help with server connection problems please? :D

Question

Posted

Ok, so here's a quick rundown.

My server/desktop here in my dorm is running everything just fine,

my game & login servers boot up nicely and run quickly, the client loads up and I can sign in, and everything fits together nicely.

But, when someone outside of my hall's router tries to connect, their computer can't find the server,

The reason for this is because our ITS department has all 65,535 ports stealthed.

Does anyone know how I could get around this aside from breaking things and getting someone to create a security risk? :P

If you need more info just let me know.

Thank you for all your help!

On the every router there are 65,535 ports for things to come in and things to go out.

Why that many? not really sure.

But what I do know, is that when these ports are stealthed you can get out, but nothing can get in from the outside unless you bring it in.

small update: I set up my server on no-ip, but for some reason or another the l2.ini file in both my client and the people-who-are-trying-connect's clients don't contain it anymore.

I may have this entire problem solved if I could just find what they replaced it with, or the file itself again.

Thanks,

Metal

65535 is a standard anyway this means the incoming connections blocked so you cant open ports for an l2 server. The l2.ini problem can be a problem from fileedit maybe you saved in wrong version idk(i never client-fuck-up)try it out with a normal host too
