Counter-Strike started as a normal Half-Life MOD and over the years has

exploded into the most played multiplayer game to date. 100 000 servers go up

EVERYDAY, Counter-Strike Retail is also one of the top selling games in all

time. Why is it so popular? Personally I like realistic First Person

Shooters, that whole 'run like a mad man into that room with a huge-ass

rocket launcher and blow the crap out of everyone' thing just doesn't appeal

to me, I like games like CoD, the Rainbow 6 Series and Counter-Strike where

careful planning and strategy is required to win.

 

Steam is a new way of playing Counter-Strike, it was developed by Valve to

'revolutionize' the way you play online. To learn more about Steam got to the

site, www.steampowered.com. This guide only covers Steam Counter-Strike. Why?

Simple- Sooner or later Valve will abandon WON and transfer to Steam. The new

version is a huge overhaul and I'd rather save myself the time and energy to

make a guide for the future, instead of the past.

Buying half-life is quite easy now, you can buy the platinum pack for about

50 bucks which has Counter-Strike, Day Of Defeat, Half-Life, Team Fortress

Classic, Opposing Force, Blue Shift (I think) and a bunch of others. Or you

can buy just buy HL and download all the mods, which was good for me, or if

you can't find it in stores, you can buy it over steam for 40 dollars US I

think and you get all the Hl mods too. Personally I think just buying HL is

good if you want it for the mods, but if you like the single player HL and

want more, buying blue shift and Op For may also be good for you.

 

NOTE- The steam install guide is at section 1.3.5

 

After you install steam, you will want to create a steam account, and then

you will want to install the 1st party mods and then if you want, 3rd party

mods.

 

After that head to the settings menu and put the settings to your

preferences. Now you're going to want to go to the server list to finally

get playing, under filters check off the following- server not full, has

users playing, and is not password protected, you can also configure your

ping rang, 250 is good for me and I have DSL so for any 56kers out there,

you will want to set it to less than 150 or 100. If you play in pass

protected servers though, you won't want to check of is not password

protected.

 

Location wont matter for broadband users but for any 56kers I suggest you

set it to where you live. Anti-cheat is basically useless in my opinion, in

my entire history of playing CS the anti-cheat has only ever caught ONE

person when if I was admin, I would ban like half the server for hacking, but

its your choice.

"The never ending job" as said by another HL MOD FAQ writer, finding a good

server is always hard but in the end is very worth it. Ok so if you read my

above 2 paragraphs you basically know how to set filters and which ones to

set. Now you have to decide what kinds of server you want to play on, ones

with lots of people, ones with a few people etc. Personally I think it is

much more fun with lots of people like 20+ people in one server.

 

Ok so lets pretend I'm trying to find a good server to go on, first I would

hit the player tab at the top of the server list which makes all the servers

with lots of people go to the top. Just a little tip from a server picking

vet, any server that only have 1 player slot are not joinable, don't try,

because about 95% of all servers have a thing called 'reserved slots' where

at least one slot is always left open for the admin or another VIP. So

always go into servers with 2+ empty player slots, if you are playing with

a group of people, make sure the server has one more slot than the number

of people you want to play with, example-

 

# of people= 3, # of slots on servers= 3 = bad

 

# of people= 3, # of slots of server= 4 = good

 

There are 3 different Map types that are out of the box, many more maps can

be Downloaded from a server or website (place any Dled maps in your

C-\program files\steam\steamapps\INSERT EMAIL HERE\counter-strike\cstrike

\maps) The 3 default types are Bomb Planting/Defuse (DE_ maps) Hostage

Rescue (CS_ maps) and Assassin Maps (AS_ maps) I will give a brief

explanation of each type of mission in the following paragraph.

                        Bomb Planting/Defuse (DE_ maps)

==============================================================================

 

The CTs must defend a area where the bomb can be planted, called the 'bomb

site' or 'b site' in most maps there are two bomb sites, labelled 'a'

and 'b', most of the time there will be signs pointing to each bomb site. The

Terrorists however must carry and plant the bomb at the bomb site and then

successfully defend it from the CTs. In the event that the bomb has been

planted, the CTs can/must eliminate any remaining Terrorists and defuse the

bomb, this is done much faster by buying a defuse kit (B,8,6).

 

If the bomb is planted, the time will also go away, in the previous version

in the last 30 seconds in a game would be useless to a Terrorist with the bomb

as the timer would run out making the CTs win even though the bomb had been

planting, so to prevent CT camping when the bomb was planting the Devs

removed the timer when the bomb had been planted so planting in the last 30

secs would still be useful.

 

Its good etiquette as a CT to attack the bomb site and defuse the bomb and

for a Terrorist to defend the bomb site as long as possible.

                         Hostage Rescue (CS_ maps)

==============================================================================

 

In these types of maps the CTs must go to where the hostages are being held,

and then lead them to the safety zone marked by the ( R ) on the middle left

hand side of your HUD. The terrorists however must defend attack from the CTs

and guard and keep the hostages at their hiding place at all times,

Terrorists

are not alerted when a hostage has been taken, only when they have been

rescued. Killing or injuring the hostages will take away a lot of money from

you so never hurt hosties.

                          Assassin Maps (AS_ maps)

==============================================================================

 

The least played map type out there, as a CT you must keep the VIP alive and

bring him to a certain point in the map. If you are a CT you can choose to be

a VIP through the team selection screen. The VIP CANNOT pick up any weapons

and can only use his USP he spawns with. The terrorist must try and kill the

VIP, if they do they win the round, if they don't they lose.

 

NOTE- in any type of map, if all the people are killed on one team, the other

will win, no matter the map type, the only exception is when a Terrorist

plants

the bomb and gets killed, the CTs will not win the round as the bomb is still

there, you must defuse it by pressing [E] while standing above it.

The most important aspect of CS, the weapons are what truly shapes this game.

Here is a legend on how to use this section, my example is the Glock because

it is so close and I am lazy.

This gun is the Terrorist starting gun. Many people dislike this gun because

it is so weak, but if used properly it can get you out sticky situations. If

the target is in medium or far range, use the single bullet function for

better accuracy. If the target is close, switch to burst fire and take burst

at his head or upper body to kill the target quickly.

 

In a pistol round this gun can be good for a Terrorist who wants to save

cash. This gun is best used with burst mode in close distance so it can do

serious damage, as you fire with this gun, slowly make your way to the head

(on the shoulders) as you fire so the enemy has less chance to respond.

 

Killing a person with this gun can be quite simple, as long as you keep

moving he won't be able to get a good shot on your head, which is his best

chance at killing you. While moving continue to shoot at him and he should be

dead quite quickly.

The Glock 18, if you first look at it, looks like the Glock 17, the only

difference is a small dial-like selector on the side, gas vents on the side

and a faintly protruding barrel. When tucked away, anyone could mistake the

G-17 for the G-18 and vice versa. Visual appearances are the only things

these 2 pistols have in common how ever, the G-17 is a normal 9mm pistol,

while the G-18 is more like a sub-machine gun than a pistol.

 

In Counter-strike, the Glock can fire either single-shot or automatic shots.

Originally it was to be used for Counter-Terrorist purposes, many

organizations such as the DEA have used it. The recoil from the automatic

shots is very powerful. The G-18 uses normal G-17, but the parts are not

completely compatible so that some one can't take a G-17 and make it into a

G-18.

