[HELP_FAST]Please look fast.

I found a off server that can run on windows xp 32 bit, i have downloaded and installed mssql server 2005 express, but when i try to connect to localhost, it says cannot connect to server bla bla. must i do something else before i can connect? must i have installed mysql 5.1?

You made something wrong in your steps. Mysql ? WTF L2Off uses MSSQL. Maybe you didn't setup the ODBC, or something. Check that you made everything as it should be. I can't tell you more cause i don't have more info, that error can have many reasons.

i have istalled odbc(not configured it or something just installed), then installed mssql server 2005 express, and i have a box when i run it that says:

Connect to a server:

 

Server Name: (here i add localhost)

Authentication: Windows Authentication

 

I press connect, and i get error sayying:

TITLE: Connect to Server

Cannot connect to localhost.

 

------------------------------

A and what is allow remote connections? how do i enable this?

You MUST setup the ODBC correctly, you should setup the TCP/IP connections using SQL Server Surface Area Configuration.

P.S: Don't use Express version use Enterprise, cause Express has very limited functions. I think your problem is ODBC configuration.

hm i'l try to install not express. but i have to find it for 32 bit....
