HaddWik Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Hello to all readers! I have a few questions for you. I want to ask for advice. Whole life I was using Windows and I don't have any information about Linux, Mac etc... Yesterday I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm starting to learn it. I see that many hosting companies are offering Linux Ubuntu for OS. And I want to ask what will you prefer? For Server's OS: Windows 2003 Enterprice 64x Windows Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition 64x Ubuntu 10.10/10.04 64x Debian 5 64x LAMP Also I want to tell me what is the best anti dos/ddos shield that I can use for the OS that you will offer me to use. - Thanks for your attention. 0 HaddWik Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Ok 2 votes for debian. I will never put windows 7 for server's OS! What about a good spam (dos/ddos) protection for debian? Any suggestions witch one is the best? Quote
0 scrubs Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I use windows 2003 server 32bit. Love it, I used linux debian (non graphical one) before and it made everything 2 times harder to configurate files etc, But if you use linux with graphic, then yes, linux beats windows since they don't waste their RAM for example on useless crap which windows does. But I gotta say, I'm surprised that windows 2003 server was this good..I've tried in school Windows 2008 server, and all I can say is that I prefer 2003 more. Quote