READ THIS- You should read the profiles of ALL the weapons, or at least the

profiles of the section you are reading on, the reason for this is because I

can't copy everything from one gun to another, so lots of good info is hidden

in places you would never have though to look.

The best friend of Snipers and Rushers alike, the Pistol can be a deadly

sidearm is used properly. In Counter-Strike a pistol is the only piece of

equipment you will recive automaticlly at the start of each round. Terrorist

will get a Glock 18 while Counter-Terrorist will get the USP. Different

pistols are useful for different things, so be sure to read each section to

know what each pistol is good for.

 

In Real Life the Pistol is usually used when the primary weapon is out of

ammo or when the person using the weapons has little or no combat experience

(such as a Medic or Engineer)

A tip I received from a reader who name he wishes to be hidden, using the

Glock with armour or using a 'Nade can be deadly if someone can aim. If a T

with a Glock rushes, he can quickly kill his enemy if he aims for the head

because having a Helmet is impossible, so the first shot will stun your

opponent and the second will finish him off.

 

Killing a person with this gun can be quite simple, as long as you keep

moving he won't be able to get a good shot on your head, which is his best

chance at killing you. While moving continue to shoot at him and he should be

This is Counter-Terrorist Starting gun, it is a bit stronger than the Glock,

but still useless if you do not know how to use it. This gun is best used a

Medium ranges, at close range this gun this gun wont fire enough bullets to

keep you alive, and at long range the accuracy is pretty bad. The USP has 112

bullets, so if you have bad aim, you can still use this weapon and not worry

about running out of ammo. Aim for the head and upper body is a good strategy

for lots of weapons, and this one is no exception.

 

This gun is equipped with a silencer which does exactly what you'd to do,

silence stuff. In dark places where the enemy can't see you, the silencer is

great as you can't be seen (duh) since your silencer is on, you can't be

heard either, do the math... *looks around* ok ill do it for you-

 

USP + Silencer + Dark Place + Enemy - Light & Sound = Kill

 

Get it?

 

This gun is also great for pistol rounds, although the Desert Eagle has more

power, this gun is good in all aspects, and will also allow you to save

money. It can also rip any Terrorist using Glocks to shreds.

 

Killing a USPer can be tricky, but I've found staying as far back as possible

is best as the USP lacks the accuracy to fire long range so when facing

someone with a USP, get as far back as possible. If you get too close you

will get ripped to shreds.

In the early 90's, SOCOM, requested a new handgun that could be used on its

own, if a rifle or sub-machine gun was not available or not suitable for the

job. Until this point, all pistols were only backups that some used when the

main gun was out of ammo or no longer working. They wanted a pistol that

could hold its on until reinforcements arrived, wanted it to be powerful,

and above all, accurate.

 

The company that got handed this difficult task was Heckler & Koch, who made

the pistol upon a line of previous pistols, the USP-series. It was known as

the SOCOM pistol. The SOCOM had great accuracy, durability, and power. It

was the perfect pistol- if it weren't for one problem, the fact that it was

huge. With the silencer, it came in at 16.65 Inches, which wasn't easy to

holster.

 

H&K shortened the SOCOM, and created HK USP Tactical, the one found in CS.

The gun was quickly taken in by the SpecOps. The only problem with the HK

was that it could not be used in harsh conditions and seawater,

Nevertheless, the HK replaced the SOCOM for the SpecOps and became the new

pistol of choice.

The 228 is one of the many undiscovered guns in Counter-Strike. It is light,

so you can run fast with it, does enough damage to kill, and has a fast rate

of fire. It is weaker than the Desert Eagle for sure, but can still do its

job. Like all guns, I say aim for head to achieve maximum results. As for

range, it is best in close range where small guns are better, at medium range

it doesn't have the same effect as in close range, and at long range this gun

is pretty much useless unless your are a good marksman.

 

This gun is fit for a sniper as it excels in short range, and if you are a

sniper you likely switch to your sidearm because you are being attacked at

close range, in that situation this gun is great.

 

In pistol round if you use the 228 you will probably get killed by the Deagle

because of sheer power, but your advantage is your Rate of Fire. When facing

a Desert Eagle in pistol round be quick, strafe behind cover, jump around do

anything where it is hard to hit you, while moving around return fire at your

opponent.

 

Killing some one with a 228 can be tricky if they know how to use it. The

Counter-Attack against the strategy above is to move around yourself, and to

make every shot count because you only have 7 bullets before you must reload.

As an alternative you can retreat to a better position or throw a 'nade.

 

To kill a person with a 228 otherwise stay as far back as you can the 228

packs a punch while used at close range so back up.

One of the most famous and powerful guns in CS, this pistol is stronger than

some SMGs out there! It fires slow but powerful shots that can kill an enemy

in less than 3 shots. One of the problems with this gun is the small clip

size, only 7 bullets, which can run out quickly in a combat situation.

Overall, this gun only holds 6 clips, while others guns like the USP hold 12

clips.

 

If you have read the previous version of this guide, I said that using the

Deagle long range was a waste of bullets. I have changed my opinion on this

gun simply because I saw that gets lots of range kills. At close range it

doesn't fire quickly but can make short work of any target. At medium range

this gun is just as powerful and at long range this gun is still a killing

machine.

 

Under the uses section, I have it listed as Assault weapon, why? Because this

can, and is used often to rush key points because of its light weight and

power. This gun is best combined with either an AK-47, M4A1 or a sniper rifle

like the Scout or AWP.

 

As for using this in pistol rounds, it is a good idea for Terrorists who

can't use the Glock effectively and will give the Terrorists a more fighting

chance again the CTs and their USPs. Alternatively for someone how doesn't

conserver bullets well, the 228, Five-SeveN, Daulies and USP will be a better

choice for you.

 

Killing someone with a Desert Eagle can be almost as hard as killing someone

with a M4A1 or AK-47. The difference is that the Desert Eagle only holds 7

bullets, which can disappear quickly in battle. When confronting them, move

around often causing them to fire random bullets. Soon they must reload, use

this chance to strike. Alternatively this gun also fires slow shots, so if

you get a TMP or MAC-10 you can pump your opponent full of lead before he

even knows he's a target.

Ah, the Desert Eagle, even before playing CS I had heard of this gun, it is

one of the most famous and popular gun in and out of CS. Just saying Desert

Eagle gives some people shivers. At first it was called the Magnum Eagle

because it was made by Magnum Research. IMI [israeli Military Industries]

helped MG make the DEagle, and the result was the .357 Caliber Desert Eagle.

After the .357, there was the .44 Cal Magnum. In 1991, a new round, which was

called the .50 Cal express, was made, and the Desert Eagle .50 AE was the

most powerful pistol created.

 

Although the Eagle is used in movies, it is not used much in the Military.

Even though its powerful, its loud and hard to conceal. It only holds 7

bullets, and SpecOps teams need a gun that is quiet, or holds more ammo, and

the Eagle has neither of these things.

The only Akimbo weapons of Counter-Strike, the Daulies are pretty weak when

it comes to damage, and the same goes for accuracy, the first shot will

likely be accurate, but if you keep firing the bullets will fly all over the

place, which isn't good. The reloading on these guns is exceptionally long,

about 8 seconds to be exact.

