La2Tools — Lineage 2 Texture Package Editor

La2Tools is a modern tool designed for viewing and editing Lineage 2 client texture packages (.utx / .ugx). It is completely self-contained—no Java installation is required, as everything is already bundled inside. It supports both classic clients (Prelude to Interlude) and modern versions (Kamael+, Essence).

Key Features

📦 Package Browser

  • Tabbed Interface: Open and work with multiple packages simultaneously.

  • Dual View Modes: Switch between a tile view with previews and a detailed table view.

  • Organization: Grouping and live filtering by name.

  • UI Themes: Dark and light theme support.

  • Animation Grouping Mode: Condenses frame sequences into a single tile with an animated preview.

  • Split9 Indicators: Textures utilizing Split9 display a blue layout grid directly on the preview (just like in UnrealEd).

✏️ Texture Editing

  • UnrealEd-style Property Dialog: Access all categories (Animation, Material, Quality, Split9, Surface, Texture) with editable parameters.

  • Live Preview: Zoom from 25% to 800%, choose backgrounds (checkerboard, black, or white), and view real-time Split9 grid updates.

  • Full-Size Rendering: Previews textures exactly as they appear in-game—rendered via Split9 (9-slice), Stretch, or tiling.

  • Clipboard Actions: Copy, cut, and paste textures between different packages.

  • Batch Adjustments: Copy and paste parameters from one texture to multiple items at once.

  • Animation Creator: Generate animations from selected frames, complete with FPS and looping settings.

  • Management & Compression: Rename with group modification, batch delete, and compress into RGBA8, DXT1, DXT3, or DXT5.

  • "Open In..." Feature: Edit textures or GFX files in any external editor (Photoshop, Paint.NET, GIMP). Once saved, changes are automatically pulled back into the package while preserving all original parameters.

📥 Import & Export

  • Native Formats: Import DDS, TGA, BMP, and GFX directly; PNG, JPG, and GIF are converted automatically.

  • GIF Engine: GIF files are automatically imported as ready-to-use animations (frames + AnimNext chain).

  • Batch Import: Includes custom settings, mipmap generation, Alpha/Masked flags, and Detail Hack.

  • Smart Replace: The "Preserve original texture parameters" option keeps Split9, animations, and clamps intact when overwriting.

  • Mass Export: Export selected items, the current group, or the entire package.

  • Drag & Drop: Drag files into the browser to import, or drag textures out to Windows Explorer to export.

🛠 Package Management

  • Formats Supported: Old (Prelude — Interlude) and New (Kamael+ / Essence).

  • One-Click Conversion: Seamlessly convert package formats between Old ⇄ New.

  • Creation: Build new packages in any supported format from scratch.

  • Encryption: Supports Lineage2Ver121 encryption (toggleable in package settings).

  • Safe Editing: Works on a temporary copy with full undo/redo history (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) and a single "Save" button to apply changes.

🖥 System Integration

  • File Associations: Open .utx / .ugx files with a double-click directly from Windows Explorer (registered during installation).

  • Single Instance: Opening a new file adds it as a tab in the already running window.

  • Multilingual UI: Automatically detects system language (supports EN, RU, UK, ES, PT, EL, KO, VI, ZH).

Update:

