing, no horrifying unbalances, no more useless quests, no more lifesucking economy or xp rates, no more usless items, no more usless skills, no more NCSoft lazy stupid facked up ideas that wreck the game instead of fixing it,

no more 2 seconds pvp...

Imagine a server with hundreds of new skills that are not ment to vaguely impress but to offer a gameplay that requires thinking and strategy. A server where character build is not just a choice of class. Where your character wont need a gazillion buffs to actually be able to survive. Where you wont need resting every 50 seconds. Where all quests offer great rewards and they no longer ask for insanely stupid things...Where your character no longer runs like a freaking turtle. Where the xp rate increases as levels progress allowing you to enjoy the upbringing of your character while not sucking the life out of you. AND NO FACKING CP POTS.

 

I know what your gonna say (or not :P): "Oh , this would be heaven Petosaur! But there is no way to do all this..."

I've spent a lot of time thinking of smart solutions on all the above matters and a thousand more. I doubt i remeber every good idea ive thought but im sure they will all come back

again at some point.

 

GENERAL CHANGES:

 

XP:

One of the things that had always been buggin me about l2 is the xp rate. Official servers offer a very slow xp rate, but ofcourse our good old private ones thought of changing that. The problem however is that high rate servers completely kill the starting levels and mid rate may balance it out a bit, but you still end up gaining xp fast at start and slow at the end.

The idea as you may already have thought is to increase the xp rate as levels go up! But not by changing the characters rate...but the xp that mobs give as their levels increase!

Relax i didnt change each mob's database one by one...easily java scripted. Basically server starts at X1 and reaches X80 or somethin. The goal is that you will max out your character's

level at about a month of casual play, and i do mean casual.

 

Stats:

Character stats have had their shares of problems. For starters resting is too slow, speed also (unbuffed) , and for some unknown reason CON is the stat responsible for weight.

Caracters get a lot of dmg from mobs and in most cases you find yourself drinking a potion at all times to keep your life up. ETC ETC ETC...

Well once again the resting thing is easily fixed by increasing Regen of MP and HP while sitting as levels go up.

Speed has been nerfed to a default +50 for all races. Yes this is a lot more that wind walk lvl2 and yet it still seems a bit slow.

For the defense matter ive made a new ability for all classes that preety much solves the problem. Yet again something missing from l2: PARRY (the ability to block attacks with your weapon). The parry mechanism works almost like the shield defense thingy, meaning you have a chance to increase your defense when being hit.

The rate of parry is influanced by your weapon's attack speed and a bonus from DEX. The defense of parry by your weapon's P.Atk and a bonus from STR.

STR is now responsible for weight. Yes mages can no longer get it -10 for dyes.

Higher Accuracy means less chances of having your hit/skill avoided, blocked, parried.

Accuracy and evasion will influance physical skills too not only hits.

INT is now responsible for Critical Spells, and chars will need a special stance to have any CS rate.

QUESTS:

We all know what a pain in the ass l2 quests can be...and yet they offer nothing in return. Its common sense in l2 that you dont do quests unless you have to.

That is a terrible fault and must be changed immediately. L2 happens to have probably the best possible number of quests. I mean i hate not having quests...but i hate having too many too. When i was playing AION i just missed that "lets log in and mindlessly kill some mobs" thing that only l2 offers. However just doin that is even worse...

I have already balanced all quests up to lvl 40 to being less annoying (if they were) and giving seriously good rewards worth their time (they never did).

 

CLASSES:

....

Tanks no longer tank! Knight classes offer % of their defense to party members or protect them with their shield as if it was theirs. They are in a way lesser in defensive capabilities (a little) but they have a greater dmg output without the need of stupid stances.

 

Warrior classes will probably be divided in two. The gladiator type classes (-->gladi, sws ,bd, tyrant) and the warlord type (-->warlord, destro, berseker).

The first type is actually gonna be the one tanking now..the second type will help in various situations according to char build but will mainly armor crush the enemy reducing p.def and

negating all weapon resistances.