 

On the plus side this gun looks damn cool, seeing someone run towards you

firing these full blast is quite a sight to behold. For some reason, this gun

holds 30 bullets, 15 for each gun, so the ammo counter should look like this-

That way you can see how much each gun hold, you should also be able to fire

the different guns separately, for example, [left click] would fire the left

gun, while [right click] will fire off the pistol on the right.

 

As for pistol round, I don't recommend this gun as it really is a ammo

guzzler, and since they cost 800 dollars now, you wont be able to buy any

ammo. You wont be able to compete with the CT's USP or Five-SeveN so only use

this gun when you want some fun, not kills.

 

Killing someone with this gun is pretty easy, like most pistol you'll want to

back up and put as much distance between you and the enemy as possible so his

shots become weaker and less accurate.

The 92F 9mm Barreta series was first made by the US Army in the mid 80's. It

was meant to replace the Colt .45 M1911 Pistol the Army was already using.

Since then, these guns have been popular among SpecOps, Police Officers and

Civilians alike. The problem with these pistols is that they are called 96G,

but they only have a 9mm Camber, which in fact the 92F had. The 96G has a .40

Caliber Chamber, which the one in CS isn't. So the devs need to change the

name from '96G' to '92G' or make this gun have a .40 Caliber Chamber to make

it realistic.

The Five-SeveN is a great gun, fast, good at long distances, and one of them

most accurate guns in the game. For snipers I would suggest using this gun as

it has a 20 bullet clip, and fires extremely quickly so you may be able to

out fire your opponent to kill him. As for rushers, this pistol is great if

your primary weapon isn't good at long range (shotguns, Ingram, TMP) and can

help take out long range opponents.

 

For pistol rounds, if you are skilled enough I would suggest staying back and

sniping with this gun. Its accuracy is great so this is very possible and

effective too. If you are not skilled enough to snipe with a pistol, then I

suggest you rush with the rest of your teammates.

 

This gun can be as hard to take out as the Desert Eagle as it excels at all

ranges, but it's downfall is its weak bullets. Since the enemy won't be able

to damage you much, you are free to lay down your own attack and hopefully

kill the enemy.

Made around the same as the P90, the FN Five-SeveN is one of a kind. You

should notice that the capital 'N' on the Five-SeveN, this isn't a typo,

Fabrique Nationale made this spelling as a marketing gimmick. Introduced in

1995, using the new 5.7x28mm ammo, the Five-SeveN can pierce any type of

armour and helmet currently on the market, and packs a huge punch. It is

small, light, and has better grip than any other 9mm pistol out there.

 

Most people say the Five-SeveN does very little damage, because its Chamber

is slightly less than .22 Caliber round. Some FN and NATO shooters however,

say Specialized Ammo is more powerful than the standard issue NATO 9mm Ammo.

Tests have shown that the P90 and Normal 9mm Guns have the same effect on un-

armoured targets, but the effect of the pistol has yet to be seen. FN hopes

one day NATO will use its 5.7 ammo instead of the normal 9mm ammo. Some NATO

frontline units are already using 5.7 Chamber guns for testing.

Shotguns are powerful at close range, less effective at medium range and

suicide at long range. They are excellent for small maps like fy_iceworld and

fy_pool_day. In Counter-Terrorism missions, Counter-Terrorists use shotguns

not as assault weapons, but rather as entry methods. A shotgun is used to

blow doors open when lock picking would take far too long and silence has

been thrown out the window.

This gun (like the Dualies) is one of those 'style' guns, but

unlike the Daulies this gun is good for something. At pointblank to

close range, this gun will net you an automatic kill. The sheer

power and pressure this gun delivers is enough to smash a man's rib

cages in. At medium range this gun loses some of its power but can

still kill. If you meet an enemy at long range such as a sniper, I

suggest you use your pistol, A shotgun fired at this range hardly

does any damage at all, and using a pistol will greatly improve your

chances of survival.

 

After you fire off a shot, you must pump (note the nick name)

another round in, this greatly reduces your chances of survival if

another enemy is around or if you miss, so your best bet is to fire

off a shot and then strafe behind a wall, when you are done pumping,

re-emerge and pump more lead into your enemy until all are dead. If

there is no cover, after you fire your first shot jump, strafe,

crouch and be downright unpredictable. If you plan do use this gun

make sure you have good aim also.

 

Taking down someone with this gun can be quite simple, stay as far

back as possible and make sure he never gets close enough to fill

you up with lead. If he starts strafing and jumping around use a

grenade, anyone will do. A HE will flush him out so you shoot him,

a Flash will blind him so he is a prime target and a smoke will

(hopefully) lag him so that he is easy for the kill.

 

This gun is best used in small maps or maps with lot of cramped

inclosed spaces, maps like fy_iceworld, and fy_pool_day.

The M3 is made by Benelli from Italy and marketed by H&K. It is mostly used

by Police SWAT groups to blow open doors and keep the down riots. This gun is

a pump action shotgun, meaning you must pump a new shot into the chamber

every time you fire. In real life, if you were to be hit with one of these

beasts, you would be kicked back and likely be left unconscious for quite a

while. At the worst, you could have your ribs smashed in and your lungs

crushed, even if you have Kelvar protection.

Out of the two shotguns, this gun is usually the one that takes less

skill. As with the Auto Shoty, at close range this gun can kill you in a

few shots, and medium range it greatly loses its power and you may

consider pulling out your pistol to finish off any enemies, and at long

range this gun is worthless. Instead of having to pump new rounds in the

gun afterevery shot, you can keep shooting off rounds until you have to

reload orchoose to stop.

 

As for using this gun in combat, as mentioned before close range is

the best way to go with this gun, and unlike the pumpy where you must

shoot, and then strafe behind a corner, you can, if you want of course,

stay in the open and fire upon your opponent.

 

Taking someone down with this gun is almost as easy as killing a Pumpy

Shotgun User. As always keep your distance and lob grenades.

The Benelli XM1014 is actually the Benelli M4 Super 90, a Tactical

shotgun with a compressible buttstock. This gun was taken in as the USMC

(United States Marine Corps) combat shotgun on February 12, 1999. Since the

USMC already had a gun called the M4 (M4A1 Colt Carbine), they had to change

it to XM1014. To civilian and Police markets, it is sold as the Benelli M4

Super 90 and carries 8 shells. The M1 and the M3 are made for Police and

Urban use, while the XM was made for Jungles and other hostile environments.

In real life, the XM and the M3 use the 12 Gauge shells, but in Counter-

Strike, the XM is weaker than the M3 for game balance only.

Let me just start off by saying this- this gun was NOT meant to be used in

combat, it was only intended for Medics and other support personnel who did

not fight in open combat regularly but still needed firepower to keep

themselves alive. Since there is not a class system in CS, this gun cannot

be used for what it is intended for. Now we all know what happens when

people use guns to do things they are not intended for (sniper at point

blank, shotgun and sniper range etc.,) and the results are usually

disastrous. As such, I see many (I hate saying this word, really) noobs

misusing this gun and giving it a bad name, as mentioned before they are

simply not using it correctly.

 

First off, don't expect MP5 performance here, they are two different guns and

should be tread as such, so don't go running into battle with it TMP thinking

it's a MP5 and then bad mouthing it, just don't. You'll notice this gun has

an attached silencer, which makes it a great gun for people how prefer

stealthover marksmanship. Another good thing about this gun is that it fires

bullets extremely quickly, excellent in close combat where accuracy is thrown

out the window and power and/or rate of fire take over. Now, the TMP doesn't

have the best power, but it's rate of fire is more than enough to compensate

for it.

