What does the Alpha channel?

alpha chanel is for add some effect oh something like that, for example you want make a effect fox of shield have texpanner just in photoshop make a alhpha chanel with fox and paste in later named eh alpha so when you export just need export alpha no rgb, when go to create utx in Unreal make a shader and there you add effect panner for example and get panner only in Fox :) eh sorry for my english hope you understand me
