how to create rusty font

today we see how to create rusty font



create a new document 700x300

push "D" to reset the color to black & white

go to filter->render->cloud


next go to filter->pixelate->mezzotinto and set on fine dots


then go to filter->blur->motion blur and set angle to 0° ,distance 130


Go to Hue/saturation (Ctrl+u) click on colorise set hue to 40 and saturation on 20


select layer hue/saturation and the cloud layer, right click merge layers

ctrl+T to resize the layer, extend the edge


Now write the text with nighmare_hero font,you can find it on dafont (i'have set it to 130 pixel)

and right click to the layer text



ctrl+left click on the text layer to make a selection, create a new layer fill it with black, and go to filter->blur->gaussian blur, set the radius to 3 px

and place it under the text layer


Now open the texture http://zombyxx.kilu.de/tutps/rusty_text/1236830_57162908.jpg  on a new layer a put it above the text layer, ctrl+click to make the selection of the texte and ctrl+maj+I to invert the selection

now delete on the texture layer (push suppr^^) and put the layer on overlay mode


make little modification like saturation, blur and here we go