 

So if you ever meet an enemy at close range, open fire and aim for the head.

If you meet an enemy at a medium range, take short bursts at his head, if

this is not working pull out your pistol and use that. And at long range, I

highly recommend using a pistol as your TMP will be near useless. If you want

to use this gun, I suggest you play on maps that are small of have small

crowed places for you to use this gun usefully.

 

To kill someone with a TMP stay as far back as you possibly can so the enemy

gun will lose its power so you can Counter-Attack and kill the enemy.

Many support units (medics, engineers etc) were usually only equipped with a

pistol, and got ripped to shreds when they came face to face to enemy with a

rifle. The problem was they couldn't just stick them with a rifle, they were

far too big and bulky and required lots of training, which medics and

engineers don't have. This is where the idea of Personal Defence Weapons came

in. The TMP is a PDW, and is only meant for non-combatants, anyone with

little experience in firearms can use this weapon so they can keep themselves

alive.

 

This gun cannot be used well at long range, and excels at close range. Steyr

didn't put a stock in this gun because they though it would be even more of

a burden for the person holding it, as a result this gun cannot control

recoil well. At close ranges it can fire quickly can get good headshots as

it gradually moves upwards with its recoil. A noteworthy thing about this gun

is that it has a built in silencer, making it a great stealth weapon.

Killing some one with a Ingram is almost as easy as killing someone with a

The MAC was one of many SMG's the SEALs used before they found the awesome

power of the MP5. The MAC is named after its creator, Gordon Ingram. It is

made to use 9mm bullets and .45 Caliber ACP. In the 70's this gun was mass-

produced and distributed to many people, including Columbian drug lords. This

gun is no longer made because the US Government banned all automatic weapons,

and because after the MP5 came, there was no need for the MAC. Thanks to many

movies, this gun has earned the name "American Uzi" The MAC was also one of

the first guns to use a silencer, earning it yet another name, the silent

killer.

 

The MAC was made by many different companies so there are many variations on

this one gun. The company that made the Ingram in CS is Military Armaments

Corporation, although Gordon Ingram created the Ingram, this company went

bankrupt in the mid 70's and (I'm assuming) he sold the design to MAC.

 

As for Counter-Terrorist operations, this gun can empty its 30 bullet clip in

3 seconds, not the best weapon for a hostage rescue. It is good however, in

close combat when cover fire is required so that the enemies will keep their

heads down, and so your team can keep moving.

The MP5, the SMG of choice for many players, can hold its on ground against

many other rifles including the M4 and AK. It has a good rate of fire, not

as slow as the UMP, but not as fast as the TMP or Ingram. It can kill in a

few shots to the body and is suitable for all ranges. See fast firing guns

are good for close range because once you fire lots of bullets, your

accuracy goes bad and so fast firing guns are no good for long range. But

slow firing guns like the UMP, are better for long range because they fire

so slow that their shots are accurate, but if they are ever ambushed,

they're screwed as a slow firing UMP will be killed quickly by a quick

firing TMP or Ingram. And since the MP5 has a middle rate of fire, it is

suitable forall ranges, which is excellent.

 

This gun requires almost no strategy, pick it up and pwn some noobs. Although

I will say this, watch your recoil if you fire too many shots in succession

our aim will be horrible so take short bursts. Now I'm not telling to take AK

bursts, no I'm saying don't fire off more than 5 bullets in succession.

 

To Take out someone with a MP5, staying back would be a good idea as the MP's

accuracy drops drasticly, not to say the MP5 is bad at long range, but you

have more chance of living if you stay far away.

The MP5 is the gun after the Desert Eagle that almost everyone knows. Based

upon H&K's G3 Rifle design, it was the very first sub-machine gun to be

known in accuracy and controllability in firefights. It is the most powerful

and successful sub-machine gun in the world, and the most trusted. There are

many versions of the MP5, chambered for 10mm, .40 Cal S&W, and .45 Cal ACP.

 

The one in Counter-Strike is the MP5 Navy. It is a full size MP5 with a

retractable stock and 3 firing stages, Safe, Single and Full-Auto. The Navy

is almost exactly like the MP5A3, expect the Navy is made for SpecOps use.

The model is Counter-Strike is near exact to what it looks like in real life.

This SMG is used world wide in nearly every Counter-Terrorist Team in the

world, including The SEALs, The SAS, The GSG-9 and many others. This gun is

THE gun to have, in some conditions and locations, it is more useful than

the M4A1.

Another misfit of SMG's, the UMP is like the TMP and Ingram in the fact that

hardly anyone uses them, but that's where the similarities end. If you read

some of the previous weapon profiles, they will fill you in on most of the

happening's of SMGs. As you probably already know if you've used this gun,

it fires fairly slow, making it good for long range, to explain this I will

copy & paste something from the above weapons- Fast firing guns are good for

close range because once you fire lots of bullets, your accuracy goes bad

and so fast firing guns are no good for long range. But slow firing guns

like the UMP, are better for long range because they fire so slow that their

shots are accurate, but if they are ever ambushed, they're screwed as a slow

firing UMP will be killed quickly by a quick firing TMP or Ingram.

 

As said above, this gun is best used at long ranges, but see some people

think its just another MP5 and go running into battle with a slow firing gun

and get pwned easily. This gives the gun a bad name and doesn't help the user

out any either. This gun was meant to be used at medium and long ranges, so

use it there! The recoil on this gun can get quite large also so like the

MP5, don't fire more than 5 bullets in a row.

 

Killing someone with an UMP is quite simple, since the UMP fires extremely

slow at close range, get up close, this will make it so the enemy will find

it difficult to do much damage so you can fire back and kill him.

The UMP is a newly created SMG based on H&K's MP5 design. This gun however,

is chambered for the .45 ACP and fires slower so as to control the .45 ACP

bullets. It is also larger and more boxier than the MP5. The in late 80's,

H&K made a new SMG called SMG-II, (there was a SMG-I, asked for by the SEALs,

but then it was cancelled because of the MP5) The SMG-II has many

improvements over the MP5 but the high cost made it so it was worthless for

anything but made-to-order automatic gun. The UMP, made in the late 90's was

H&K's 1st attempt to put some of the qualities of the SMG-II into a smaller,

more affordable package.

Yet another hardly used gun, the P90 is a very over looked SMG. It fires

quickly, making it ideal for close range combat. Now personally I don't like

this gun, its probably because I don't know how to use it or whatever, but I

simple cannot maintain a positive score with this gun. Anyway this gun's

accuracy is really bad if you fire off too many shots in succession, so if

using this gun in medium or long range, fire a shot or two, wait for the

recoil to die down and then resume.

 

To kIll someone with a P90 stay far back so thier gun becomes useless and

fire back with your own gun.

In the mid 80's NATO was thinking about using Body Armour to equip their

soldiers, Kelvar was near useless against rifles, but could hold if fired on

by pistols and SMGs. Which made NATO think about changing to another small

arms ammo round. FN had the answer (don't they always?), a new ammo type the

5.7x28mm, a smaller version of the 5.7x45mm rounds- which NATO was already

using. Not just that, FN also had two new guns that used the new ammo, the

228 (pistol above) and the P90 (this gun).

