You can make a player to be a hero until the next olympiad. That would require running some queries, but it is possible.

[SHARE/Guide]ACM For Gracia Final Database!
Rin4a replied to dhm.msd's topic in Server Development Discussion [L2J]
Why are you bumping this thread every day? It's already on the first page. But thanks for the share. -
Queries ain't that bad, if you handle them correctly. In my old buffer, I used queries all the time, without thinking about the performance, but I will avoid that in my next release. I will fetch all the data from the database, when script will be initialized (when server will be starting) and store them in global arrays. So that way, the data will be there, when I need it, and I won't have to call any queries. In other words, I will be utilizing server's RAM more efficiently. I haven't thought about scheme system, because there might be more than 10k entries in the database, so I guess that I will have to use queries, despite everything, or I could make a dictionary, that will hold player's ID as a key and an array of skill ID's will be passed along. In total, 10k wouldn't be that much of a deal, but we will see..

I don't understand people like Sido. He says that there are lazy people out there, but he keeps enabling them by giving stolen web templates? It makes no sense. And this is not that good of a template, so I don't think that you succeeded. gRfd, yes it's a template.

To be honest, I never took a look at the code of this buffer, that Allen modified. I just went with it, because it seemed to be working quite well. But performance wise - it's a mess. It's like every single script, that is out there, merged into a single file, and I'm not quite happy with that. But anyway - let's get back to my original script. I took some time out from L2j, but meanwhile I was studying pythons advanced features and I understood where I went wrong, while making this buffer. It was a total crap, if we judge it by it's performance. Features were OK. So what do I have in my mind. In this summer, I will try to rewrite this buffer completely. There won't be any stand alone functions, that are being called elsewhere, because I will be using classes. For tech geeks that are out there (yeah, I'm one of them lol) - I will be fully utilizing python's advanced OOP features and I will use string formatting feature, that is really cool. To give a brief example: # We will define a dummy variable, only to show, how to output it dummy_var = "dog" But for this example, we will output dog in double quotes. How did we do that earlier? Well.. print "I have a \"" + dummy_var + "\" and it's name is Rex" So we had to concatenate dummy_var in the string and to output quotes, we had to use double double quotes and escape them and that might and will create a mess, but there is an other option, that works the same way, but is much clearer: print "I have a \"%s\" and it's name is Rex" % dummy_var We still had to escape double quotes, but if we had a bunch of variables that we would want to concatenate in the string, this method would work much much better. Don't know why I wrote this, but someone might use it in their script. Cheers.

Well this information isn't embedded in the server's core, so you would have to make a new column in the buffers_buff_list table, add the description, and make the script to fetch that information. But there is a down side. You won't be able to list more than lets say 12 buffs per page. There are more than 130 buffs added, of course if you haven't added your own ones. So the script will have 10+ pages, and as far as I know, there can be some weird malfunctions in the HTML file.

Change Adena into special item for shop!!
Rin4a replied to vlasis1973's question in Request Server Development Help [L2J]
Why don't you make it in jython? ^^ It is going to be around 80 lines of code, but it's much better than core modding. -

How old are you and do you always live by the logic that if that kid has a candy, I also must have candy? Do you? Yes, you are stealing, plus you have violated the copyrights on the author. Doesn't matter, that you didn't claim it as your own work, you got it without authors permission, modified it, and put it into the public. If author had serious intentions, he could sue your a**. That's that... -

Do you even like, what you are making? It doesn't look good. That's a fact. -

Well you can buy it, or find it in p2p sites. And you don't need CS5, unless you are a serious photographer. Oh heck with it - you don't even need CS4 to make websites. CS4's best feature is 3D object creation, but I seriously doubt that you even know how to use it. So you can stick with CS, CS2 or CS3 version. Still sticking to my opinion about you using CSS. USE IT! :) -

Design is getting better, but the code isn't. Stop slicing the page. Make it using CSS, because it will be much better in case, you want to update something. -
[Guide]How to create your NPC Buffer (Full Guide)
Rin4a replied to Ranger™'s topic in Server Development Discussion [L2J]
This is an OK guide, but the code is... a crap. You can not teach anyone to make a well organized buffer in a 500 word essay. That's that, but thanks for the effort. -
[Share][Choose] Choose between PL/EN Website's
Rin4a replied to Lelouch's topic in Website Templates & Themes (Free)
Not the text, but it's quite bad overall. Plus if you know that the text is too small, why did you make it so small? Background doesn't fit in, that PL and EN text doesn't fit in. -

Yeah... I'll pass... -
Was this an insult or a compliment? Either way - you can find that book on PirateBay. And frankly yes - I know how to design web pages (HTML, PHP, MySQL, CSS, JavaScript, Java) and I want to start to learn Flash and ActionScript 3.0.

Try reading Sitepoint's book called "Sexy Web Design - Creating Interfaces that Work". It has some baselines for web design, that will help you to improve your skills.

I wouldn't use it.. And do not use tables. Use <div> tags and CSS styling instead. -

I totally agree with Stig. It's not that good of a template. Next time try ripping something better. Like official Lineage 2 website :) -

Rin4a replied to Lelouch's topic in Website Templates & Themes (Free)
Stop slicing the website and call it coding, because it ain't! OK, there's some CSS, but it doesn't do much. Try actually coding the design from a scratch, because this one still isn't compatible with higher screen resolutions. The design is getting better, but not the code. Cheers. -
This website "might" work for lower resolution screens, but it looks awful on 1280x1024. Here's an example: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/7200/badwebsite.png Why I don't like it? 1) Top PVP Players - As you can see, the text goes over the image, making it unreadable 2) Navigation - What's up with that? There's a good amount of height reduction over the previously mentioned Top PVP Players panel 3) Design doesn't adapt to ANY standard screen resolutions (except your screens resolution) 4) Page source code - Do not use <table> tags for a design. That's what CSS and <div> tags are for Cheers.
-
Is it just me again, but that is one messed up website. Yes, it looks OK, but try adding some text. There are 2 things that might happen: 1) Your eyes will pop out of your head and explode mid air 2) You will permanently damage your vision, if you try to read it for some time Never EVER, and I can't emphasize the EVER part much enough, make the content box see though with 40-50% of opacity. Make it at least 75%. That is the absolute minimum. Navigation is quite bad, because you can't see anything without focusing really hard on the text, and previously mention things might happen to your head, if you try to focus. And the last but not least - it's a rip of an existing website. Cheers.

[Share] Lineage2 {All Client} Server Website Template!
Rin4a replied to ~AgioS~'s topic in Website Templates & Themes (Free)
Question - in what way is it awesome? Navigation - isn't good, news placeholder - doesn't fit in, overall layout is badly organized, plus try turning JavaScript off in your web browser. You can't see a darn thing! Just a tip - before promoting your self, make sure that you aren't the only one, who likes the product, because you will look like a fool. Take care. -
Using tables? That's called a bad practice. Use <div> tags instead and some CSS styling. Plus the links are barely visible, and text is hard to read. Keep up at making templates, and soon you'll get it.
