Seriously, what a loads of bullshit lol. Who said the attacker needs to ddos you all the time? They can as much as run a script on zombie computers that will ddos the targeted computer every 30 minutes for 5 minutes, making gameplay extremely annoying. And no, there is no solution to ddos. You can nullroute your own server but then you're offline as you'd be under ddos, except now you aren't wasting resources (eg, bandwith quota if you have one). Those hardware firewalls do very little to protect you against ddos. Dos (denial of service) is basically ping with huge amounts of data being sent. Attacker sends let's say 20KB of data each second and requests 20KB of data back to see if the connection is working. This way THE ATTACKER is sending data AND the attacked is sending the data BACK to the attacker. If you use a firewall and not respond to ping requests you are not replying with data but you are still receiving it. In other words, your upload is free but your download is maxed which results in the same crap. The only way to protect against ddos is to route your traffic through companies that specialize in that kind of protection. They usually have insanely fast connection and active hardware firewalls that ip ban anyone who sends through too much data. Their lines can afford that, your's cannot. That is why you rent their services. Seriously kids, next time when you decide to smartass, get your facts straight. Forgot to say. Just so you dumbfu_._._ realise, it's not that easy to ban incomming attacks either. Ddos stands for DISTRIBUTED denial of services attacks which means attackers have a huge network of lots of computers from all over the world. We took L2jfree's base code FOUR months ago and are actively developing it BY OURSELVES ever since. We are NOT one of those crappy one day servers who can't even compile their code by themselves. History: We started out as a x5000 rate server but after a month closed it down due to low population. We restructured it, changed lots of things and came back as we promised. Present: We are now online without any problems for about 3 weeks with an average of 150+ daily and still rapidly rising. Our server is located in Germany, more precisely Frankfurt. It is a Quadcore opteron with 4GB of ram hosted on a dedicated 100mbit connection. Each class (main/sub/sub/sub/sub/sub) get it's own scheme. b) Old way is with three kind of presets. Mage, tank and fighter. Each button click will give you specific buffs for the class (it's faster but not as dynamic as first one). Class changing npc. He looks like a little kitten. If you accidentally close the class changing window popup (once you reach a level for first/second/third class change a window automatically opens up asking you what class you wish to pick) you can talk to this kitten and he'll change your class free of charge. Roy the cat is also in charge of our custom rebirth system. Upon getting max level that your class can reach (85 for main, 84 for sub) you can learn first rebirth stage. You get offered a gracia final transformation as a skill and your evaluation score changes from 0 to 100 (light blue-ish name). In return you get deleveled to level 10. You must then re-level to max level again to learn second stage. You get offered ANOTHER transformation for a total of two now, you get 150 recommendations (blue-ish name color). Your level reverts to 10 yet again. Third time reaching max level third, last rebirth option appears visible.