 

The P90, like the TMP was made with a PDW concept, and as said before, uses

the 5.7 bullets. When tested on Kelvar, it easily ripped right through the

Kelvar and heavily damaged the target in the Kelvar. It is compact (smaller

than the MP5), has 50 bullets, and is easily maintained.

 

The early version of Counter-Strike, the P90 was equipped with a .338 Lapua

Round, the real P90 however, has 5.6x28mm made by FN. In the game the P90's

accuracy has been dropped for game balance, but it can still pierce armour

well (kinda)

This gun is basically the AK and MP5 fused together to create an unholy

creation they call a Galil, now I'm not bashing the gun, its great, but it

can't compete with the raw power of the AK, no matter how fast it can shoot

bullets. This gun is related more closely to the MP5 than the AK because it

fires shots a bit faster than the MP5 and its shots are a bit weaker than the

AK, making it have a fine balance.

 

Al close range this gun will get the job done quickly. At medium range it

will lose its effectiveness unless you fire in really short bursts (2-4

bullets) and at long range I suggest you fire 1 or 2 bullets in a row as any

more will make your crosshairs too large to work with.

The FAM-AS is much like the Galil, both have high rates of fire and both

don't have good accuracy at long range, but the FAM-AS has a special feature

which makes it better than the Galil. That feature is the burst fire mode,

which is activated by [right-click], it is similar to the one on the Glock in

the sense that they both fire 3 shots at once. However, when a FA-MAS is put

in burst fire, and fired, all three bullets will hit the exact same place! If

you don't believe me, try it yourself, buy a FA-MAS, put it into burst fire

and fire at a wall, you will notice a single black hole in the wall, meaning

all three shots hit around the same area.

 

This makes this gun great for headshots, if your first bullet misses the

head, the other 2 will hopefully hit. The only problem with this is that

there is a delay between bursts, so if you're met with more than one enemy,

it would be smart to strafe behind a wall or to jump and flail wildly.

The FA-MAS stands for Fusil Automatique-Manufacture d'Armes de St Etienne,

and unless you speak French you'll have no idea what that means. It is a

smaller Bullpup-style assault rifle designed for Desert combat, which the

French Legion experienced much of. It has been adopted by many other

countries as the 5.56 Caliber gun of choice. It has a high rate of fire and

good control, making it the best of both worlds. Although it was originally

intended for desert combat, it can be used in almost any terrain from sand to

rain to snow.

The AK-47. A near perfect gun that can take down hordes of enemies in a

single clip. A gun that can take out an enemy right in front of you, and can

also take out an enemy across the map in about the same time and using the

same amount of bullets. The AK is truly the ultimate gun of Counter-Strike. A

skilled person with an AK can even snipe with his AK, now that, ladies and

gentleman is true skill.

 

Like said before, this gun can be used at close range at long range almost

flawlessly, but someone cannot just pick up an AK and except to be able to

snipe people from a distance and then kill someone right next to them, no

like everything in CS (and life) it will take practice. One of the big

pitfalls I see a lot with people using the AK is that they let the crosshairs

get WAY to big, never fire off more than 4 shots in a row, and never more

than 2 at long range as the number one thing in long range combat is

accuracy, which you will quickly lose if you fire off too many shots at once.

When someone says "Terrorist" most people think of this gun. The AK-47 was

first made in 1946 by a man named Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov for Soviet

tank crews to use. It cheap design and high rate of fire immediately made it

the standard rifle for infantry in Russia and all of its allies. It is quite

dated by today's standards, but used by post-allies from the cold war and

Terrorist groups.

 

The AK is one of most successful guns in the world, 20-50 million units have

As said above, the Scout is a true indicator of skill a sniper and an overall

player has. This gun is quick, deadly, and most important, silent. Many

people hate this gun, and it is used rarely, which is unfortunate. True this

gun cannot kill in one shot, and it ACTUALLY TAKES SKILL TO OPERATE *cough*

AWP *cough*

 

When using this gun, make sure you aim for the head, hitting any other part

of the body will do either 70 damage or 30 damage, depending on where you hit

them. If you are ever ambushed with a scout, hope that you bough a decent

pistol and fire away. If you are trouble with your pistol or it's simply not

cutting it, I hope you bough some 'nades 'coz you'll need 'em. HEs can kill

whoever's after you, Flashes can blind a guy so you can kill him or make

some distance between you and your opponent so you wipe his head clean off

with your scout. Smokes will provide cover and (possibly) lag up your

opponents comp so he'll start lagging, which is your time to strike.

The full name if this is the Jeff Cooper Scout, named after the guy who

defined 'infantry scout' which was "A highly trained Recon Sniper solo

operative". The bolt action of this gun ensures that it could only be used by

trained professionals. There are lots of guns that can out power the Scout,

which is why it is best for a single sniper, it is light so some one can run

with it, it packs a 7.62mm punch and is accurate enough to get the job done.

You cannot just pick this gun up and expect to be "The 1337 Sniper", after

firing a shot, you should immediately relocate so as not to be seen.

The Counter-Terrorist version of the AK-47, I like this gun just as much as

the AK-47, maybe more. Anyhow this gun, like the AK, can be used at Close and

Long range equally without much problem. This gun does not have the same

recoil the AK does, as long as the silencer is on. (More about the silencer

later) This means you can very well pump 5-8 bullets at close range into an

enemy and get kill, but don't let your crosshairs get to big, all your enemy

needs is one bullet to the head to end it all.

 

About the silencer, I recommend you always keep it on, it reduces recoil,

makes less of a racket and is just plain better in my experience of playing

CS and using this gun.

Real Life Info

 

The M4 is one of most popular guns in the western world right now, at the

core, it's really just the Colt M16A2 Rifle that has been shortened, made

more durable and made lighter. Fortunately, it has kept its firing mechanisms

the same so that that does about the same damage a M16A2 would do. This gun

is currently used by the Marines and is lowly replacing the other rifles in

the army. The M4A1 in the game is a M4 rifle made specially for the Green

Barets and Navy SEALs. There are many differences in this model and the other

ones, one of them is that it has a Rail mounting system allowing it to hold

different scopes, ones such as Normal Scope and one for Night Vision.

 

The Army was considering 2 types of silencer, called the Knights Armaments,

this one looked like a canister with lots of holes in it. The other one was

from a company called Gem-Tech, the one in Counter-Strike is the one from Gem-

Tech.

The Sig is one of the few guns which has a x2 scope, which makes it ideal for

attacking at close/med range, and you can hit [right-click] to pull out the

scope and kill some enemies long range as well. You can fire many shots in

succession without making the recoil out of control, but when scoped in, you

should make sure that your crosshairs don't get too big as when fighting long

range, accuracy is everything.

 

When compared to the Aug, this gun fires slower but also has a bit more power

than the Aug, so if you like fast shooting guns, pick the Aug, if you like

power over rate of fire, choose the Sig.