 

Archers will rely more on skills than on simply attacking the enemy to fight. They will be expert at distance but will suck at close cause of no parry when using bow. Also bow skills cant be used at close range. They will however be better at fighting with daggers(dual or not) at close range, but will mainly use melee to gain distance or when out of options.

 

Dagger classes will retain their "deathlyness" but all 4(5) of them will fight in different ways. First of all bounty hunters will be something like a blunt using dagger class, being very close to the treasure hunter in play style. Abyss walkers will be the deadliest of all in terms of dps because of their lack of hp, while elves will kill you slower but painfully. Soulbreakers might be the fifth dagger class while all of his attack magic skills will be transfered to the inquisitor which might not be a subclass-only class. Soulbreakers will fight using various marks such as the death mark.

 

Nukers will be nukers, however dont expect spam casting of the same skill. Nukers will have to smartly choose their skills, keep their distance and be very carefull cause neither their casting speed nore their concentration are that high any more. SUrvival abilities will be increased and if the char is used correctly the dmg output can reach insane levels, however, low concentration  can be a pain in the ass.

 

Summoners will have a lot of different summons and new skills for each. They will generally be effective at many things, such as crowd controll ,mass dmg, summoning riding pets for all the party and casting Arcane Disruption at enemies reducing their m.def and negating all elemental resistances. Summoner classes will have unique play styles and a rather cunning strategic usefullness. Almost forgot, the blacksmith will have more than just the small crappy golem as a summon and will basically count as a fighter/summoner. All summoners will have

siege summons such as the siege golem (havent done that yet, i wish it'll work.)

 

Healers will be healers. The healer classes will probably be the bishop the elven elder and the overlord...yes the overlord. Healers will no longer spam battle heals and their healing effectiveness will be reduced unless used corectly. They will indeed have a considerable dmg output using magic dmg skills and yes the overlord will no longer buff the clan...All healer classes might actually be rechargers too but i aint sure yet.

 

Buffers are another matter.. Buffer classes will be the prophet, shilien elder and warcryer. Buffers are now fighter/mages with both magical and physical abilities. All buffers will now

use buffs that heal the ENTIRE party and will also have versions of the same buffs for the entire clan. These party buffs however will have a max of three! So choose your three buffs corectly. There will be some single target buffs too but most wont stuck and the general effectiveness of buffs will be reduced. There will no longer be any need for dual boxing a prophet cause you can do ok without him. Buffers will have a very good dmg out put of all kinds and will also be incredible de-buffers. They will cancel buffs, steal buffs, block buffs and so on. They will also be good at secondary healing when needed. The true purpose of buffing will revela its self in parties with many members where even the slightest effect is muliplied.

 

 

CHARACTER BUILD:

All classes will have a set of skills that they will gain just like the original l2. There are two new aspect of char build though.

 

Skill enchantment will start for several skills at level 40 and more will be enchantable as levels grow. Every class will have 3 skill enchantment paths to take for each skill

and the effects from each path will be unique and very very usefull. You will have to choose one ofcourse but the power and level of skills will always grow regardless of path chosen.

Skill enchantment will not fail,...ever.

 

Runes skills will be available. Remember a little bracelet thingy you get from god knows where and it has some slots where you put shadow item runes??

Well since these runes suck big time i decided i would make some rune skills.

Basically after the 2nd class change you will be given a bracelet with 1 slot and you will have to choose 1 of three rune skills. Later in the game you will get more slots and more runes.

Every class will have about 20 rune skills available for them at 85lvl and will get a max of 6 slots to use them. Every mix is possible.

 

ITEMS:

All Armor sets will be reworked. All SAs will be reworked. Armor grades will be only up to S80. Apella will be S grade set together with Imperial Crusader, Dragonic, Arcana.

There will be about 5 armor sets at S80 if not more and more then 80 different weapons for s80

 

Anger SA will now decrease p.def by 15% and increase p.Atk by a lot.

Light SA will only be available for some two handed weapons and will allow holding the weapon in one hand.

