Cause I was playing there from the very begining. Server was often full. Plus, Catalin was making announcements about player cap increases from time to time. I recall an announcement informing about a 3 k player cap increase.

The thing is that Arion didn't have that many slots in the begining, no matter how many people were online.

 

A new account's creation meant 1 or 2 weeks of free premium (not sure), so premium account users were many.
