[Help]How can i reduce my lag?

I play on CS:S online (nonsteam) but on many servers i have big latency (lag).I know that its from my connection and the distance of server but i wonder if there is any trick/tip/programm/command or whatever else to reduse my lag  ???

close all opened programs like msn,mozzila,ie etc and other programs in the workline(γραμμή εργασιών κάτω γωνία)

 

also i think it may help a command

i dont remember exactly but i will edit my post when i will found it ...

 

it is like sv_update 50 or sth like that
