I don't think that _boat is of type Creature...

So, this Creature class should be the equivalent of L2Character I suppose?

This is not L2JServer, isn't it? You should use this method exactly as it's signature says... the first two arguments should be instances of Creature and the others should be booleans.

Without proper error report it's like shooting in the dark... you can only guess (by throwing dices) what kind of crap he made.
