Matim Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Hello, like 5 months ago, I have bought new laptop, Samsung NP550P7C 17.3" Series 5 Notebook, with following hardware: Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 3610QM (2.30GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) Graphic: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 650M Graphics, Optimus™ technology 2GB DDR3 Storage: 1TB S-ATA II Hard Drive (5400RPM), BluRay Drive Memory: 6GB DDR3 System Memory at 1600MHz (4GB x 1 + 2GB x 1) System: Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64-bit) HD Audio SoundAlive™ JBL 3 Speakers (With sub-Woofer) 1.3 megapixel HD Webcam 17.3" HD+ LED Display (1600 x 900), Anti-Reflective Price when purchased: 900£ (~1350 USD, ~1050 euro) I bought it mainly for development purposes, but wanted to play some games occasional, since mentioned hardware is not bad, I can play latest games but the problem is that laptop is getting REALLY hot (on the left side of the laptop), and by saying really hot I mean it seriously, once when I touched accidentally HDMI port which is located on the left side, it was hot as hell. I do understand that in really performance expensive games (ex. GTA 4 its normal that laptop is getting really hot) but even while playing fun older games (ex. Battlefield Heroes) its getting so hot as well, that sometimes I am bit worried. Sometimes played for few hours, never had any crash or any warn about temperature, but still its but weird for me. I am not hardware specialist, so excuse me if I lack knowledge, any hints? Quote
JaharakaL Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I think that you have to buy a laptop cooler. http://quietpc.gr/images/products/zm-nc3500-plus-large.jpg Quote
Grim. Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 It's not something to worry about, i would suggest you to buy a laptop cooler as Jaha mentioned above. Also where do place the laptop? Because some materials like wood keep the heat with the result of making the laptop get a big temperature. Quote
Matim Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Thanks for replys, In fact I am using cooler, forget to mention, but its really cheap version I found once in "poundland" it has 3 little fans but from what I see it does no difference (Shop where you can buy everything for a 1£ :D) Anyway, the one JaharakaL mentioned looks much more professional, I will try to find it on ebay and buy it. About where do I keep my laptop, tried various "surfaces" but always the same. Quote
JaharakaL Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Well before you buy a cooler give it to a service shop for Computers so they can clear the dust from inside the laptop. Quote
Matim Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 You think it might be full of dust after like 5 months already? Edit: when playing games, my GPU temp seems to be constant at 72 C. Quote

sτrίkε- Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 You think it might be full of dust after like 5 months already? Edit: when playing games, my GPU temp seems to be constant at 72 C. Dust is the main problem for Laptops. Buy a good cooler(before, give it to a pc hardware center to clear it from dust) and be carefull where you're placing the laptop as Grim said. Quote
ShuN^ Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Temperature is ok if it's on full load. But as the guys mentioned above, you should clean it and buy a good cooler. I doubt you're gonna see a big drop but there will be some difference. Quote
Raule Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 or put a big fan under it :forever alone like a boss: Quote
