Everyone have this problem. It's because of the new versions. Search for a very old version of VLC. I stopped use VLC. Download BS player. When you press to play the movie it automate searching in Internet and shows you many results of Greek subtitles(subtitles that fits in your movie), you download them and you are ready to watch the movie. So I recommend you to download BS player.
