After a long wait, we can now sleep soundly knowing that Dota 2 is in the works with a release window set sometime in 2011. It appears all of the current heroes in DotA will be ported over to Dota 2, additionally, items, skills, and the map will remain effectively unchanged. The game itself will be on a new engine (we're assured it looks much nicer), with other ancillary changes such as integrated voice chat and tie-ins to Steamworks in the works as well.

 

 

What's DotA 2 ?

Dota 2 takes its name from the Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients, a drastic change to that stock real-time strategy title, which pits two teams of five players against each other in highly competitive, 40-minute or longer matches. Unlike most RTSes, DotA has each player controlling a single hero who levels up and stockpiles gold to purchase powerful equipment and consumables. As computer-controlled armies continually spawn and rush the enemy's base, players are responsible for using their powerful heroes to turn the tide of the battle in their favor.

DotA quickly gained massive popularity on Blizzard's Battle.net service, with the growing community utilizing user-created channels and the rudimentary custom game browser to connect players. As mods tend to do, it branched into several variations as time passed. Eventually, one rose to the top: DotA-Allstars, originally created by Steve "Guinsoo" Feak (now employed with Riot Games designing League of Legends). Allstars is currently maintained and updated by IceFrog (who declined to give his real name), who was hired by Valve in 2009 and is now working on Dota 2.

 

 

Dota 2 (stylized on the logo as DOTA 2) is an action fantasy strategy video game currently under development by Valve Corporation as a sequel to the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne custom scenario Defense of the Ancients.

He mananged to preserve a 2002 game and double its population using some free and available tools, while other companies, with teams of hundreds of game designers fail on this purpose.

He managed to create a huge community which grows every day and has caused the creation of 3-4 copycat-games like LoL and HoN (even if they both failed to even touch DotA's glory)

He managed to sign a deal with Valve ( Dude, Valve, a huge multinational corporation ) , even when he remained anonymous ( he is still unknown to us )

IceFrog has the game from 6.xx versions,original devs where others

but he was the one who made the game so damn amazing last years,and made a so good deal with Valve
