HammerV2 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hey guys, i been working on some l2j files for months, and i am about to test it on live, i had my test server on windows so system, and i want to know wich one is better for live server? i spect to hit 100-200 players... hmmm to be honest 100 will be great :) ill use some geodata files, so i know it will take like 4gb ram to run it, so ill pay for an dedicated with 8gb at least. So, my question is, should i take windows server or linux? (linux is cheaper as i can see) Thanks in advance. Quote
Devlin Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Windows - Easier usage. Linux - Bigger performance. I prefer windows because for low amount of players, there is no reason of performance. From my pov, in case of 500+ players you have to pick Linux. Edited December 4, 2014 by Devlin Quote
SweeTs Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) Eee 4G with geo? Hell no, its like 1-1.5G depending of your pack, mods and such :P You will be fine even with 4G machine. Well, take the one you are familiar with, no big difference for such count I'd say. Just make sure its x64 bit OS :) Edited December 4, 2014 by SweeTs Quote

Tryskell Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 1.5g max, count +1mo per player to be safe but the real thing is to see the real usage with visualVM for example. A regular server shouldn't use more than 3g for 1k players. Linux and Windows is only a fans war if the RAM follows behind. Any random computer (probably a tablet, lol) can hold a L2J server. Quote

I host my server on 4G Vodafone Samsung android, you can't ddos the 4G So the answer is android Quote
