DTX3 files are simple textures - You are adding texture on texture. Ofc You can always do that, but it's not a correct way to get depth effect. Anyway, gl.

3lackheart Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 DXT3 texture has MORE details , and afaik it gives more detail on your specular level (more detail), yet it increase your file size. I suggest to use dxt1 for specular masking etc2

I suggest to use dxt1 for specular masking etc2 ...WHAT ?! 1. Use DXT3 file as SPECULARITY MASK (so he had used it well). 2. Use DXT1 file as the for e.g.: texture environment map and place it as SPECULAR. * * We can always use simple DXT1 file as SPECULAR (instead of texture environment map) to add color for whole layer masked by DXT3 file (SPECULARITY MASK). If You dont know what the hell I'am speaking about, go and see Shader from Cyclic Cane (Psyskilt_Cane) :] Conclusion: ExoMark, You shouldnt be using simple DXT3 file (_sp) as Your SPECULAR - this will give You a -beep-ed effect :] Thats all... EDIT: And finaly to make it clear about this error: http://img714.imageshack.us/i/textures3.jpg/ Your name "Rmace" have no spaces, right ? But WHAT WITH WHOLE PATH TO THAT FILE ?! For e.g.: C:\Program Files\UnrealEngine2\Texture\Rmace.utx Do You see this -beep-ing space at "Program Files" ? :] REINSTAL YOUR UE2 and choose instalation path without any spaces on folder names ! Conclusion: - WRONG path: C:\Program Files\UnrealEngine2\Texture\Rmace.utx (this will give You an error !) - CORRECT path: C:\ProgramFiles\UnrealEngine2\Texture\Rmace.utx (this will not cause an error !)