The Sig SG552 is SIG's answer to the M16. The Sig is now the standard issue

rifle for the Swiss Army. Alternatively there were two choices, the Sig SG552

and the SG551 SWAT Carbine currently used by the French GIGN. The SG552 is a

semi-auto and burst only version of the SG551 for close range battles, and

features a x2 scope and a foldable stock, making it so a rifle can be as

compact as a SMG. The maker, Sig even went as far to day that this gun could

be used with one hand, which is truly a feat for an assault rifle. This gun

is also accurate, a rival to the HK's G3/G3 6 (terrorist auto-sniper)

Similar to the Sig, the Aug has a 2x scope and is an alternative to the

regular M4/AK. The Aug fires faster shots than the Sig, but is also a bit

weaker which evens the game out. Much of what I said about the Sig is the

Steyr created the Aug (Armee Universal Gewehr, in English- Universal Army

Rifle) for the Austrian army and is the world's most easily recognized

Bullpup assault rifle. It has a sleek and futuristic design, is easy to

handle, and has also has a x2 scope. It is the most accurate rifle in the

game, but the recoil is so high that that will get horrible recoil if you

fire more than 3 shots in a row.

The one shot kill gun, the AWP is the most controversial gun in the game.

Many call this gun a noob stick and that only noobs use it, when really this

gun can't used by noobs effectively, sure they may be able to score some

kills but a true sniper could kill you before you knew you had something to

shoot at.

 

This gun is best used in long range because it's a sniper but at close I've

seen many people kill with this. Unscoped this gun is not very accurate and

if you ever to use this gun unscoped you better pull out your pistol and

spray and pray.

This gun was made by Accuracy International, a British based company that

makes Military and sporting rifles. Technically, the AWP and AWM are two

different guns, the AWP (Police Use) is chambered for a .308 Lapuna Magnum

while the AWM (Military use) is chambered for a .338 Lapuna, the one in CS is

the much more powerful AWM. In the real world, all guns in CS could achieve

one shot kills with or without Kelvar but in the game the only gun that can

achieve that (with out a head shot) is the AWP. In earlier version of this

game the AWP actually had crosshairs unscoped, making it even more deadly,

luckily I didn't have to deal with it because I started playing CS on version

1.3 -)

With 1.6, auto-sniper have been greatly improved damage wise and you can

actually kill with them (!) This is good so now people have more choice for a

sniper rifle other than the AWP or Scout. This rifle has a x4 and x8 scope

and unlike more sniper rifles, after you fire off a shot, you do not have to

put a new bullet in, hence the name auto-sniper.

 

This gun is best used in long ranges because it is a sniper rifle, but since

it is automatic it can be used in close because if you miss, you can fire

immediately after. Its best to aim for the head using this gun and then if

you miss you will at least hit his neck or upper body to do more damage.

The first gun H&K made, the 7.62mm G3 assault rifle was made Germany's

standard long range rifle and became the basis for all of H&K's firearms.

G3/SG1 was a special project from the German army. At first glance, it just

looks like a G3 with a PSG1 scope attached, the difference lies in the

handling, in semi-automatic mode, it would fire like a sniper rifle, however

in full-auto mode, it fires like an assault, HK made a "half-way" rifle, that

could be switch from sniper to assault rifle and vice versa.

 

The G3 rifles came into existence because of political conflicts, see Germany

wanted FN to reproduce the French FAL rifle for German use, FN refused so the

German army turned to H&K, and they accepted, from then on nearly all H&K's

weapons can be traced to the G3.

Nearly the same as the G3, the SG550 is the CT auto-sniper. The main

difference between the G3 and the SG550 is that when you hold down the left

mouse bottom, it will fire quick sniper shots, while the SG550 will fire

slower sniper shots, other than that they are almost identical.

The sole Machine Gun of Counter-Strike, this gun is hardly ever used by

serious players, it is usually used by people fooling round or beginners

thinking "It's a MG so it must be good" I'm here to tell you this isn't the

case. The recoil is so heavy on this gun it will be unlikely you will be able

o kill anyone at medium range, forget long range all together, the only kills

I have ever gotten with this gun was at close range where my massive 100

bullet clip prevailed. Overall this is one of the weapons that I don't like.

ScoutzKnifez (called SK from here on in) is a map with, you guessed it,

Scouts and Knifes. This being a primarily sniper map, everyone will be

equipped with a sniper rifle, so there is no equipment

advantage/disadvantage, this is pure skill- with a bit of luck thrown in for

good taste.

 

If you are recruiting snipers for your clan, this is a good map to do it on.

This map is best played on Low Gravity so you can float around and jump from

platform to platform (more on that below)

| Terrorist/Counter-Terrorist Strategy

Since both the sides are identical, I have fused the strategies for both

teams. Both teams will spawn in a basement of a larger building. From the

basement you can either go up to roof and snipe from there, snipe out of

the two doors, or assault the other base. All situations will be explained

in more details in the following paragraphs.

 

If you choose to go to roof and snipe from there, either stick close to the

door you came in, or pull out your knife and run to the room across from the

door and snipe from there. Beware though, if you chose to snipe from this

room, make sure you move around a lot as anyone can pull of an easy headshot

because your head is the only thing showing.  If sniping from the roof, it

is also wise to kill anyone the on the roof on the other base, so assaulters

on your team don't have to face snipers up on the roof.

 

There are two doors in the basement, one on the left and one on the right.

For now, I will focus on the one on the left. From here you can see the

opposite base and the door on the opposite base, I suggest sniping this

place, as many people will come out of these doors, resulting in many kills.

You should also note that from the position at the door, you are venerable

to kill from all other openings so be sure to watch for enemy snipers

looking to put a hole in your head. About the door on the right, you

can't see much inside looking out, but if you go out of the door, you

have a clear view of the opposite base, making the right door a more

dangerous alternative to sniping the base.

 

As for rushing, you will want to use your scout at least once to pick off

any snipers you can. Most of the knifing will happen inside the base, it is

not smart to knife in the open as snipers from either side can disturb you

and provide an unfair advantage. You will want to storm the opposing base

when all snipers have been killed, and any remaining people seem to be

camping in the base, at this point you should storm the base from both

doors and work our way up to flush out any remaining enemies still inside

the base. Make sure you have a sniper watching the base so anyone how

tries to escape will be killed. So for all you knifers out there, put

away that knife for now, pull out a Scout, and if you get lucky you can

thrust cold steel into a Snipers head one day -)

 

As for General Strategies, there are lots of them, go to both the Scout and

Knife in the weapons section of this FAQ. Here are just some general

strategies for this map-

 

- NEVER EVER block people, sniping requires a lot of room, and many a times

the sniper will need to back out and move back, so if someone is in your

favourite sniping spot, don't try to push him out or something, go somewhere

else.

 

- When sniping, fire, and when your character put another bullet into the

slot, quickly strafe behind a wall or something, emerge from the behind the

wall, fire, repeat

 

- If left-clicking while knifing, aim for the head, as you will be more

accurate and hopefully get a head shot

 

- If right-clicking while knifing, aim just below the head because the aim

isn't great, and if you miss the head, at least you will do some major

damage, and if you hit the head well good for you -)

 

- If low gravity is on, jump onto the higher platforms to gain an edge over

the opposing team, you can also jump from platform to platform onto the

opposing base, and kill snipers inside with cold hard steel.

