Format your PC and install Windows again. Everything important should go to CD's before that. That's the only way. If microsoft is not responding then the softawres aren't too if the softwares aren't responding windows isn't. That's the answer to your wonder.

These are two things you should install after format , if you are on xp you need the first one in order to install windows live messenger:

Microsoft Installer 3.1 Redistributable

.NET Framework 3.5

2 things may be the problems.

Either your browser or your hosts file.

So use mozzila , and check the hosts file they should contain only this line:

127.0.0.1    localhost

if you see something like this:

127.0.0.1   www.microsoft.com

then your hosts are blocking microsoft websites.

i can log into the microsoft websites with these hosts

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

127.0.0.1       localhost

@Apithanos

Remove that link asap. :)

@Strike

I don't know why you can't download stuff from microsoft.

Try using a proxy maybe, ivacy e.g (might work, I can't guarantee for it though).

Anyway, till you fix your problem, you can use Pidgin instead of msn messenger (it supports msn e-mails).
