Recruiting Devs for substantial L2 Project

Question

Posted

Note to the staff: I know this is a double post from the Off-Topic thread, but I figured I would get more Dev visibility here. If this is a problem, please immediately send me a PM and I will remove it. Thanks.

I am currently recruiting the following for a large L2 project. I understand that this forum is over-saturated with job openings for server that will probably die within the next couple months, weeks, days, hours.

First and foremost, that isn't what I am looking for. Let me be very clear about that. This is as much a business venture as it is hosting a public server. I have very realistic goals in a planned timeline. Just looking for people willing to come on board to help me get there.

A little about me:

- Double major in Business Admin and English Education with a minor in History from the Ohio State University.

- 25 years old

- Been playing Lineage 2 for a few years with some time spent behind the scenes in administration, however this will be my first attempt running the show. Being new in the ownership community I find as much a blessing than anything else. Why? Because I don't have a rep a community can use as an excuse not to join.

- I am very, very organized and very, very dedicated. Once I sink my teeth in something I find it very hard to let go. I expect anyone working with me to develop the same kind of passion for this project as I have.

- I am an easy person to work for if you are motivated to get stuff done. However, if your not I am also an easy person to help you on your way out the door. I reward hard work with promotions and pay and I have problem firing someone for having a bad attitude.

- I currently have the website paid for and the forums are being setup now.

What I am looking to fill immediately:

- Server and Client side Devs. I plan on taking everything that works on private servers and implementing it and taking what doesn't work and trashing it. Things I would like to see included are things like working epic raid bosses, a working in game Community Board system, a working Command Channel, etc.

- mySQL enthusiast and web coders for the website and forums. This is what I like to call the "handshake" when it comes to developing a community. Regardless of how great a server is, if the website and forums aren't appealing, it isn't going to work from the get-go.

- A few talented Graphic Artists and photoshop gurus for originality of the site and forums.

-Server will contain heavily modified L2J (to stay legal) files set either in HB or (if I can get enough Devs to meet my expectations) Freya.

What I would like to obtain in the near future (as in AFTER I find an exemplary Dev staff):

- Dedicated GMs and forum moderators. People with experience are key and don't expect to carry on the same alias's you have used before. I want anonymity among my staff so we won't carry any kind of bad rep into the project.

- A couple graphic artists to help put finer touches on the website and forums. In some cases this is almost as important as coders and devs. These people put flare, artistry, and mystique that pull players in. Again, experience is key.

- Anyone willing to financially partner up. Not too important to me as I am fully capable of doing this on my own and am willing to, however I would be willing to partner up with someone.

All applicants must be 20+ years of age, English speaking, and have a kickass get-it-done attitude. If this sounds appealing to you feel free to send me a PM on the forums and I will set up an interview.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Well, I like your enthusiasm (or whatever it's in english), but some things bother me :

- you are asking a full team without even talking of project itself (except chronicle). What is the use to have all those "slaves" only for you ?

- you got no programming knowledge (or at least, your studies don't help a lot). This is the main problem. Do you know the number of people asking for "slaves" without knowing anything about the software ? They're a lot.

Anyway, gl to your project, but take care because you ask perhaps "too much" (around what... 10 differents jobs ?). And explore L2J project itself, else you will have problems for sure.

My hints are only because you made efforts to do a "Tryskell-post". Aka massive & well-written structured text.

Sorry but I think you're wrong with the 20+ years of age limit.

I've been active with L2 since I've been 14 (18 now).

When I was 15, I became GM on L2 Revenge (the real one), of course I had to "Fake" my age there aswell.. but that just proves that age doesn't really matter.. it's your attitude that matters.

I understand what you are saying, that it would be beneficial to have a background in programming, however i see too often where server owners devote a good amount of time coding and not enough time organizing/scheduling/planning and thats why you see these projects fail time and time again. I believe that if i were to approach this as a structured and organized business  model and surround myself with people that know what don't and can fill in the gaps that this can be a very successful project.

Concerning your question about lack of content offered, that's because until i find devs that meet my requirements through an interview process there isn't much else i can disclose other than what i already have. I appreciate your advice and concern however and will consider it.

