  1. I didn't take into account the future of Olympiad when I thought about that type of event. Mainly because I never liked olympiad for reasons that some people stated in this topic. Anyhow after some thoughtful days I took cortesy of designing the system in detail and implementing it in my test server. At frist I thought it would need lots of coding, turns out it wasn't that difficult feature. So here's my implementation in detail.

     

    1)Each player can have Hero points. At any given time, the top1 player of each class that has the most hero points becomes the hero automatically. The game checks the ranking at intervals.

     

    2)The hero points reset to zero every two weeks. This is the Heroic period. In other words all points get removed from the game every two weeks.

     

    3)Points enter the game by ancient heroic spirit's blessings towards the players. Siegheart, Lionna, Bartz etc, bestow heroic points into the game on multiple occasions. Some of them:

     

    a)At the start of the heroic period every person online gets 200 hero points from Bartz.

    b)Lionna sends 1500 points in every event of the game (e.g. TvT ). The winning team splits the 1000 points equally. The losers split the 500.

    c)Sieghart sends 10.000 points in every castle under siege. Providing there are attackers and defenders, the winning clan splits those points equally among it's online members.

    d)Erica sends random points from 0  to 20, randomly to people that are participating in pvp as a reward for their courage of risking to lose hero points in battle.

     

    4)Points exit the game by performing special abilities. Each special ability costs 1% of your hero points. Currently there are two special abilities.

     

    a).stealth, makes you invisible as long as you dont perform actions or move. Can't be used in combat or when you are surrounded by players.

    b).locate <playername> allows you to locate the whereabouts of a person.

     

    5)Points change hands ingame during pvp or pk. The rules are as follows:

    a)When you kill someone in pvp, you get 5% of his points. If you are in party, the points split equally in your party.

    b)When you pk someone in pvp, you get 10% of his points. Same party rules apply. Clearing karma is custom and not easy as in killing one mob.

    c)When you kill a pk, you get 50% of his points.

    d)When you win someone in olympiad, you get 10% of his points.

     

    Pretty good tho why reset the points, read my previous posts about the ladder thingy. :)

  2. yea but it will reduce it even just a bit. You can even make it so players see each other as different races etc.

    Also imagine how much effort they should put into bringing the people in the chat talking over it etc.

     

    In my opinion the best way to avoid feeding is to actually make a proper matchmaking system with restrictions in it, i see no need for such mods. :)

  3. Yes, so the competitiveness would increase even more, and everybody would be continuously trying to be better than everyone else! As long as the server is balanced enough (and not full of high-priviledged donators who rule the world), this could work very well. And instead of that Heroic mxc, the heroes could have a few more priviledges. For example, access to the Heroic Weapons, which will have slightly better stats, or something like that.

     

    Balance is a matter of pack choice, pick l2j and l2j based packs and you'll never get any balance whatsoever. :)

  4. Well, for something more advanced, it can be like a daily event.

    It starts in a specific hour and the players have 10 minutes to join. The first round starts, and each participant fights another. The winner advances to the next round. After all the matches, the players are given a specific time, let's say 10 minutes, to prepare for the next round. Also, they can look at the NPC responsible for the event for information about their next oponent. For example, "Your next opponent is Gleeba, he won his first round match in X minutes and Y seconds and has entered the event using the Saggitarious Class". Then the second round begins, and this goes on until there is a winner. And in the end the winner wins a prize, or if there are many participants, there are prizes for the first "Insert Number Here" winners.

    And if this is still too simple, there could be branches to this as well. For example, you participate in the event with a friend, and you do 2v2 battles until a team stands victorious.

    And to make this even more interesting, at the end of the week/2 weeks/month, all the winners of the event are put in a "Champions' League", where they get to fight each other in order to determine the 'Grand Winner', who is going to get an enormous prize. And also people that don't participate in the event can watch it as spectators (just like Oly).

     

    In a more advanced style from my perspective the optimal way for heroes would be this:

     

    The heroes in general should be rulers of all, like it was intended to be the best player in pvp originally. So a great way to achive that and to maintain it is to check players success. Most enchant on most used set, most attribute on most used set(which set can be defined as the set of the main class or even set by the player),castle ownership, clan hall ownership(with siegable hall bonus), clan level, amount of clan skills, clan rep contributed(all these ofc in case if the player is in clan or owns one), pvp activity based on k/d ratio and many more. Would be boring to write down all the stuff in my head. Than developing a point based system out of that and make the X best players on the server heroes until someone doesnt surpasses them on the imaginery ladder(you have more points than the 10th player you get hero status he looses it).

     

    Altho your round based idea is a great thing too can imagine it is as an addition to the current system.

  5. Yeah, only it will be more.. "open", since the players won't be limited to using their original class, and more popular, since it will be like going to PvP Areas to fight, only they will also be getting a prize for it. If the new hero system is implemented, and somebody still wants to do something with the Olympiad, I believe that this could be a possible use for it. Not too complicated, not hard for the players to do or understand, and pretty interesting, since it will promote competitiveness and will make the sever overflowing with players, during the times of the event daily, simply because they will be willing to gain as many PvPs as possible.

     

    Kinda get your idea, tho for me too simple^^

We turn it into an event, like a Tournament which lasts for a week, where people fight off each other 1v1, like the Normal Olympiad, only they get to fight with any class they want, and are able to use any item they want (just like a normal 1v1). At the end of the week the person with the most points, or the top 10, or top 20 (depending on how populated the server is), gets to win something. And there can be even more branches to this, since there can be different types of fights, eg. Party versus Party, or 2v2, or Specific Number of Members of one Clan against Specific Number of Members of another Clan, etc.

     

    But thats the olympiad concept since ages except the clan thingy.

Actually with a properly balanced after il chronicle this can be done easily, since the olympiad related modification is nothing serious you just take out to oly points to be a global variable that you can use anywhere and make an achivements engine for it. Altho the question it brings up atleast in my mind, is that what happens with the unused olympiad how could it be usefull even with this new way of promoting heroes.

  9. Yes i did interprid, and an4chy i already tried your solution, no help, well what i did is just delete my current engine, and refurbished the phoenix engine instead

     

    well...i dont really know who tweeked this CTF you shared here, but thats the l2jfree CTF renamed. I suggest take a look into the 1 on the svn and you'll get your fix since l2jfree rarely use trove :)
