[Help] Want to learn how to develop new pieces of gear from ground up

Hi guys, I'm incredibly new to this site (was recommended by a server owner/developer friend). I'm looking for any info that can get me started developing new armor pieces for L2. I have ideas already sketched out, but I have no idea what program I need to create the 3d models or really anything on how to do this. Any advice/threads I should look at would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance!

I can't seem to find anything except for editing current pieces. Any idea how to build from the ground up?

You should first get a 3D program like Autodesk 3dsmax or Maya. Start by Googling basic modelling and I guess work your way up to animations and stuff.

i can use 3dsmax, but animations? i didn't think they were necessary just for armor. my questions are more about where would i find each race's models to fit gear to specific classes and anything extra needed to make them equip correctly...

with the armor animations thing, you will need a special software in order to adapt the animation of the armor and everything, after that I cannot answer whats next, cuz' I don't adapt armor's animations :)
