[Help] Danger Area on type=swamp/poison/damage.

rafaelbr89

Question

Hey there guys,

I've been trying to make a spawn protection that is slightly different from the ones that are already shared here. It's half complete, yet I'm now stuck.

Basically, whenever you set a certain area on areadata.txt as type=swamp, type=poison or type=damage and you're standing on that place in-game you'll receive a skill called Danger Area (skill_name=[s_dangerous_area] on skilldata.txt). Yet, the fact you'll receive that skill is not defined on areadata.txt itself. Does anyone actually know where it is defined?

Note: you don't really need to tell me the exactly place. Tell me the file name and I'll find it.

I got what you mean. It's actually the only place left. I'll try to find it there.

Use logic for -beep-s sake - are you wannabe devs just able to follow a staight forward tutorials?.

Correct me if i'm wrong but it's been there since c1.

(Feel free to put a HUGE flame responce against me, if i am).

It exists with the same Skill id, in the meifu and sina files.

Also applies itself in both c1 and c4.

Ergo before anyone wrote any extenders, it's effective.

Ergo, it's not in an "extender".

It's most likely hardcoded in l2server, and probably called somewhere in CAreaDB/CArea:: by natively default of the types you mentioned.

L2off people who lurk here may have run of a ton of servers or not - and been popular and all that.

But why does every single person in here just spurt out stuff they have no knowledge of - to try and look cool or what?

Calm down Mc, that won't help in anyway xD We can just watch and penetrate their security holes for fun xD.

You can make it through areadata. You can even block certain actions in that area.

Areadata.txt EXAMPLE
area_begin name=[area_name] map_no = {20;25} type=poison target=pc skill_name=[s_spawn_silence].... Just for explanation.
Skilldata.txt EXAMPLE
skill_begin	skill_name=[s_spawn_silence]..... this is how you start making a new skill

Best Regards.

There's a guide somewhere here that says l2server is part of an extender. Be it or not, I don't -beep-ing care. When I said 'I got what you mean' I meant I knew I'd have to dissemble l2server to find it.

You're -beep-ing ignorant, but at least your posts informative. Thank you.

I do have everything I need. If you guys from mxc still lock topics after they're answered, you may help yourself now.

You've got to be shitting me?

You ask me privately for help first.

Then screw up definitions about what is what and generally just assume you know things when communicating with others who also don't know jack.

End up with nothing and no solution, no knowledge learned.

Then call me ignorant?

Interesting new low here at MXC.

If your car won't start and someone tells you to "check under the hood" - do you ONLY check the engine cause a guide told you so long ago?

What about spark plugs, gas, the battery? (And probably a ton of other things, not an expert on the subject)

Oh no engine's fine - must just be a dead car!

This is what's bloody wrong.

You and the rest of the initiative lacking "devs" speak based on loose memory of something you may or may not have read/learned.

Screw up definitions and subjects you have no knowledge of - and then live in a little bubble inside your heads about what can changed/fixed and what can't.

And presto we have the current situation in the Eco System in l2off.

A few oldy veterans knows how things work - and the rest squabble around blindly further destroying knowledge as each day passes.

Yay.

PS:

An Extender has never ever ever been mentioned as the same as L2Server, in any guide.

Atleast in english.

I do really speak based on memory of things I've read. That's the only way there is for me to learn stuff and try to go further on that subject.

The difference is that I don't simple trust/copy what I read. I prefer to do them myself so I can actually learn something from it.

This post itself and the private message I sent you are evidence of that. I think the spawn protections shown here are shitty, so I decided to try doing something different myself.

And, actually, I did learn something here: my definitions were wrong (not my fault) and what I asked on the topic is coded on L2server (and this is what this topic was about). I just didn't have time to look for it so far.

L2server wasn't mentioned to be the same as an extender. It was mentioned to be part of it.

lol

L2Server if im not wrong, is or the C1 PTS or the C4 PTS (depends what you use). L2Server is l2server, it isn't a part of anything, Dynamic Link Libraries are part of an extender, its like a shirt that is too short and you add other pieces to make it longer or bigger. But if you take off all that Dll's it will remain (in most cases) a Normal C4 PTS protocol 656 (too short shirt).