Version 3.1.2:
* Improved compaction: deleting even a few textures now always reduces the file (previously small deletions could still slightly grow some packages, such as fonts);
Version 3.1.1:
* Deleting textures now actually shrinks the package: on save it is automatically compacted, reclaiming the space of the deleted textures (format and encryption preserved);
Version 3.1.0:
* La2Tools now checks for updates on startup and lets you know when a newer version is available on the site;
Version 3.0.9:
* Fixed textures that appeared blank in some clients (their object carries an embedded shader the reader mis-parsed) — they now decode and display correctly;
* ShaderCode is now editable: Texture Properties → Material → ShaderCode shows the texture's real HLSL shader (was a fixed placeholder before); edit it and Apply — works across client formats (Interlude-era through Essence 542);
Version 3.0.8:
* BMP now imports as a native format, like UnrealEd: 8-bit BMP becomes a P8 (paletted) texture with a real Engine.Palette, 24/32-bit becomes RGBA8, 16-bit becomes G16;
* Compress to P8 — adaptive 256-color palette (median-cut quantization); P8 is also selectable as an import "Convert to" target;
* Copy / Cut / Paste now works for P8 (paletted) textures;
* Non-power-of-two textures are highlighted in red (tiles and table) with a tooltip; new "Fix texture size" menu item pads them to a power of two while keeping the displayed size;
* Reads "broken" packages that were tampered to block editors (corrupted size fields) — the client still loads them and now so does La2Tools;
* "Repair package" — shown only for a tampered package (its tab is marked red) and restores the corrupted size fields;
* Added client license 30 support (reads and imports its textures);
* Import dialog now auto-resizes to fit its content;
Version 3.0.7:
* Import: the file name is now parsed smartly — package.group.name automatically fills the Group and Name fields (the package prefix is ignored);
* Import: live name validation with an inline hint and tooltip — OK is blocked until the name is valid (allows - + ' etc., forbids only characters illegal in file names);
* Import: textures whose size is not a power of two are now auto-padded for ALL formats (DDS/TGA/BMP too, not only PNG/JPG/GIF) — padded to a power of two with UClamp/VClamp preserving the original display size;
* Texture filter now has a clear (×) button;
* Light theme: visible Chrome-style tab outlines;
Version 3.0.6:
* "Save as..." — toolbar button and tab-menu item: save a package under a new name to any folder, choosing the format (Old/New) and Lineage2Ver121 encryption; the tab switches to the saved file;
* Tab right-click menu reworked: Save, Save as... and Settings on top; Copy path and Open in Explorer at the bottom;
Version 3.0.5:
* Animation grouping now follows AnimNext links instead of frame names — chains group correctly with any naming (mixed prefixes, non-sequential or 0-/1-based numbers);
* GIF import: animation parameters (frame rate) and TotalFrameNum are now written only to the first frame, the rest keep just the AnimNext link — matches the game's own format; same fix applied to "Create animation";
Version 3.0.4:
* Clipboard <-> Explorer: Ctrl+C in the browser then Ctrl+V in Explorer pastes the textures as files; copy files in Explorer then Ctrl+V in the browser imports them;
* Rename a package right from Package settings (handles Lineage2Ver121 re-keying);
* Hotkeys: F1 (About), F2 (rename), F5 (reload from disk, asks if unsaved), Delete, Enter (Properties), Ctrl+W (close tab);
* The application icon now appears in the title bar of every dialog and sub-window;
* Fixed flipped preview when importing TGA files;

    • Update M54: Global HP/MP/CP consumable handling expanded beyond combat-only usage. Offensive mage idle recovery with learned skill Battle Heal. Spellhowler/Storm Screamer prioritizes Hurricane, using Vampiric Claw mostly below 90% HP. Major structural refactor initialized: Added category/class organization such as Archer, Dagger, Tank, Mage, Healer, Support and Specialized class files. Further structural cleanup. Extracted combat memory/state and more class-policy logic from the main controller. Added global stuck/inactivity watchdog for bots blocked by terrain/geodata. Added unreachable dropped ground-item timeout/temporary blacklist. Reworked Necromancer/Soultaker PvP: Dominator level 78+ maintains learned Arcane Power toggle on. Overlord/Dominator level 44+ maintains learned Soul Guard toggle automatically. Stability/scalability update: Bot controller ticks staggered instead of all starting in the same phase: Same 350 ms update rate retained Reduces simultaneous AI workload bursts. Removed the old manual aggressive-monster EVT_AGGRESSION bridge. Phantoms now use native Lucera setActive() behavior so monsters aggro them naturally. Reduced unnecessary NPC scans and native AI event pressure. Added saved-bot equipment overrides using a separate database table:         lucera_autobots_items Existing lucera_autobots remains the main saved-bot identity/state table. Equipment rows are linked to saved bots through bot_id. Added optional convenience view to show bot name together with equipment overrides:         lucera_autobots_items_view Added editable equipment slots in columns: Weapon Shield Helmet Chest Legs Gloves Boots Necklace Left/Right Earrings Left/Right Rings Equipment override values: 0 = use normal class/level profile item -1 = force slot empty >0 = equip that Item ID Custom equipment works only for saved database bots. Default class/level equipment profiles remain unchanged. Supports custom equipment from No Grade to S Grade, regardless of the bot's current level. Added validation for invalid item IDs and incompatible equipment slots. Added handling for: Two-handed weapons vs shields Full-body armor vs separate leggings Added all-grade Soulshots and Spiritshots to bot inventory/replenishment so custom lower-grade weapons still use the correct shots. Mage profiles that already use Blessed Spiritshots keep that behavior with all relevant grades available. First save the bot normally so it exists in table:         lucera_autobots Then open:         lucera_autobots_items Find the row with the same bot_id and edit only the equipment slots you want. Example: weapon_id = 6608 shield_id = -1 helmet_id = 0 chest_id = 0 legs_id = 0 gloves_id = 0 boots_id = 0 This means: weapon_id 6608 → custom weapon shield_id -1 → no shield all 0 values → keep normal default profile equipment After editing the DB, despawn and respawn the saved bot so M54 reloads its equipment overrides. Do not edit bot_id. Use it only to identify which saved bot the equipment row belongs to.   DOWNLOAD
    • It will be multi client so it will detect the client from the files and adapt the packets and asset loading. I am aiming for C4 and H5 after IL
