Try to use yGuard. It's The only one tool (actual for 2016 year) who don't brokes a jar package overall.

I opted for proguard when I'm going to obfuscate my project I have this error but I'm using java se 16

 

gameserver\libs\l2jserver.jar] (Can't process class [net/sf/l2j/Config.class] (Unsupported version number [61.0] (maximum 60.65535, Java 16))

Your project jdk is java 17,  and max supported version of your proguard.jar is java 16. Go on their website and get the latest one, or wait for them to upgrade.