- Use the doors, they are important sniper spots

- If some one ambushes you with a knife, don't scope the scout, instead take

a good guess (the middle of the screen will be where the bullet will go) and

fire with the scout, a knife can only hit at point blank, and as long you

keep your distance, you will be fine

 

- If the above strategy fails because you are trapped or out of ammo, pull

out a knife and hack & slash like your life depends on it

 

- When sniping, fire, and when your character put another bullet into the

slot, quickly strafe behind a wall or something, quick switch to your knife,

emerge from the behind the wall, fire, repeat

 

- Use double Scope on this map, you'll need it

| What to do If You're Team is Getting Nailed to the Wall

On these kinds of maps, its pretty hard for a team to make a comeback if the

other team is pwning it. If low gravity is on, pull out a knife and rush the

roofs, from here you can see and kill everyone on the map (with the exception

of anyone hiding in the base)

 

Another thing to do is for 2-4 people to camp in a room inside their base

with knives, this way you can gang up on any person that comes in and make

short work on him.

Sniping is a deadly art, a person who can kill and escape before being seen.

As good in stealth as in aim, the sniper lives for the kill, who get

adrenaline rushes when he points his crosshairs, upon an enemies head, will

pull the trigger, and in a split-second, he will have gained a kill, and

prestige. Unfortunately, the sniper name has been tarnished, spat on and

crapped on by AWPers, people who rush with snipers and noobs. Now not

everyone is like these same people, but they have spoiled a true snipers

name, which is most unfortunate.

 

Now, anyone with half a ass can pick up or buy a sniping gun and begin

killing people with it, but this is not true sniping. As said before, a

sniper lives for the kill, and can kill and run without being seen, this

is a true sniper.

Just a quick lesson on scopes, there are 4 types of scopes, x1, x2, x4, and

x8. X1 is the normal unscoped size, all gun have this feature. X2 is the

scope on the Sig and Aug, it is not x1 scope, but not x4 sniper scope either.

X4 is a sniper scope, all sniper have it, it is the scope you get when you

[right-click] once. X8 is another sniper scope, it is the most powerful scope

and appears when you [right-click] twice.

As said above, the Scout is a true indicator of skill a sniper and an overall

player has. This gun is quick, deadly, and most important, silent. Many

people hate this gun, and it is used rarely, which is unfortunate. True this

gun cannot kill in one shot, and it ACTUALLY TAKES SKILL TO OPERATE *cough*

AWP *cough*

 

When using this gun, make sure you aim for the head, hitting any other part

of the body will do either 70 damage or 30 damage, depending on where you hit

them. If you are ever ambushed with a scout, hope that you bough a decent

pistol and fire away. If you are trouble with your pistol or it's simply not

cutting it, I hope you bough some 'nades 'coz you'll need em. HEs can kill

whoever's after you, Flashes can blind a guy so you can kill him or make some

distance between you and your opponent so you wipe his head clean off with

your scout. Smokes will provide cover and (possibly) lag up your opponents

comp so he'll start lagging, which is your time to strike.

 

This gun will take lots of practice to be good at so to improve your aim you

may want to play a map such as ScoutzKnifez or play against bots. This gun is

worth learning and once you have mastered it, (almost) nothing can stop you.

The one shot kill gun, the AWP is the most controversial gun in the game.

Many call this gun a noob stick and that only noobs use it, when really this

gun can't used by noobs effectively, sure they may be able to score some

kills but a true sniper could kill you before you knew you had something to

shoot at.

 

This gun is best used in long range because it's a sniper but at close I've

seen many people kill with this. Unscoped this gun is not very accurate and

if you ever to use this gun unscoped you better pull out your pistol and

spray and pray.

 

In reality, this gun is very easy to avoid and to take down. Say you are

playing Dust, and a Terrorist is AWPing the underpass, you can do many

things to kill him, first off avoid the entire area, this is the easiest way

not to get killed by the AWP, and instead of rushing the underpass, rush the

Tunnels and flank him from there.

 

You could also smoke the Underpass to allow your teammates to run through,

once you have taken up cover, emerge from behind the crates from time to

time and fire upon the AWPer and then take cover again behind the crates,

simple.

With 1.6, auto-sniper have been greatly improved damage wise and you can

actually kill with them (!) This is good so now people have more choice for a

sniper rifle other than the AWP or Scout. This rifle has a x4 and x8 scope

and unlike more sniper rifles, after you fire off a shot, you do not have to

put a new bullet in, hence the name auto-sniper.

 

This gun is best used in long ranges because it is a sniper rifle, but since

it is automatic it can be used in close because if you miss, you can fire

immediately after. Its best to aim for the head using this gun and then if

you miss you will at least hit his neck or upper body to do more damage.

- Aim for the head, the golden rule of sniping

 

- Aim to Kill, not to Ill, another golden rule of sniping, if you don't kill

your enemy in the first shot he will be alerted of your presence, and will

likely hunt you down, if this happens predict where he will come to attack

you and place your crosshairs on that spot, is this fails your best bet is

to pick up another gun, use your pistol or use grenades

 

- Don't Use the x8 Scope unless your target is REALLY far away, The x8 scope

(two right clicks) makes your target easier to see, but you cannot see his

surroundings, and wont be able to see ambushes making you a sitting duck,

use the x4 scope as much ass possible, if you absolutely must use the x8

scope, keep it for a maximum of 10 seconds, even if you need more time,

zoomout and make sure your position is secure, then resume sniping

 

- Quick switch out of a Zoom, instead of right clicking out of your scope,

quick switch out to your pistol or knife or 'nade as it is much faster

 

- Snipers CAN be used in close range combat, since most the sniper rifles

are accurate as hell, they can be used in close combat. Of course this does

not apply to the Scout, but the AWP and the Auto-Sniper can be used in

medium and close range because of their accuracy, however if you are ever

faced in a close combat situation, better hope you brought a pistol that

packs some heat 'coz that sniper is near useless

 

- At close range Firing an Unscoped Sniper Rifle can net you a kill, as

said above, at close range some snipers can get you some kills, but if you

get ambushed, Scoping it will take too long, instead take a chance with

your unscoped rifle, this works best with the Auto-Sniper as if you miss

once you can fire again, but with an AWP its trickier as you must load a

new bullet into the gun but it can still be done

 

- Don't expect many Kills, Something I should mention about being a

sniper is that even some of the best don't have positive ratios, good

sniper ignore the score board and concentrate on the kill, sure you may not

be on top on the score board, but you will know that each of the kill you

made was one of skill, which is worth much more than being on top of the

score board

 

- Chuck the Sniper is Necessary, if your teammates need help and your

Sniper Rifle doesn't cut it, chuck it and find a more suitable weapon and

help your team out, if you cant find a good weapon, use your pistol

(hope you aren't still using that Glock)

 

- Help your team out! This is a team game (many will argue with this and

tell me "This is Pub, there is no team" that is not true, this is still

a team game, it doesn't matter if you are playing in a Pub, a scrim or a

CPL match, but I digress) if you are last person alive, you will piss of

a lot of people if you don't complete the Objectives or camp, now this

doesn't apply if you are playing the Defending team as your objective is

to camp

 

If someone on the other team is annilatiing your team, make him your prime

target as the longer he lives, the more of your teammates die, which is

a bad thing

 

- If the map has no good sniping spots, rush with your team, but stay in the

background so as not to be ambushed, but close enough so you can kill a few

enemies, just be careful to watch your flank, failure to do so will result

in you hitting the floor

Whenever a sniper comes into a game and owns everyone, Most people resort to

name calling and accusing the sniper of hacking. Bullets are louder than

words.

