[HELP]problem with sql server 2005

hey guys i am new at l2off,

so when i start with sql server 2005 management studio,at the server name i put localhost right?

and then connect?

but i get this error:

Do Windows Authentical and name to login will be localhost and no need for ur password

Well.

 

Start your damn SQL server for one. :P

(I can't imagine it's not, but just in case).

 

Open up SQL Configuration manager and make sure the SQL Server service is started.

 

 

Altho to me, it looks like Named Pipes are disabled(more common).

In SQL Config manager, explore the services and make sure Named Pipes, are enabled (not just tcp/ip etc )

I had something like that long time ago. Try entering computer name or (local) instead of localhost.