Age has been a bit of a taboo subject Ive noticed and i would be willing to reconsider on a case by case basis, however most individuals of a younger age have situations and events transpiring at that age that it doesn't offer them the time to meet the specific needs i am demanding. It isn't a question of maturity.

Hello!

I agree with you that a programmer can't handle a whole server, even if he's experienced enough. Always, in any other job/project, there should be a brain existing. The programmer cannot handle the whole proccess of building the server, from its coding, advertisement and publicity 'till the most difficult and inescapable situations.

I'm about to send you a PM.

It just depends from personality.

New homepage and forums. Come check them out. We have set up a Freya 10x and have already purchased a temp server to test the files out.

Update: Still looking for creative devs for coding our Freya files and we are in heavy need of a web coder. Both positions are paying positions so message me now or visit the forums at www.escapel2.com/forums or through the homepage and message "Phreak" or "Dark Knight"

    • PlayerPort: The Ultimate In-Game Web Engine for Lineage 2 Hello. For those who don't know me, I specialize in Lineage 2 interface and client/server development. PlayerPort is my ongoing project - an attempt to build a truly universal, modular, multi-server in-game web engine. The goal is to stop "pushing" players out of the game to forums, websites, or external messengers. Instead, I want to keep them engaged by providing a seamless, high-quality experience directly within the game client. What is PlayerPort? It is a client-side module that acts as a hybrid UI. It integrates a lightweight web engine directly into the Lineage 2 client, bridging the gap between the native engine (UnrealScript/XML) and a modern web layer (HTML/JS/CSS). The Architecture: JS (Layer 0): Handles structural skeletons, widgets, and basic styling. Flash (Layer 1): Manages graphical wrappers, physics/animations, and transitions. PortNatives (C++ API): A low-level engine for math, logging, Windows interaction, WebSockets, and heavy lifting. This "sandwich" architecture allows for smooth, interactive, and high-performance UI components that don't suffer from the limitations of the legacy webkit. Key Features & Modules PortUI Framework: My own lightweight UI framework based on standard Lineage 2 methodology. No heavy external libraries - just vanilla JS with GPU-accelerated rendering. It allows for complex transitions, particles, parallax, and procedural animations without bloating the system. Advanced Report System: Fully integrated ticket management. Players can submit reports directly from the game, including attachments. It supports simple copy-paste or screenshot capture. PortNatives optimizes images (even 4K/8K) in milliseconds, reducing file size by up to 50x without losing quality, ensuring near-instant loading. Radio Module: A streamlined radio service with a vast selection of stations. Features include a mini-player (PIP), high-quality streams with jitter-fix, and a smart system that pre-checks connection status to avoid timeouts. PortStream (Streaming): Full integration for streaming platforms. You can display custom streamer lists or popular feeds directly in-game. Features include status monitoring, live preview tiles, PiP (Picture-in-Picture) playback, and native volume control (up to 200%). Communication Hub: Inter-server forums and messaging that allow collaborating projects to share news, welcome messages, and support systems without leaving the game. Admin & Analytics: Real-time dashboards tracking server population, player behavior, trade analysis, and anti-RMT/botting tools. The system builds connection chains between characters to assist administrators. Why does this matter? The current ecosystem is fragmented. By centralizing everything - support tickets, social interaction, radio, and streaming - within the client, we improve the "Quality of Life" for players and reduce administrative overhead. Performance: All network activity is handled by an external process, isolating it from the l2.exe core. We utilize "lazy" updates (periodic POSTs) and "active" subscriptions, ensuring minimal impact on game performance. Compatibility: Works on everything from ancient clients (like Grand Crusade p110) to the latest Essence/Live versions. Availability: I am looking for enthusiasts and server projects interested in adopting this. Integrating the system is fast and simple. The core service is free. Future Outlook I am currently focusing on PortCanvas, a proxy layer that will allow developers to replace native UI windows with custom web-based components. This will effectively turn Lineage 2 into a shell for fully custom web applications, accessible to anyone with basic web development skills - no complex compilers or proprietary editors required. If you are interested in implementing this on your project, or if you have questions, feel free to reach out.     Gallery https://imgur.com/a/Dqrl4L9         Contact: https://t.me/TELEGABOY See you in the next update. 🐀