No more SAs that do buffs to party members with 30% chance and staf...

ETC ETC

 

CP pots will now be like healing pots for cp and will indeed have a proper cooldown.

Quick Healing pots will quickly heal...but will again have cool down.

Antidotes and bandages will have cool down.

No more alacrity,haste and all improvements of these available.

Enchants will all be the same, but will not drop from spoil.

 

Werehouses and Blacksmiths will sell books that teach crafting or spoil. You will need the next book for each level and costs will be rather high. (yes craft and spoil available for all)

 

 

SKILLS:

I will not even begin to write about new skills.

Generally...Bleeding/poison (dont know wich yet) dmg is now a %dmg of your regeneration (like negative regeneration)

              DOT skill dmg will be affected by your m.attk and will wake target every time it does dmg.

              Drain skills will hit directly to hp.

              Magic that is not projectile thrown (like fireball) but is curse/drain/etc will ignore any shield defense.

              Blows(now called critical skills) will ignore shield defense.

              Blow success will only be effected by your critical rate unless describing otherwise.

OK at this point i realised ive been writing for 2 and a half hours and im tired. Im sure there are a lot of cool stuf i didnt mention but for now i would like to hear your opinions on

any of the above matter you would like to comment on. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Thanx a lot if you actually managed to read all this :)

this "revolutioner idea" of yours wont keep ppl too long couse boredem will get them faster than joy.

instead of trying to "create" a new game you could try others already made ... Tera / Aion.

i like it as an idea already.

ppl will leave in 10 mins cause they r too (lazy? stupid? "pro"?) to stay but it is something totally different.

just a suggestion: make quests interact with each other and give even better rewards:P

more or less make it like a c3 server in which all ppl are new to l2 and have to search around to see whats going on:)

i wish u can open such a project some time (btw search for some good staff too, u rly will need them)

If boredom does kick in , in 10 mins then i will have to think of a new way to make it more interesting.

But i dont see how boredom can kick in when you start with 3 skills instead of 0 and when there is a perfect tutorial to help you find your way

around the game. High rate server freaks will indeed get bored probably but i dont really care...

 

bluevayero what exactly do you mean by "quests interacting with each other"? If i get it corectly its actually preety hard to do...

 

You wil indeed have to search around to see what's goin on, but you will be guided through quests, niewbe helpers and the tutorial guide will

answer any possible questions you may have.

Υοur features are amazing

You got nice ideas but guess what

 

From what i 've seen,people don't like this kind of servers

 

At least not them,that play Lineage 2

 

Creating a server like this ruins every thing of L2,that L2players are looking for

 

So,you will end up having few players online...and this is bad

i dont see what it is exactly that l2 players are looking for...in my opinion Lineage2 is inexplicably addictive

and it generally sux...(coming from a guy that played for 5 years even from c1)

 

"Finito" what other totally modified servers have you seen? i looked around and i only found L2luna

that in my opinion ended up quite a dissapointment.

I think we cant be sure this thing is gonna fail cause its never been done before...

However what i really care about is...would you guyz play at this server??

Yeah the xp matter is a tough one...I wouldnt like high rate but do you think 1 month of CASUAL playing to reach 85lvl is too much?

In a way i find that it is but any less seems too little.

I do however intend to give subclasses a X3 of the overall xp rate at all times. So after finishing the main class you will be able to raise many more

easily. BTW there will be no subclass restrictions not even for kamael.

Also subclasses will retain their racial stats (str con dex etc..) meaning that if you go from:

sws--->bd you will be a bd with sws stats.

sws--->sph you will be a sph with sps stats.

 

Forgot to mention thoses.

sounds really nice but your only chance to do it, is via high rate server... means fast level up because u never will find "low" - "mid" rate player which would join your kind of "custom" server ;)

There has to be about 1000 people around the world that would enjoy a mid rate custom server.

I mean...the official l2 sucks as hard as a game can suck and still its been played by many.

 

I would never, ever neverever make a high rate server.