Instead of flaming the guy, try killing him. There are many ways to deal with

snipers; name calling and kicking/banning are not one of them.

| Multi-Targets

Being a sniper I know the one of the worst things in when you have more than

1 target, you have a handful of bullets and all of your targets have to be

exterminated or you will be the one who hits the floor. Snipers can't avoid a

multi target situation giving the rusher more of a chance to survive and less

chance for the sniper to eliminate all of the threats. You have more chances

of staying alive if you move together.

| 'Nades

All 'nades are great against snipers. Flashbangs will temporarily blind the

sniping making him vulnerable for attack. Smokes make it so the sniper can't

see a certain area letting the rushers pass unharmed. HE 'nades are

especially useful because traditional sniper nests are corners or small

rooms, and the smaller the room the more damage a HE 'nade will do.

| Flank Him

Flanking is when your target is facing/firing straight and you take an

alternate route and shoot him from the side or the back where he least

expects it. Snipers are especially venerable to close range attacks, so get

as close as possible.

Hackers are probably the most worthless, annoying and lame people who play

CS. They completely ruin the game for everyone else. If you hack all I can

say is you won't get any better by hacking, you will get better by practicing,

not cheating, so please stop using hacks, its just a game. Anywho there are

many ways to stop hackers, or at least find them.

| Server Anti-Cheats

These are semi-popular, some people hate them, some love them. Personally I

don't think they work and the only true anti-cheat is a better game code and

more admins online at more times. The most popular is cheating death

(http-//www.unitedadmins.com/cdeath.php), you will know servers are using CD

when they have 'CD' or 'Cheating Death' somewhere in their name. In my

experience as said before I don't have good beef with CD and don't play on

servers with it a lot so I can't really comment on it.

| Finding Hackers

Finding Hackers can be a tricky task, the line between '1337' and 'hacker' is

blurred so much good people get kicked for hacking and vice versa. There are

two main types of hacks, wall hacks and aimbots.

| Finding Wallhacks

A wallhack is when a person can see and shoot through walls. Now, all guns

can shoot through walls to some extent, but wall hacks let you shoot, and

kill through walls, normally the best you can do while shooting through walls

is lightly damage them and (if they don't have lots of health) kill them.

 

Most

hacks will conceal the fact they have wall hacks, say you are walking behind

a wall and a hacker is on the other side, a smart hacker will likely wait

until you could have saw you without the hack so your aren't suspicious.

Unfortunately this works a lot of the time. You can only accuse someone of

hacking when they kill you through a wall. Wall hacks are hard to find.

| Finding Aimbots

Aimbots are much easier to find than wallhacks. An Aimbot is when the

crosshairs will automatically aim at the head, causing an automatic headshot.

Since you can tell when a person is getting headshots out the wazoo, you can

usually tell who is hacking and how is not. Before you accuse someone of

hacking, make sure YOU ARE 100% SURE.

 

Now, lots of people gets lots of headshots, hackers with aimbots CAN ONLY GET

HEADSHOTS (to my knowledge) so if you think someone has hacks, and they get a

non-HS kill, they likely are NOT hacking, if he get a HS kill, a normal kill

and another HS kill, in a short period of time, they are NOT hacking. Hacks

can be turned off and on, but it requires a console command which I'm

assuming takes a while to type in.

 

You will look like a real jackass if you accuse someone and you find out they

aren't hacking. One last note, just because a hacker dies, does not mean he

doesn't hack, many hackers die on purpose so they don't arouse suspicion.

Hated by some, loved by others the pistol round is the 1 round where everyone

has the same type of weaponry and the 'my gun is bigger than yours' factor

doesn't apply.

 

Note- it is only considered a pistol round if everyone starts out with $1000

or

less.

 

Terrorists- Most if not all terrorists will end up buying the Desert Eagle

or the Dualies (dualies are now $800) so I'm not going to try to deny that

tradition, However, to save money if you see your entire team buying Eagles,

consider buying ammo for the Glock, some armour or even a 'nade. Personally

I choose my pistol on what my team is using, if I can buy armour, save money

and pick a Desert Eagle from a fallen T, I'll do so. Plus if you live and

bought a desert eagle, don't buy a gun, use the Eagle the following round.  

 

Counter-Terrorists- The CTs have more choice than the Ts when it comes to

Pistol round, they can stick with there USP and buy armour or a nade, buy a

Desert Eagle and ammo, or can buy a Five-Seven the 'style' pistol or buy a

228.

Whenever I'm CT during pistol round I always buy armour or ammo and pick up

an

Eagle from a Fallen T or CT.

- Aim for the head 'nuff said

 

- Buy armour and if you can, a helmet, these greatly improve your chances of

living

 

- Know the map, know all the routes, the camping spots etc, if it is your

first time playing a map, go into spec mode and glide around and learn the

layout of the map

 

- Use headphones, these make sure any sound goes directly into your ear and

any out side noise gets filtered out

 

- All weapons can shoot through wall TO A CERTAIN EXTENT use this to your

advantage

 

- Watch other players when you are dead, and do what they do

 

- Buy a microphone, these are extremely useful when planning strategies and

alerting your teammates of incoming enemies as talking on the mic is faster

than talking

 

- If you can't get a mic, use the radio commands

 

- Don't spam the mic, only use it for I'm game events

 

- Use nades, all 3 nades are useful, HE nades can flush out enemies, Smokes

create cover from sniper fire and allow your teammates to get by with out

being ripped to shreds, and flashes temporally blind an enemy so you can

kill him without him shooting back.

 

- Jump around corners, its harder for an enemy to plant a head shot on you

 

- Keep moving, you should always stay moving unless you are ambushing an

enemy, being stealthy or sniping, you should always keep moving

 

- Crouch to increase your accuracy, this is a must for any sharpshooter

 

- Pick a pistol according to your primary weapon, if your primary is best at

close range, pick a pistol that is good at long range fighting, and vice

versa

 

- Don't go to the same place, good players learn fast, and great players

learn even faster, just coz you pwned at a certain place, don't expect to do

it again as every one will be waiting for you to pop your head out

 

- When defusing or planting bomb, always check for camping T or CTs, many

camp at objectives ready to fire a bead in your skull

 

- Reload often

 

- Communicate, probably the most important part of CS, communicating is what

keeps teams working, if you have a mic this is easier but if you don't you

better hope you can type fast

 

- At point blank range don't crouch, if you crouch at this range you will

likely get killed with a headshot as your opponent likely is firing at your

body, crouching will shift this crosshairs to your head, giving him an easy

kill

Q- Why do I lag on DSL or cable?

 

A- There are many reasons you may lag, one of them is NEVER leave things like

Kazaa or DAP running in the background, this will cause HORRIBLE lag, if you

don't use these or already tried closing them, but you still get lag, turn

down your graphic options, another option is to find servers close to where

you live, set the location filter at the bottom of the server list. If none

of these work, type these in your console-

Question- Why is the AWP called the AWM in the game?

 

Answer- In the early version of the game, it was originally called the AWP,

but some gun expert(s) told the devs this was wrong, and that it is actually

called an AWM, not an AWP. So in the following release they changed the name

to AWM, but the community kept calling it the AWP because it was easier to

pronounce 'op' rather than 'a-w-m'.

name 'Warcraft 3', 'Wc3' or 'War3' somewhere in their name.

Of course i couldnt read  the whole topic But i read a part of it Nc In my Opinion is a guide for newbies but also for Experts Gj
